This team honestly still wasn't closing out games even with those two guys around because they are both just backups

This describes who the mavs are this year even when fully healthy

The Mavs lead the NBA with 18 losses by five or fewer points. Dallas is 2-10 in games where the final score is decided by three points or less.
And yet both those wins in close games came before the Powell/Brunson injuries.

Also, Brunson is 3rd in clutch points on this team and 4th in eFG% in the clutch (only Powell, Kleber, and DFS beat him in terms of efficiency in the clutch).

Powell is 9th in points scored in the clutch, but a team-best 100% in eFG and he doesn't even have to score points to open up the lane and draw a defender when he can so efficiently work without the ball.

I understand you really like to be negative so any positive conversation triggers you, but both guys helped even though they "frustrated" you or were liabilities by some unnamed criterion (your personal opinion)

Meh, both of those guys are liabilities regardless of the garbage analytics you throw out there. Yeah, Powell is so clutch that he should be playing the 5 spot over KP according to your stats. SMH That's just stupid.

Keep going. I love people that answer actual stats with "meh, my opinion says otherwise" and build strawmen like claiming I'm saying things I'm not saying.

You and Dallas41 deserve each other.

The lack of veteran leadership is a problem with the current roster. The offense looks very good-to-great for one half or maybe three quarters, but later in the game it seems to fall apart. Opponent defenses ramp up and become less predictable and the Mavs look like deer in the headlights. This has been a problem all year it seems to me. Not many options with the current roster but perhaps playing JJB down the stretch could help. Has he even played a minute in the rebooted season? I don't think so. Burke has been hot, Curry should be heating up, Wright provides some length and defense, but none of the above seem able to help run an offense late in a close game. That leaves Luka and KP to run the show and everyone else hanging around the three point line just waiting to throw up a 28 foot shot. That is not likely to win many playoff games.

With such an incredibly small sample size I wouldn't draw any conclusions

The 0-8 after isn't telling at all?
