The Mavs are a borderline lottery team without Dirk. No other team, not even Orlando, suffers more without their star.

Start to think that not even Dirk and Roddy could fix the issues that this team has. If Dirks back and this Team rolls again, there is no way that he is not the MVP of the league!

I don't really get people saying this. You realize we were a .800 team with Dirk...and that included a 7-1 or so stretch with no Butler. Dirk is simply that good and that important. Everyone relies on him.

Im maybe one of the biggest Dirk fans out there, and also think that he is really underreated, but man, we got a Jason Kidd, a Shawn Marion, a Jason Terry out there, and these players do not even get a win against the Pacers... the Pacers!!!

So Dunleavy yanks Chandler's arm all over the court and Chandler gets called for a technical for swinging his arm?

I'm not saying we are condtenders. But maybe a deep run. I mean, what else has changed? Nothing but Dirk. We were looking realllll good when Dirk was healthy, even when Butler wasn't. Without Dirk, Terry is Larry Hughes bad. With him, he's at least capable of being a 6th man quality scorer. These guys are way worse without Dirk, but with him they look better.

chandler battled his ass off out there. I like what I see from him from now on. Wood gets no burn in the second...he's really playing himself off this team it appears...
The team just doesn't have nearly enough offense to contend right now. And their perimeter defense isn't much better...Pretty yuck...

4th straight Bobcat win. Officially the sole 8th seed now. Don't worry, I've bookmarked your thoughts.

They're 15-21, only 8 games ahead of the last-place Cavaliers with almost half the season left to play...

*Why do you make a post which is completely extraneous to the debate?
Yes, the East is a joke. But my point is that they've been playing much better since firing Brown, and at this rate they'll make the playoffs and be unlikely to trade Jax.

Alright man, go for it. In that post, I said that the Bobcats might make the playoffs and if they do they still may be a bad team (which was the original thing I said anyway). I'm having trouble seeing how you're going to "burn" me on something that isn't even a prediction, just an vague opinion with months left to play.

No revisionist history. Actually, you said that personally, you don't think they will. Not maybe. Stating that you don't think they'll make the playoffs is in fact a prediction. You also said that they'd have no reason not to trade Jax.

You say "at this rate" and I say "with half a season left to play" and you don't see any correlation?
Do you really think a 15-21 team is going to keep pace for the next 46 games? (I mean, so much that the 15-23 76ers or the 14-22 Bucks or 13-25 Raptors couldn't possibly overtake them?)
You have a lot of faith in a ridiculously inconsistent team - it's not like they just traded for Turk/Arenas/Richardson...

Sure, let's call it a prediction. I can live with that.
However, I definitely did not say that there was "no reason" not to trade Jackson. Absolutely there's reasons not to trade him. Playoffs help boost fan morale, promote a winning atmosphere, even if you're just one-and-done. The point I'm trying to make is that if Charlotte can get a favorable trade that gets rid of salary, that would be more beneficial than getting a little playoff revenue. I never said they had to, needed to, or were going to. Just that they could and probably should, because playoffs or not, this team isn't going anywhere.
And no, I haven't seen the team since Brown left. Maybe they are turning it around. I'm not a Bobcats fan, and with my own basketball season in full swing, catching other NBA games is rarer and rarer until it ends. If that's an admission that I don't know anything and my opinions are stupid, then sorry, maybe I should just take everything you say from now on as absolute truth.

Well lets actually look at the facts:
1. The players weren't getting along with Larry Brown anymore. Several players, including Jax, hated his system. Since Brown has been fired, they've been playing great basketball.
2. Lets not act like this is some scrubby ass team. Last year they made the playoffs and had one of the best home records in the NBA.
3. They have a pretty talented core in SJax, Crash (both of whom would automatically become our second best scorer), Augustin, Tyrus Thomas, and Diaw.
4. No, there is 0.00000000% chance the Raptors overtake them. I'll bet you 10 dollars against 100 on that one. Want to pony up?

1. I agree that they're playing better...but, there is always the possibly that they are just riding that fresh voice and eventually come back down to earth. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep it up or they crumble. In sports and in life, both scenarios can easily happen.
2. Somewhat, but the team hasn't dramatically changed in terms of personnel and they got embarrassed in the first round. They were leaps and bounds behind the Magic and those top tier teams have reloaded.
3. See 2
4. If the standings are current, they're a game behind the Pacers and have the Sixers and Bucks nipping at their heels. Who knows what happens with Indiana but the Bucks are missing pieces and Philly is essentially and up and down team that is more down than up. With Philly, it just depends on if they can get streaky at a critical moment. There are plenty of unknowns so it's not an automatic lock but their chances are favorable.
