Then we watch Roddy and Dojo become allstars and Mahinmi as a solid starting center on another team in the future while we struggle to rebuild.

If you believed in KARMA you would think the Mavs would have won the title one of these past years with what happened with Miami

Yeah, it was a random mention, that ship sailed. They shopped him hard in the summer, but right now they obviously have no intention to trade him. So i guess we're looking at Jackson, Wallace (maybe), Hamilton, Prince (maybe?), Igoudala (maybe)?

Looks like Caron is going in for the MRI now based on his tweet...and his nice shower cap.

I'd say Jackson, Hamilton, and Iguodala are all very available. Wallace, despite a few rumors, I'd imagine will stay in Charlotte.
I haven't heard much about Prince's availability, and its not like he has an awful contract that Detroit wants gone, and he has been with the team for a long time. However, he is 30, and so he's not a young piece they want to hang onto. If he is available, I'd be interested...his stats are way better than I realized. 15 points a game on 50% shooting from the floor and 44% from the field. That's almost exactly what Butler was giving us in only 2 more mpg...slightly less points, slightly more efficient (which would make you think he could score as much as Butler if he needed to, and his efficiency would only drop to what Butler's was), but practically the same. Plus, isn't he known as a pretty good defender? Its probably wishful thinking, because he's not being mentioned in trade rumors like the others are starting to be, but he does look like he could easily fill Butler's role if we could get him. And, of course, being on a better team should make him even better, right?

"Goin in" --> is that old, or is he actually taking a second MRI?
Edit: Well, it seems like he's going in for surgery:

Nice. Seems like it's "only" a partially torn patella tendon.

I guess he did take an MRI yesterday. Look at my edited part, might be good news, though nothing official yet.

Guess they wait the doc to open the knee and perform the surgery before they wanna tell the potential timetable of a return.
At least looks like its not a done for season full torn

I'm no doctor, but it SEEMS like the MRI didn't show anything so they're scoping his knee to see if they find something. If true, this is encouraging news.

...or he's having surgery based on the MRI results. I can't remember an athlete with a knee injury who had to have surgery to determine the injury itself. Most of the time, one would think, the operation is being done to fix the problem.

Actually, I believe the procedure known as a "having your knee scoped" is in large part an exploratory measure...to assess the damage. I think they take the opportunity to clear the debris, etc., and I could be totally wrong.
Either way, I guess it's all speculation at this point.

Caplan just posted that Butler had surgery.
This was something we were debating while waiting for shootaround...whether his picture indicated an MRI or a scope or something major.

That's definitely a fairly common exploratory knee procedure. No idea if that's what Caron underwent, but you're not wrong.

Well, they never really know the situation until they go in with the scope. My son just went through this. It was his ankle and they said they were just going to clean it up a bit, but when they went in it was worse than they thought, and so they did micro fracture surgery on it. Quite a long recovery, btw, before he can ball again.
We will just have to wait till the announcement to see what's up.

I never had an MRI but im pretty sure you dont need an IV bag for this and he had IV bag preparation on his pic, this was surgery.

Contrast dye is sometimes given via an IV. It would obviously be removed before the MRI.
He was in a full gown and cap though. He was clearly going into surgery.

Sefko said your first point but yeah, surgery of some form or fashion.
I just think he saw the shower cap and thought it'd be fun to wear it...but that's just me though

Caron Butler underwent surgery today to repair a ruptured right patellar tendon. The surgery was performed by team
physician Dr. T.O. Souryal at Texas Sports Medicine. He is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
In 29 games this season, Butler averaged 15.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists and 29.9 minutes.

Dammit. Well, let the trade speculation continue. Whatever the front office says, I'm sure they'll be looking to make some kind of move.

That sucks, but we all knew it was going to be a bleak prognosis either way. Definitely have to explore some trade options at some point.

Just curious if they trade him are they allowed to re-sign him once his contract ends with said team?

Damn. Time to see what you can get for that expiring contract. Unless Roddy comes back and slips into the #2 role quickly (when he actually comes back I have no idea) this team has to make a move with haste. I would love to see Crash here, but I can't see why Charlotte would do that deal being that they play in the East and there will probably be a few teams at or below .500 making the playoffs out of that conference. And they would be getting nothing for him but financial flexibility, and financial flexibility doesn't exactly light up a box score. At that point, you completely lose your fan base (not that they have that many) and you are openly tanking for a lottery pick. I hope they do it, I just don't see how they could justify it.

I sure hope this is some kind of blessing in disguise..b/c before the season started I wanted Butler gone
Looks like the finishing lineup will also be the starting lineup
C'mon Basketball Gods gives us a break!
