I'm still concerned about that athleticism until we see it in action, but Doncic has a talent you just can't teach. He is a hybrid of Harden, Nash, Bird, Ginobili, and Kukoc...which really means he is a one of a kind. We might be seeing a player we've never seen before. THAT is what fans should really be excited about.

Much as people talk about Doncic as a wily European veteran and Jaren Jackson as a young kid full of potential, Jackson is 18. Doncic is 19.
That’s really the insane part. Doncic is so incredibly polished and wily and he’s only a year older than the youngest player in the draft.

Not to mention Luka’s pedigree. He’s not one of these 1 and done kids that’s barely 1 year removed from torching high school kids. He’s been dominating against elite level competition for 3 years now and has 2 championships and an MVP award to show for it.

The Euroleague tracks fouls drawn per game, which I think is awesome. Wish the NBA would do that as well. (Doncic was second, drawing 5.8 fouls per game and drew a whopping 9.0 per 40 minutes.)
|
We just drafted Harden 2.0
Now time for Cuban to make nice with the refs so he and Smith can actually get calls

Can you imagine if Doncic draws those fouls and DSJ actually gets the calls he should have his rookie year? Dirk would be able to play the entire game because he would get a rest after every other offensive play.

Whoa, I guess I've been living under a rock, but I didn't realize Doncic averaged 23 ppg in the euroleague this past season. 23ppg, 5 rpg, 4 apg, 45% fg and 37% on threes? I'm awake now.

Yeah, Doncic is bigger. But we also need to acknowledge that Harden has freakishly long arms. 6'5 with a 6'11 wingspan. I'm guessing Doncic is 6'8 with a 6'10 wingspan.

16.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 4.3 apg, 32.9% from three, in 26 mpg. Also, 61.2 TS% and 53.3 eFG%
PER36: 22.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 6.0 apg

Hmm well this video says the stats I said... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwUq2Z0RVdU I guess they're wrong?
The euroleague site if you go to regular season stats says 22.7 ppg for Real Madrid... http://www.euroleague.net/competitio...2017#!E2017_RS
Edit: Whoops looked at the wrong number on that site.

EuroLeague MVP and Eurobasket champion Luka Doncic is bringing more than just a European flavor in the NBA. “I am excited to play with a legend like Dirk Nowitzki, the best ever European in the NBA”, said the young star in his first official interview and when he was asked about his number, he explained that he chose “77” because he couldn’t get his favorite “7”. “I grew up watching a European player named Vasilis Spanoulis, that’s why I like to wear “7” when I am playing”, said

Well Airport '77 is one if Luka's favorite movies. He can quote Christopher Lee verbatim.

The worst part about Doncic picking 77 is that our font sucks and it looks like 11.

See guys... this is the problem with 'Murica today! Kid comes from overseas and hasn't done shit yet and everyone is plotting and guilt tripping an established hard worker to give up his number. Keep the number Powell! At least make him earn it. He can have the number when he beats him 1v1 in a 3 game to 15 series.

Must spread rep.
Also makes no sense to trade Powell. Jerseys are already manufactured. People have purchased #77 jerseys. Doncic seems fine with it.

In the world of basketball Doncic at age 19 has done WAAAY more shit than Powell at age 27 and probably more shit than Powell ever is going to accomplish. Powell can be happy if he is in two years still on the roster when Doncic is minimum a top-3 player on the roster.
So yeah he can have his number allready

Who gives a crap what number he wears as long as he’s good. He could run out there wearing 69 if he wanted to as long as he’s helping the team win.

I like Doncic, thought it was a quality pick. I still think we need two more parts to make this a playoff caliber team. I hear DeAndre Jordan could be a possible trade partner to Dallas. That would be a very interesting team right there.

With the #3 pick (!) in the NBA draft, the Mavs get Luka Doncic
How long before Luka is sleeved out in tats?

He's in the right city for it -- Dallas has some of the best tattoo artists in the world... Looks like he's already got a bit of a head start:

I still think we pick Ayton at 1, but they def go Doncic at 2. I personally would have gone with Bagley at 2, but hey, I'm not complaining.

Yea, once he’s actually moved to Dallas and gets to explore the city I fully expect his number of tats to increase. I also expect he’ll be pretty popular around Uptown. Hopefully he doesn’t follow the path of Zeke Elliott though.

Drinking age in Spain is 18. I'm sure the dude has witnessed the insanity of Madrid club life. Luckily he's not coming to the US and suddenly going to hear the call of the club.
