LOL, okay, we seriously have to be just tanking now, right?
And even if we are just tanking, how the hell are we going to fill out 90% of the cap?

So Conley just got paid like he's Lebron. While we saved good money not bringing brittle Parsons back. So there's plenty of time to sign a competitive team. Don't be that guy. Especially don't be that guy if Wade joins the Mavs, eh

What guy am I being exactly?
Time isn't the issue. It's the players that are still available- which the Mavs are apparently not even bothering to go after.
SO.... If the Mavs aren't even going after the talented players that are still out there (who are these players btw? I'm looking at the remaining free agents, and it looks pretty baron.
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/20...ill-available/) that indicates to me that they're in tank mode. Which is fine by me, but even if you tank, you're still required to spend 90% of your cap. So the question remains- how do you spend the rest of your cap? If I'm understanding the rules correctly, you are required by the NBA to then spend insane amounts of money on D-league scrubs. (It was a rhetorical question, btw.)

The plan?
Seduce Wade. Get him to agree. Then we run to Houston and refuse all calls from him while we negotiate with Whiteside. Whiteside signs under duress from Rick and the promise Wade will be gone from Miami.

If we decide the "development" route, do we trade Matthews? Lots of teams with cap room and maybe we can get a young player or a pick for him

I see Matthews as our Finley. He'll bridge us over while being high character.

Do we want a bridge or do we want to be as bad as possible for one year and hopefully get lucky in the draft?
Matthews can be responsible for us winning a couple extra games. Do we want that?

I think you're totally overestimating Matthews' abilities. Dude wasn't very good last year and with an even worse supporting cast I don't see him improving

I'd say a few years as opposed to just one. Unless there's an absolute Duncan/Lebron-level sure thing in next year's draft.

Even if we don't (and I don't at this point), if we're going to tank then it seems we have too much cap room for our own good. That's what I was getting at earlier.

Cuban would have said it outright if they missed out on Whiteside he wants to tank.

So we want him to pick us over Chicago and Bucks and we tell him he is coming off the bench? And if he only plays his usual 55-60 games how will we even make the playoffs? He's missed about 100 games over the last 5 years.

How many guys can we get on one-year deals? How many expiring contracts can we absorb so we can pull the same bullshit next summer too?

But you can acquire bad contracts from capped out teams and get a pick

I guess give Dirk a max contract and trade for Tyson? See if you can give Tyson a raise too under CBA so we can fil more cap space.

Better scenario if he played alongside JJ or Devin. Wade is good at isolation post up playing. He could go for it depending on what center we start. Cause I would like to see him play next to Mejri working with the bench.

Yep... Except this year it's easier for him to honor his word, given Dirk's opt-out, Parsons' exit, and our inability to sign a top-tier FA. At this point., nobody's gonna be mad if Cuban blows it up.

If the Clippers get Durant, what would they pay for us to take Pierce? I'm sure there are other teams wanting to move players

Talk about an all vet team if Wade decides going to play for Dallas. Defensive upgrade forward guard wise.

If the Mavs really are going after Wade, then they haven't decided to tank just yet. That's not a tank move. It says more than their lack of interest in players like Mahinmi.

NOPE
@ShamsCharania: Free agent guard Kent Bazemore has agreed to a four-year, $70M deal to re-sign with Atlanta, league sources tell The Vertical.

#freedirk....it's time. Do what's right by the man who's too honorable to do what he knows he must say: "my whole life has been about this moment johnny..cmon compadre" to which Cuban should respond: "Vaya con Dios, He's not coming back".

Much different options can open up if Wade signs here. Who knows if he can ask Deng to join him too.

Yeah who knows? I said if. The Woj article didn't give any specifics about degree of effort among the four teams.

I greatly dislike Wade
BUT if we can sin him and Hartford and maybe Deng
Williams/Wade
Matthews/ Wade
Deng/ Anderson
Dirk/ Hartfod
Hartford/ Mejri
That's still a pretty decent team and look to improve the PG position or get another PF
