Tru dat.
I don't want to have my tv in any danger of objects being thrown at it because JR Smith jacked up a 27 ft three pointer with 19 seconds left on the shot clock.

Rudy Update: Through 9 games he's averaging just over 16 ppg shooting 49% from the field and 41% from deep.

Don't know if anyone posted this...
Quote:
The overseas injury bug has hit Dallas Mavericks shooting guard Rudy Fernandez, who has been playing for Real Madrid.
Fernandez twisted his left knee during a game Thursday night and it was initially feared he could be out for up to a month. Results of a MRI exam revealed he has a distension on the left popliteus muscle, according to a report on team's website, and is expected to miss a week.
Fernandez has an out in his contract and he will join the Mavs when the lockout is lifted. With a tentative labor agreement in place, NBA training camps are expected to open on Dec. 9.
The Mavs acquired Fernandez in a trade on draft night from the Portland Trail Blazers.

If Rudy is at all hesitating in the face of a chance to play for the defending champions, I'm not sure I want him here, talented or not. That said, if he comes to training camp requesting a buyout, I would happily offer him exactly $0. Otherwise, he had better stay positive and bust his ass every single day, or he's never leaving the bench.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that quote should have ended with "after this season".

Hey if he doesn't want to be here, fine, money to spend elsewhere. if he does, great, another athlete to run with Kidd. Either way, we should be okay.

Rudy Fernandez’s plan is to join the Mavericks next week and play with them this year,” the source said. “Asking for a buyout is not an option at this moment at all. He wants to play with Dallas and do a good job there.
Plan A is for him to play with Dallas,” the source said. “I wouldn’t even call this plan B, more like plan C, but there’s a small chance the Mavericks could be asked to accept a buyout or asked to use the amnesty clause on Rudy if things are not looking good for him there, if there’s not a decent role for him there… Now that’s when the option of leaving Dallas would be considered. But there’s nothing true about that report right now.

Use the amnesty on Rudy...that's a good one. Quality reporting there. Really clued in.

I just don't get it, all these reports of him wanting to play in Real Madrid, wanting a buyout, blah, blah, blah. This is the freaking world champs, the freaking world champs actually want you on their freaking team. It's not like we're the Blazers. I just don't get it.

Rudy just needs to be in that locker room for five minutes to be convinced to stay. I'm really not worried.

Wonder how Rudy is going to feel when everyone gets handed a championship ring except him...

Can this guy take on Terry's role as 6th man when Terry's deal expires? I was thinking this might be the 6th man of the future, he can score, create, tremondous athlete. Perfect replacement for Terry.

It's likely there's going to be a Mav or two on this year's team who wasn't on last year's.

Hopefully he feels inspired by being a part of a championship team, and it makes him want to try to work hard to get a ring of his own.

I'm pretty sure Booby's first surgeon wasn't responsible for filing Rudy's visa paperwork. I'd also bet that there's more to the story than is indicated by hoopshype's "source" (which is probably just some dude who can read a little bit of spanish), and that the fact that teams have been barred from communicating with players for the last five months somehow figured into this.

Probably the lockout, they couldn't be in contact with the player, I'm sure in order to get these docs, you needed his signatures. Now the first day team's were allowed to contact players was what, Monday, or late last week when they got in to the gym? Now INS will probably say it takes 2-4 weeks to process the docs, they could give a temporary one until the papers are processed.....

Good points.
I think I'm heated over the Mavs' cap situation.
