Barea had n alley oop chance to Hollins and missed the pass. But when he did get it from Bass, he needed to either protect a little better or go a little stronger.

I think you're going to have to get used to Hollins playing that far from the basket. It looks like he doesn't have any major interest or ability to post up and create from there, he needs a facilitator to finish. He'll go out that far for a pick and hope he is able to roll cleanly for a lob pass.
Bass is playing really nice right now, he looks like he is in complete control out there.

I guess Nellie left his magic wand in his other pants tonight. I thought he "owned" us. It looks like he doesn't really own his team right now. I agree with others about the GS body language. They didn't seem particularly interested.

What a deafening silence in here tonight.
I love a nice busy message board during and after a game but that seems to take place only during the bad times. It's a shame.

Really, really impressive. Who do the Mavs play next now? I think I'll take that team, regardless of who it is to win by about twenty against the Mavs
Everyone knows how Golden State wants to play. Once upon a time, the Mavs couldn't do anything about it, and they got drilled. I thought the team was much more prepared to deal with it tonight, although they were much better a year ago against the Warriors too. But it was a really nice win.
I thought the two best things about tonight's game were:
1. Coming back at the Warriors after Golden State started out on fire. I wanted to see if the Mavs would respond, and they did.
2. After jumping on top of Golden State, I wanted to see if they would let the Warriors back into the game. They didn't.
Dirk did a better job of attacking inside. Nice to see against a team that plays him small. Also, I think it's probably worth pointing out that it does help when you have a guard who can get the ball to him better against those kinds of defenders.
I was thrilled for Josh Howard tonight. I haven't found myself hoping for a player to succeed in a while the way that I am Josh. I know we've all been talking about trading him and what we could get for him, and that may be exactly what happens. But I want to be honest, I just want the old Josh. I think that guy is better than anything the Mavs could get right now...I don't know why he can't be that guy either? I thought I saw more great signs from Josh tonight though. And there's no doubt that he's the difference maker for this team.
Jason Terry, your Sixth Man of the Year.
Brandon Bass would get some consideration from me as Seventh Man of the Year too. He's really pretty important to this team as a guy who can score, attack, and defend several positions.
Damp was really good tonight too. Someone already mentioned it, but there's a big part of me that wonders if that series a couple of years would have been different if he had just been healthy and/or playing.
James Singleton was awfully productive tonight.
Antoine Wright continues to impress me. I thought he played a very good defensive game, and I think he helps the team when he gets to the basket.
Jason Kidd did his thing again.
I just wish I knew that we could see this team all the time. Don't get me wrong, I still think this group needs help. A guy like Stack would still help this group a bunch, and if you could get a quality player for Stack's deal, that would help too. But I don't see any reason why this team can't compete against anybody and make a push in the second half of this season.

Like I said in Hollins' first game as a Mav, they need to get him in the weight room pronto and build up upper body and leg strength and stability. And he needs a SAQ program going forward.

Josh really is the X-factor for this team, you know what you'll get from Dirk and Jet, so that just leaves Josh as the next major cog for production. If he can keep productivity moving in the flow of the offense it really brings a lot to this team. If he falters, it really hurts our chances. Obvious, I know but it still holds true.
Wright played pretty solid defense tonight. He's really good with his footwork guarding out on the perimeter. He seems to run into some problems when his man tries to take him near the block and post him up, but if he's guarding on the outside, I feel pretty good about his chances. It's not going to happen this year I think but he just needs to build consistency with his jumper. He can get into the lane and finish or dish once he's there but it would REALLY open things up if he could be a consistent jump shooter...just as long as he doesn't fall in love with it!
Singleton is going to be an interesting player to watch for a bit. He definitely has earned some minutes any time he gets on the court. If he isn't scoring he is bring rebounds or defense, tonight he brought a lot of nice things to the court. They just need to find a specific role for him and get him some time, I think he'll continue to bring stuff to the team as long as he is out there.

that's been a staple of the playbook for a while. Give it to a big man in the the elbow extended to clear out the paint. Our most efficent sets are initiated that way.

But the other team doesn't come out on Damp to guard him, because they know he can't shoot, nor can he handle the ball. So that is like 5 of them guarding 4 of us. Plus, I am talking about our guys giving the ball to Damp way out there and when they don't even really need to get rid of the ball.

Matt Carroll looks like he can get silly behind the arc playing side by side with Terry! Much love for everyone else they played extremely well! The mavs are going to have to play alot harder from now on the post season is getting closer and I would like the mavs to enter the western conference playoffs that aren't number 8!

21 of the final 36 games are @ home after this trip to Florida and only 1 of them is against BOS/ORL/LA/CLE aka the elite. Assuming this team can atleast play .500 basketball on the road we can finish on the good side of 50 wins.

I was pretty pleased with the way josh played offense tonight. Defensively he was active but kinda reckless.
Josh took shots when open, ran a little bit and even passed the ball around instead of taking a shot. This josh was pretty good.

Actually I think the Mavs can play even better than they did tonight.
Kidd for instance, was mostly terrible. Completely useless.

When we start labeling a group of mostly Eastern teams as the "elite", one can't help but wonder just what in the eff is going on anymore in this league.

This is arguably the best overall performance the Mavs have had all season. It's very probable that the Warriors played a huge part on why the Mavs cruised the way they did, but regardless it was wonderful to see the entire team cruise from the outset.
We just need consistency.

That's pretty much what it boils down to now. If they can keep working defensively and keep trying to get better every day and not take massive steps backwards, then maybe they can make a good run. If they can just keep at it defensively they'll be in games, even when the shooting is off. Once they see the jumpers aren't working they really don't react or adjust offensively or defensively. More often that not they will just keep trying to shoot their way out of it instead of attacking...and they'll pretty much give up defensively.
They really need to make a good push going into the break. Since the brutal start and immediate bounce back streaks, they haven't had a win streak of more than 3 games. They really need to build up and get a good 5-6 game win streak somewhere down the line...really get things rolling.
P.S. DA is 1-0 as an assistant.

Josh Howard had a really good game. Played defense, drove a little, and shot when he needed to, not forcing shots. He passed the ball a lot to Dirk, which was nice to see for a change. And add on top of this that he was shooting very well, which would have lead me to believe that Howard would want the ball and try to force shots thinking they would go in just because his shots were falling at the time.
Antoine Wright really showed me something. Not just a flash of defensive ability here and a glance at his defensive ability there. He seemed very active the entire game.
I don't know about you, but Bass is a very, very, very good player. He's so strong, such a finisher around the basket, and coupled with his 15-18 foot jumper range, he's deadly. He's an average rebounder, probably above average, and a very good blocker, although the rest of his defense is a little lacking. But when he puts it all together and plays like he did last night, he's just amazing. He is the one player who I know will bring energy night in and night out. He always does, every game.

I loved the standing ovation in AAC when the game clock ticked down - that's the most pumped-up I've seen our crowd get in a long time, despite the lower bowl already being empty...
I think our Mavs deserved it and I'm proud to see our fan base bring it!

Good win but man this Dallas team is extremely inconsistent. They play horrible one night and terrific the next.
What got into Josh tonight? He actually looked like he cared.
