The Rockets waived forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu on Friday.
Mensah-Bonsu played a total of 12 minutes in four games this season, averaging 1.3 points. He signed as a free agent on Sept. 3.

Chris Paul injured
Chris Paul had to be helped off the court by teammates after apparently injuring his left ankle late in the third quarter of the Hornets' home game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.
Moments after setting up Hilton Armstrong's dunk, Paul appeared to land on Joel Przybilla's foot, before falling hard to the court.
Paul injured the same ankle earlier in the week against the Clippers.

Ah poor pops
Always though he would be a pretty decent player in this league, still can't find a home. I was so happy when we first signed him his rookie year, thought he would give us that athletic punch like Marion. But never really got a chance / playing time since he was mainly in the D-League. I'm sure some contender will pick him up.

The Whorenets are a mess aren't they. It's kinda fun to watch.
Dust chip for Chris Paul next year works for me!
2 of the teams that destroyed our spirit for awhile are in shambles now. (GS and NO)

Goodness. Brandon Jennings is a BEAST. I guess he was right. He was the best player in this draft. A lot of teams screwed up passing him up. Meanwhile, the Bucks let Richard Jefferson go for nothing, Mike Redd is the same ol' injury prone Mike Redd and the Bucks are 5-2 lol. I pick them to make the post season every year except this year and so far so good for them. They can build that team around Jennings. Hopefully Redd can get healthy and they can make some noise.

They lost Sessions for nothing too. Along with PHX and Sac they're one of the big surprise teams in the early season. Doesn't hurt that they were the best defensive team in the league coming into tonight.
As far as Jennings there are some teams looking real foolish right now. The Knicks are the most obvious I'll bet Nellie wouldn't mind a do over either. I get the feeling that teams dropped him on their boards because they were pissed that he skipped the Euro combine. If that's true it's the talent evaluation equivalent of letting your money get mad.
With us coming to town on the second night of a back to back he could have another strong showing Monday night.

of course, the Mavs wouldn't take Durant if he was offered for free.
-cause his +/- sucked last year.

Finished with 40. but -2 on the +/-, so we wouldn't take him (sorry, but I gotta poke at that idiocy all I can)

I don't know why the Houston announcers try so damn hard to be the worst ones ever. You think you've seen it all then they surprise you again.

Mavs are now tied for third in the West with the Nugs and Fakers....behind Portland and Phoenix?!?! San Antonio currently out of the playoff picture? I know its early and things arent going to stay that way but that is a bizarre conference standing right now.
Also Mavs are currently pretty stinky offensively but pretty decent defensively
19th in FG%
15th in 3pt FG%
2nd in RPG
6th in rebound differential
3rd in BPG
2nd in block differential
9th in Opp PPG
5th in Opp FG%

Is there any way the Suns are for real? I really have a hard time taking them seriously after the past couple of years. Nash is still pretty darn good, but Amare has always been too much of a flake to be counted on seriously and his numbers this year are as low as they have been in quite some time. Richardson is good but not great. They start a center that can't rebound. Grant Hill is solid but is starting to get up there in years. I just look at their roster and can't believe that are 9-2 right now, but they haven't fallen off yet. Can someone tell me how they are doing this?

i hear ya - the other ones i can't figure out are the Rockets. i'm sorry who do they have? Brooks is pretty good but other players are just hard working, good on D, and play well in their system.

Yeah, the Rockets are really surprising me this season. I expected us to start off with two wins so far (Memphis and the Kings), but we have been playing the supposedly "upper-echelon" teams in the west pretty damn well. We just need one superstar with this squad. It's too bad Brooks won't be an All-Star this year, since the West is loaded with PGs, but he just needs to stay consistent and I can see it happening.

Rockets are just a proof of concept of hustle anarchy. They have very few drawn-up plays and a lot of the guys are very similar in size. The team just hustles its buns off and its paid off. They still cant beat many talented teams and hustle ball tends to fade out over an 82 game season, but they are way overperforming at this point because of sheer hustle, chemistry and talent (even if a lot of it is at the same position)
Suns are 10th in reb diff, 2nd in spg but amazingly have the 4th worst opponent FG% from 2 and 3. They are just third best in FG%, and are shooting 46.3% from three as a team which is the real secret. I'd contend that no team that is in the bottom 5 in defense can continue to win at such a high pace and that the Suns will not continue to shoot the three at the ridiculously high rate of 46%+. The Sun will set.

Weren't there rumors that Jennings was a major knucklehead? I know when I read about his progress from time to time over in Europe, the reports weren't always glowing. I gotta believe that's why he dropped so far, in addition to the fact that he didn't really do much at all while he was over there. At the same time, all you had to do was watch a few highlight reels of the kid to know he was ultra-talented. He definitely intrigued me more at the time than the Jordan Hills and Demar Derozans of the world. I liked Curry a lot though so I can't totally fault Nellie for picking him up even if it turns out to be the wrong choice in hindsight.

Knicks screw up huge the last 2 drafts. They missed to draft for a team they can stick James or Bosh in and its ready...
Hill ovr Jennings
Gali over Gordon or Lopez
Jennings
Gordon/Chandler
James/Chandler
Lee/James
Curry/Lee
or
Jennings
Chandler
James
Lee
Lopez
Now they have no young PG, no pure SG and a bunch of wings + Lee...

They just signed Chris Duhon to a contract a year or 2 ago didn't they? He is only like 27 which is pretty young in my book.

Grant Hill has been real solid this year. It's crazy because he's like 37 years old, but he hasn't played near that many games because of all those injuries he had. His rebounding has been amazing (8 a game). Nash has looked great thus far too, and they've got the lane cleared with Frye at the 5, and he's been popping threes like crazy. But, like you said, Amare isn't the same, and I don't think their defense and rebounding is good enough to get higher than the 5 seed.

Like always, the Suns will have trouble in the playoffs once their opponents have a significant amount of time to gameplan against their fast-break offense. It is incredibly difficult to go out there and defend that thing on 1 (or no) days of practice and gameplanning, but that all changes in the playoffs.

The Suns are winning for a number of reasons that none of you have talked about:
1) Bench production, primarily on defense. Despite being a bunch of no-names, guys like Jared Dudley, Lou Amundson, and Goran Dragic are playing great defense and are building leads rather than losing them.
2) Alvin Gentry is coaching these guys to play defense, unlike Mike 'Antoni. Amare and Nash are playing the best defense of their lives, and as a team they're holding opponents to a ridiculously low FG percentage in the 4th quarter. They're getting stops when they need them and executing on offense in the clutch.
3) Despite the size disadvantage, the Suns are outrebounding teams because of a "gang rebounding" philosophy instituted by Alvin Gentry. The reason why Frye and Amare have low rebounding averages is because they're boxing out effectively for the wings, Grant Hill and JRich. Hill and JRich have more rebounds this season than any other 2-3 combo in the league.
4) Because there are 3 or 4 players attacking the glass on every possession, the Suns are getting far fewer fastbreak points. In previous years, this would have hurt, but the Suns are also executing very well in the half-court. Amare is scoring off isos, JRich and Grant Hill can both create their own shot, and Nash can do anything he wants with the ball.
This is not the '06-'07 Suns team. The superstars are the same, but the personnel around them is much different.

Actually dude, I mentioned Hill's rebounding.
And no, Amare's defense is still deplorable.

12 games played today, and here's the NBA.com headline: "Celtics drop short-handed Warriors"
They beat the Warriors? A short-handed team in turmoil that isn't any good anyway? At home? The NBA's love for the you-know-who trio of teams gets even more f*cking ridiculous.
