Kind of true (I live in SD) but watching Utah and New Orleans they each are very finess and "soft" like the mavs but that is never pointed out

The part that pisses me off is, Chris Weber "why not just run through Dallas". And he's the biggest choke artest in basketball history.

I can't tell you how many times I've gotten into arguments with friends who say Dirk is soft. Dirk in my opinion is a hard nosed player. He plays a "finesse" game, but nobody gets bumped, held and no call fouled as much as Dirk does. A lot of that is the product of his type of game, and probably other factors that I won't get into, but it's the truth.
The Mavs as a whole? I'd say they're a pretty tough squad in general honestly.

C-Webb certainly is in no position to ever call any player, team, or other entity "soft."

FWIW, these guys aren't throwing the game. They're clearly not going full throttle, but they obviously aren't scared of playing the Jazz in the playoffs.

Agreed, if anything I would say the Mavs aren't really that athletic but not that soft.

The Jazz's defense over the past couple weeks has been such an abortion. Mavs drop 130, Warriors (in Utah) drop like 113, Lakers on pace for 120...

You guys are acting like you've never seen a Lakers game. They love to start off slow, and then about 3 quarters in, Kobe decides he wants to play a little and the Lakers go on like a 20-2 run.

It has been this way since their one really hot streak they had. One of the reason is both their bigs are "weak" and get abused down low and don't alter shots against penetration. The only big guy who can play defense for utah is Millsap

So let me get this straight.
If the Lakers win tonight then the Jazz are locked into the 8th seed correct?

Kind of scary. I think the Lakers are more than good enough to collectively say "alright, time to stop fooling around."
When you can flick it on and off like the Lakers can... then.. good luck to ya.

Lakers need to close it out by pushing the ball and going to the rim.
I agree about Dirk. People whine about Shaq not getting officiated fairly. But Dirk's defender is always allowed to put his hands all over Dirk even though Kobe, Wade, LeBron's defender would have been called for fouls on the same thing. He gets treated like a big even though he is setting up 20 feet from the hoop.

That's an 18-point lead by a team who basically mailed in the first half of a game against a playoff team. Scary.

They better get attention here, haha...but people can be highly critical of them as well. They have every right to and they deserve it quite a bit. They're not free of criticism. Sometimes it gets a bit out of hand, but it's not a blind love fest here.

Utah can probably thank Deron for that. He wanted to try to man up on Bynum and jack at Kobe. If LA was "going through the motions" that definitely set them up. Utah had a good thing going having that counter-push run and then they started to fall back again.
Fouls/going to line probably kept Utah in this game a lot longer than they should've been.

The switch is officially on. Phil Jackson said let there be light... and the Lakers obliged.

The Lakers toyed with them for three quarters and decided to put it away in the 4th.
Good luck Jazz... you'll be lucky to win 1.

Absolutely. Utah unnecessarily awoke the beast. Now they have the privilege of being summarily dismissed by that beast in the postseason.

Its amazing how different the Lakers look when they actually want to play well. For the first 3 quarters, they were basically cruising, looking like a regular playoff team (lower seed team) and letting the Jazz do whatever they want. Then, in the 4th, they suddenly look like the best team in the NBA. They are just unbelievably good when they are completely into the game.

Are the TNT guys stupid, or did I hear them wrong? They explained the seeding situation in a pretty interesting way a few minutes ago.
I'm going to bed assuming the Lakers got this.

Hmmm. I was switching channels so I probably missed some parts of the game. What did Deron do?

Deron just ran down the court, set a screen on Bynum... didn't even slow down. Just did a full blown tackle on him. He looked like Larry Allen swinging around the end trying to make a hole for Emmitt.

Well...
Bynum threw one down and as he ran back he ran into Williams. He might've been able to move...might not have, either way Williams took offense to that. The next play down or soon there after, Williams made it a point to really put some meat into a pick he threw on Bynum. It wasn't necessary and really wasn't involved in the action of the play and he got called for a foul and lead to a timeout and Williams and Kobe were talking back and forth.
At that point, Utah bent over.

Thanks. I didn't see that.
Well, I'm just glad that LA finally decided to play well. At least a Jazz loss won't put too much pressure on the Mavs when they play the Rockets.

And on the last day of the season, on the last game of the season... the Mavs seize the opportunity to get the 6th/7th seed. I've been critical of their blown opportunities all year. It has been frustrating as all hell to me, but they finally did it.

Yeah, but with it being last game and all I wasn't sure which Laker team would show up since They really don't need the win.
