Nash would be a great deal. He's overpaid but he's still one of the greatest Mavs, he's still playing at a pretty high level and most importantly, he's a true expiring so it would make this summer FA push 2mill easier. Plus, it would be a fitting end for two of the greatest PGs since Stockton to end a career together in blue. Nash is always welcome back in Dallas.
Then Kidd could retire and become a coach. If we snag Deron, Nash could back him up. If we lose out, Nash could easily start for one more year.

Nash is not overpaid. He makes $11 million in the last year of his contract. He's not even in the top 30 in salary. He's a two time MVP. Gilbert Arenas is making $19 million this year. Gilbert Arenas isn't playing for anyone this season. That is overpaid.
Nash is leading the league in assists and he's surrounded by garbage (oh, and he made the All Star team too). He's never had anything buy gimmicky coaches (Nelson, Dantoni), yet pulled in two MVPs. He's not amazing at defense, but he's not overpaid. To claim he's overpaid is BS.

According to the guy who tweeted that pic, that is Odom, his agent, and Cuban.

I mentioned a trade idea a week or so ago in the Roddy B thread.
Odom, Roddy B, Mahinmi
for
Nash, Lopez
I'd do it in a second.

Suns trade all expirings for all expirings except for Odom who is guaranteed at least 2.4mill next year.

BG, what is your sense on this? Is what the Mavs saying true and is really the chance of Odom being bought out effectively 0%? Is there a possibility of trade/shopping?

Exactly. That is one thing I could never see Cuban doing. He will get value out of LO either riding him on the bench or trading him.

Why in the world would PHX trade Nash for Odom? That doesn't make any sense on their part. Nash is a cash cow for PHX. Without Nash why would you go to a Suns game? We really don't even have any young talent to package with Odom. I guess Mahinmi but he's a free agent after this year. Roddy is a bust. There is no benefit for the Suns in that deal.

We could definitely package Roddy, Ian and Dojo... I don't think any other serious contenders that are in the market for Nash are going to offer a whole lot either. I think there's a strong possibility that if Nash is traded, it's a three team deal where a contender gets Nash, sends expirings to a third team, and the third team sends the rebuilding pieces to the Suns.
How about this trade:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMa...radeId=72mvvmf
Dallas sends Roddy/Terry to MIN, receives Nash/Hill.
Phoenix sends Hill/Nash to Dallas, receives Beasley/Wes Johnson/Mahinmi/Odom (plus $3M to offset his buyout, and Phoenix can always reduce that amount by buying him out this year to reduce their cap hit).
Minnesota sends Beasley/Wes Johnson to Phoenix, receives Roddy/Terry.
There might have to be draft picks thrown in there, but that gives Phoenix two pretty good starting-caliber players in Beasley and Wes as well as Mahinmi. Minnesota gets two guys to help shore up their two-spot, and we get Nash and Hill.

I agree with you about the fact that Nash is better than Odom, Beaubois and Mahinmi.
But the trade deadline is in only two weeks and Nash has also an expiring contract so if the Suns do not trade him, they may lose him for nothing this summer. And the Suns have no chance to go on playoffs this year.
So I think it is possible that the Suns accept this offer. But it depends on what the others teams interested in Nash offer to Phoenix and it also depends on Nash's decision.
Beaubois is a sort of young prospect and there were some trades in the past with a young prospect + other players vs. an old all-star

The only way the Mavs are going to get Nash is if he demands to be traded to Dallas, otherwise Phoenix can do a lot better than Odom/Roddy/Mahinmi... Hell, getting nothing but cap relief for Nash might be better than that package, since none of those guys will be putting butts in seats the way that Nash will for the rest of this season...

If we can just get his 2.4 mil off next years cap I'll be happy. If they get a player that can actually contribute to this years team it will be a huge win.

Probably only if Nashie asked for it.

Roddy could finally get out from under the ogre Carlisle and go to a team that stinks so he can get the playing time he "deserves".

Fuck this guy...seriously. When you make 8MUSD/year, you are not entitled to feelings at work. Get the fuck over it. What a Nancy.
I think Harp was making fun of him last night for saying that he (Harp) was out tonight with "Hurt Feelings."

Agreed, I would assume, the buyout amount would be divided by 2 and added into this year and next year. Sort of a permanent waste of cap space. Can't see Cubes locking himself in like that. I think the owner going out to see his player, speaks volumes about the organization itself, glad to see Schwartz involved as well.
