In the event someone wanted to poke holes in your conspiracy (which of course would be very bad form)....
Dallas was actually up by 11 when Duncan came out of the game in the second quarter. He had made only one basket and two free throws through the first half of the second quarter. Dallas extended their first quarter lead by 8 in the 6 minutes before Duncan came out and by 7 in the 6 minutes after he came out.
After all was said and done, Duncan could have easily played 40 minutes plus had he not been yanked in the 4th and replaced with the white flag brigade.
