I'd love to have him back, if he goes I think we will miss him more than JJ and Butler.

I would LOVE to have D-Steve back. Without Tyson's lateral quickness in the frontcourt, we're going to need all the defensive help we can get in the backcourt.

I'd love Stevenson's grittiness here again, but only after we get another center.

,,The Dallas Mavericks traded Spanish swingmen Rudy Fernandez and Corey Brewer to the Denver Nuggets for a 2016 second round pick".

Mavs sign Jerome Randle
DALLAS _ The Dallas Mavericks added to their training camp roster this mornng by signing guard Jerome Randle.
Randle was undrafted in the 2010 NBA Draft, but competed that year in the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards summer leagues. He most recently played overseas in Turkey.
A 5-10, 172-pounder, Randle was chosen as the Pac-10 Player of the Year for Cal-Berkeley as a senior when he averaged 18.6 points and 4.3 assists per game.
The Mavs now have 14 players in training camp.

Francisco Elson
Kyrylo Fesenko
Nenad Krstic
DJ Mbenga
Nene
Joel Przybilla
Etan Thomas
Nene is clearly out of Dallas's range. Dalembert and Krstic are the clear class of the remainder of this group, but I can't see either of them signing for one year at the veteran's minimum. Armstrong and Fesenko might have some potential, but the Mavs need someone who can play this year.
So I think the choice is between Collins, Przybilla or Etan Thomas to give them some minutes this year. Who is the best option?
|
Didn't we just get a trade exception for Rudy and Brewer? Hopefully Nelson is hunting for a cap casualty somewhere. I think Krstic is staying in overseas.

Serious business.
I was only kidding, but Dampier is an option I'll take him over Mbenga and some of the others that were mentioned. If Pryzbilla is healthy he could be a great addition for Dallas, I think Dalembert is probably already finished he wants close to the MLE I assume.

I'd be more open to Ryan Hollins. He's more Chandler-ish in terms of length and running for lobs.

He's been a madman every time he plays the Mavs. He was really pissed when the Mavs traded him and has something to prove every time he plays the Mavs.
I wish we still had Bass or Humphries. We need more athletes.

Then we could throw out a defensive lineup consisting of Kidd, West, D-Steve, Marion, Haywood. Play them 48 minutes and the game would end 30-30

Correct
On August 3, 2009, he (Ryan Hollins) was signed by the Minnesota Timberwolves to a three-year, $7 million offer sheet.[8] The Mavericks did not match the offer.[9]

Must be a lot of Mavs fans on Twitter awaiting that news. I was trying to check Twitter myself to see if he resigned, but I keep getting a message Twittter is at capacity.

Basically means he wants too much money or a multi-year. Don't think they really aren't interested.

Considering Donnie said earlier today they were interested, I think that's a safe assumption.

I was just thinking about that. The Hornets are constantly looking for savings, though, they should be alright now; But with a youth movement, its very possible that Kaman is bought out, and that swing back to play with dirk would be very possible.
Edit:
Kaman makes : $12,200,000
Okafor makes : $12,642,500
too much for a tandem C?

I think Kaman would be willing to get his contract bought out for far less than it's actually worth. He knows this might be his one chance to play with Dirk like he has always wanted. There is no reason that he should waste his time being a back up center to Okafor and rot away on the Hornets bench. The Hornets don't really gain anything by keeping him. They need young players, draft picks, and capspace/flexibility to become attractive. I doubt they will get much for trying to trade him, I think he's really just going to get bought out.

I'd be pretty surprised to see Kaman bought out. There is a minimum salary threshold that the Hornets have to meet, and Kaman's bird rights and status as an expiring both have value for the franchise.

I think it's more likely that the Hornets try to move Kaman for a solid package of players to fill their roster. Right now they only have 8 players and need to spend an additional 2M to reach the minimum team salary. Might also trade for additional picks. Rockets, Spurs and maybe even Nets could use a center.
Also I think teams under the cap could claim him off waivers within 48 hours?

I think you are right about him being claimed, but isnt it only if he is amnestied? I believe if he negotiates the buy out price, he will be a FA. Now, why would he want to lose that money? I dont know. But if he wants to choose a winner...

Whats the board's opinion of Pryzbilla or Theo Ratliff. Theo is a defensive presence we seem to be lacking at the moment.
Whats either's situation as far as contracts? Can we get em on the cheap?
