This was my first thought, but he is from Houston and went to Texas A and M. He is also supposedly very religious, so maybe LA the city isn't the draw that it is for most players. I mean he did choose to go to Texas A M.

Whole year we are talking about spacing issues and Devin shot 35% from downtown and 42% overall from the field.
Against Houston a great 0-11 from downtown and 35% from the field. 4 Assist and 4 TO...
His defense is kind of overrated and maybe slightly above average.
I also dont like his decision making, shot selection and idiotic heat checks...

could be a nice point guard for us...
Brazilian point guard Marcelo Huertas plans NBA jump
Dan Feldman @ probasketballtalk.com
Marcelo Huertas has excelled while representing teams of two continents – the Brazilian national team and FC Barcelona.
Now, he’s preparing a jump to a third.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:
After years of playing significant roles in the Euroleague and on the Brazilian national team, point guard Marcelo Huertas is planning a move to the NBA next season, Yahoo Sports has learned.
Huertas, 31, a savvy, athletic 6-foot-3 playmaker and a deft shooter, is expected to be aggressively pursued as a backup guard in July free agency.
Huertas has been anchored to the Spanish ACB League the past six years with long-term deals that contained significant NBA buyouts, but finally is free of those hurdles. He hasn’t ruled out returning to FC Barcelona next year if the right NBA offer doesn’t emerge, but Huertas is determined to take a serious look at joining the NBA.
On one hand, this is the right time, because the NBA has become a pick-and-roll league and Huertas is a pick-and-roll point guard with good floor vision.
On the other hand, this is a tough time, because point guard is such a deep position in the NBA.
Still, Huertas should get offers. Whether any are high enough to convince him to leave Spain is another question that’ll be answered this summer.
“This is the right time,” Huertas told Yahoo Sports.

Devin Harris was very good this past season. The median in three point % is 34.7 the league as a whole has shot it worse, up expectations for PG a bit and Devin was an average shooter for a PG while taking 50% of shots as threes so at a vey high volume. Amongst 74 qualified PG's Harris was 11th in TS% at 55.9%. He is only 37th out of 74 in assist rate but 13th in TO%. I think Harris took step back defensively this year and on/off numbers suggest that, but he was still very good.

Erica - hilarious reference - loved the #antoinerigadeau
I just so badly want a starting pg - and look at available free agents - not much hope.

If the Mavs get something for Harris that helps them to sign a good player they need, i'm all for it.

I wonder if his toe had a lot to do with defense this season. It was definitely nagging him in the playoffs that kept him from doing things

Exactly what I'm thinking as well. LAC knows the free throw handicap and are they willing to break the bank....maybe if someone else is willing to pony up....they might. It's a nice seed thrown out by his agent.

My worry is that we are just being played again in order to force another team to pay. The last thing I want happening is to make a pointless run to get DJ, but while in process we lose Tyson to free agency yet again. Tough call either way.

Jarrett jack would be a great pg here. Think it would take 6m though. He's doing work against the Hawks as we speak

Aminu has (unsurprisingly) waived his 1.1mill player option.
Really hope he stays for more. Playing another year at 1.1 mill would be the biggest steal/ripoff since Parsons almost played this year for 1.4mill

No, Jarrett Jack was absolutely awful for the Nets during the regular season, weird things can happen over small sample sizes. If you want ridiculous contested off the dribble 20 footers, no play making skills, and a guy who doesn't defend, Jack is the guy for you.

Plus, we've had 2 or 3 chances to take him in the last several years and have passed each time.

Jarrett Jack is great off the bench, he's pretty much like a Devin Harris, only without a 3PT shot and costs more. Not worthy to start in current NBA.

Harris is a terrible contract, when I look at how poorly he performed against Houston, and to think we're paying him until 2018? We are a train wreck at the guard position, both PG and SG. It could get ugly next year.

Jarrett Jack hits midrange at 50% clip. Not the greatest on threes, but when I looked deeper, it seems his defense isnt as good as I had built up in my head. And we need defense bad. He does avg more assists and rebounds than Ellis at only 28mpg.

I don't dislike Harris, Barea, or Jack. They can all fill the role of a backup point guard adequately. It's when you try to field a PG rotation with 3 backups, like we did this year, and give the starting nod the the best backup, that we have a problem.

He's like Devin Harris only:
Much less efficient
Much worse on offense
Much worse on defense
Doesn't run team sets

What about Batum as a trade target if LMA goes to SA or someone else? I could see Portland looking to rebuild, Batum's coming off a down year shooting the ball, but is a good ball handler, has a very good track record shooting, and is a terrific passer. He's an overrated defender but a very solid player and I feel Carlisle could get a lot out of him.

I'm not crazy about a Lawson/Ellis backcourt but what if Ellis opts in and we can get Chandler on a 3yr $33mil deal?
We should have enough left (I think) to trade a tpe for Lawson.
Then hopefully get Aminu for MLE.
Trade Felton/2nd rounder for $3mil cash.
Lawson/Barea
Ellis/Harris
Parsons/Aminu
Dirk/Powell
Chandler/?/Sarge
If Ellis is going to take up all of our cap space I'd rather not sign him.
If Ellis opts out then go after Afflalo.
I'd rather have the combo of Lawson/Afflalo than Ellis alone with either Barea or Harris as a starter.

Love the tease but all in all Im still skeptical Mavs can pull it off. Hesitant after all the misses. Sucks the Spurs couldnt finish them off last night.

The odds are dramatically better than LMA coming to Dallas. That said, it's still not a given.

Larry Sanders? Don Kalkstein and the discipline and structure within the Mavs could really benefit him. More so than any other team.
The Nets have to be considering buying out D Williams. I would be surprised if they didn't.
interested in seeing what becomes of the SG situation.

If I had to guess, I would say Doc Rivers. Most player issues can be resolved without the need to invoke leaving.
