i'm pretty sure it's hudsucker proxy -- the "thingamajig" is Tim Robbins toy that looks suspiciously like a hoolahoop (and it's brings every body together, even tho it keeps them apart spatially), and the extended office instructions are from Robbin's first day in the mail room.
and yeah, Jeremiah Johnson.
--watch your top knot...
--and you your'n.
the conversation between Johnson and Del Que at the end of the movie.
-----
yeah, checked imdb and it's hudsucker proxy...hat's off to alexamenos. give him 24 hours and a couple of softball hints and he can spot a line from a movie he's seen like 7 or 8 times.

well, crap, if it isn't a quote from escape from alcatraz, then i just thought of a really good quote from escape from alcatraz, but now wouldn't be such a good time to throw it into the mix.

because we have an open ended quote plus it is Alex's turn...add you in and we will get three open quotes... which means 3 more possibilities of answering the question.. that turns expoenential pretty fast. so, yes, you are correct, not chaos.. scientifically speaking. I used it in the context of "alot of shit to deal with at once."

Underdog this one is for you only. If you get this straight up, you are THE master.
"Your torments call us like dogs in the night. And we do feed, and feed well. To stuff ourselves on other people's torments. And butter our plain bread with delicious pain... Funerals, marriages, lost loves, lonely beds " that is our diet. We suck that misery and find it sweet. We can smell the young ulcerating to be men a thousand miles off. And hear a middle-aged fool like yourself groaning with midnight despairs from halfway round the world."
