@tim_cato: Players who have scored 40 at age 37 or older: Jordan, Kareem, Karl Malone, and now Dirk.

Next game up against portland. These 2 should be looked at as a playoff game. Time to fight for standings position. Got this game nicely.

What a great finish! I hope Carlisle recognizes the impact of shot blocking and shot altering now.

I don't think I can control myself. You guys have no idea how big of a Dirk fan I am. My entire room is full of Dirk signed items and Dirk jersey's.
Finals Score 132-120
Dirk with 40 points and 8 rebounds
Dwill with the quiet 31 points and 16 assist
Best win of the season IMO. Now just waiting for some Dirk highlight on youtube!!!

You want to see exciting Mavs? Mejri and McGee at center. Dirk and Lee at 4. Big energetic shot blocking centers make a difference.

Put me down for Salah/Zaza/Mcgee center rotation. Lee taking up minutes at 4 and 5.
We still need parsons scoring is the problem. We can't outgun any team consistently. Today was amazing but an outlier for 3s and for Wes and Deron.

@ESPNNBA: Deron Williams is the first Mavs player with 30+ Pts and 15+ Ast in a game since Jason Kidd in 1996.
@ESPNNBA: @swish41 is the oldest player to score 40 Pts since Karl Malone in November 2003.

Glad I got my money's worth.
Mavs have a team option on Salah for next season right?

Zaza is played out. No lateral movement or lift. Did you watch the first quarter?

And of course Portland has Mason Plumlee who the Mavs could have easily drafted.
I think I've changed my mind on Aminu though. He still disappears in games and bricks those open threes.

Just incredible stuff. Let's hope they bring this intensity again on Wednesday!
Dirk, D-Will and Salah played out of their minds. Matthews was good.
Funny enough I wouldn't mind playing against GSW in the first round. Obviously we wouldn't win four times, but we've played good games against them this season. It could be fun. Against San Antonio it would be very miserable.

Right there with you. I couldn't enjoy this game at all even though it seems like everyone else did. I just kept waiting for them to fuck it up somehow (and they came awfully close to it). My confidence on the ability of this team to win games is at an all time low right now.

People are insane to suggest Dirk should walk or retire. He literally IS the Mavericks.
Sucks though because this team could have been something with some actual reliable talent.

He didn't say Salah wouldn't see an increased role, just that there were no guarantees... You make it sound like he answered a question with a solid "no."

Also, its not like you haven't fabricated quotes from Rick in the past -- you don't get the benefit of the doubt after you've cried wolf.

The reason Rick is right in saying that is because of how awful Justin Anderson was today. I would say though that the difference is the team desperately needs Mejri's shot blocking versus Anderson's energy.

If you think the mavs will be okay with riding mejri til he's burned out you're crazy. We still need Zaza, in a much more limited role since Carlisle has rode him tired, but still needed.

@SaadYousuf126: Asked Dirk about how great he was and he replied with:
1) D-Will also had a good game
2) Salah had a good game
3) I missed some easy shots
I know German culture is a bit different than ours, but somebody needs to tell Dirk that the appropriate response would be to whip it out and lay it on the table.

Shot blocking presence can disrupt offensive flow and I think we saw some of that today. I don't think we can rely on Mejri like that every night but we definitely need to see more of him imo.

Coach Rick Carlisle praised Mejri but made no promises on the 29-year-old rookie's role moving forward. "Salah's kept himself ready," Carlisle said. "The stars aligned for a difference-making performance. Are there any guarantees? Hell no."
The stars aligned? Shutup Rick. It wasn't by some magical chance he produced. You're too gd stubborn to admit it. He only has 5 solid years if that in the NBA being 29. If you think he's going to sit around and waste it on the bench, might as well release him to a team that will use his skills.

I also thought that was a very shitty thing for a coach to say. Way to keep him motivated.

I said early in the season that
Mejri is 100X > Zaza and that Mejri should be the starter while Zaza the backup
Go look it up if history exists on this site. I am also going to be right in the end how Parsons will never live up to his contract. Mavs looked so much better without Parsons this game. I think Parsons holds us back because most of his points are empty. They should create a new stat called the empty stat cause that is what Parsons is good at. Parsons either stands around the 3 point line or does pump fakes 24/7. He also doesn't bring the fear to opponents like Dirk or even Dwill does. He's just Parsons and that is all he'll ever be. We need another Dirk. Not another Parsons if we're going to pay max money.
Starting 5 next season when Parsons signs with a lottery team like the Orlando Magic
Deron Williams
Wesley Matthews
Batum/Anderson
Dirk/Lee
Mejri/Zaza

So weird. I saw the post game presser. It was almost like he was pissed off that he Salah forced him to use him. My only solace is that RC knows what time it is. It's basically the playoffs right now, and he owes it to Dirk to play the players that is going to get them there. RC can be stubborn, but he isn't stupid. I think Salah played himself into a much larger role despite what he says.

Many on this board declare McGee a stiff. He can do a lot of the same things as Mejri with a stronger body. McGee has been a severely injured player who is healthy now. His problem is RC's dog house. RC doesn't admit errors easily so MCGee will wear a suit the rest of the year.
Andrerson made a defensive error, pissed of RC and was dog housed for the game. He abuses people. Free agents won't come here if they have other options. Players talk to each other.

I think Rick has his core set (Dirk/DWill/Parsons/Matthews/Barea/Harris/Felton/Lee) who will play no matter what. He'll pick through the rest to see who fits at a particular time. Tonight was Mejri and now we probably won't see Anderson for a while. Next game could be someone else.
Once Mejri makes a mistake or has a bad game look for DNP CD again.
