Holy jesus, Joakim Noah has 18 rebounds after 3 quarters (not to mention 11 points).

Thomas got whacked across both arms and the ref had a clear view and didn't call it. Duncan has been getting hacked for a few games now with no calls. I think it was a combination of not getting calls for his big men and a way to fire up the team who was giving a lackluster performance at the time. Classic Pop.
Spurs roll again. 11 straight wins. Starters got a lot of rest tonight. I think Ginobli played the most with 27 minutes.

I like what T-Mac told Barkely at the end of the game. Barkley said what he always says. The Rockets will lose, and T-Mac isn't a good leader.
In the post-game T-Mac said "I don't really listen to Barkley about anything to do with basketball. I only listen to him when it comes to counting calories in a cupcake." LOL

language aside I have to agree. If I wanted to have an epileptic seizure I would watch Japanese cartoons instead of Rockets logos.

You can right click and select "block image". It is pretty big, so I will shrink it.
I'm hoping Denver wins this game against SA. The game is tied up right now.

Utah at Phoenix
Phoenix shots +.500%
Amare scores 37 on 12 of 15 shooting
Nash has 17 pts and 15 assists
Shaq has 20 pts on 8 of 12 shooting
...and they still cannot beat the Jazz on their home floor
the West is tough, man

Yup....ad-block the image. I've been using for these humongous sigs folks are putting in, they really screw up the board.

I always enjoy watching the Spurs and hoping they lose. In fact, I'm usually happier after a Spurs loss than a Mavs win.
Unfortunately our poor play is taking that away from me. The last thing we need is for Denver to pick up a big win, get their confidence back and start pushing for that last playoff slot.

Wow, the Suns just collapsed in the 4th. They had another slow start in the 4th and the Jazz kept on coming back.

Whats up with the Spurs? Just started watching at the end of the 3rd and none of their starters are in. Is Pop just resting them?

JR takes some of the most ill-advised shots i've seen this season. Every time I see him playing he's throwing up a horrible shot like he's AI or Carmelo.

Yea I don't see any good out of this game. Usually i'd be excited about a Spurs loss but I think the Nuggets winning hurts us more at this point. Najera has been MVP of the 2 quarters i've seen. Just off the top was Najera a part of the Dampier deal? Just trying to remember what we got for him.

The Spurs are out there with the '95 class. Kurt Thomas, Damon Stoudamire and Michael Finley. Only guy missing is Brent Barry.

I think it was Najera and Leattner and Picks or something for Damp and Esch?
To be fair though that´s probably Najeras best game all year.
With the way Denver and GS are playing we really need to get it together soon.

Yea it seems like everytime I see Najera play its a nationally televised game and he's playing well lol. Maybe those are the only ones he shows up for. Seems to have developed an outside 3 point shot as well.

If we can't stay in front of denver then to hell with it. We deserve to be a lottery team and there isn't much point in getting to the playoffs.
Spurts lose, spurts lose, spurts lose!!!!
So they are now like 0-10 at contenders houses....they suck.

I didn't realize it until Hubie Brown brought it up but the Spurs foul less than any team in the league? How is it possible to play physical defense and foul so infrequently? Maybe the constant whining actually pays off.

I actually think it does. Fouls in the nba are so subjective that it must have some effect. I notice that Phil Jackzen is a constant whiner. Against the mavs last time, he was whining during the break.

The Spurs took one on the chin tonight. Pop fooled with the lineup when there was no need since the starters had plenty of rest last night. He kept Bowen and Thomas both on the bench for stretches when Udoka and Horry were not doing anything out there. Finley struggled and Pop made the mistake of starting him over Ginobli in the 2nd half. I know Ginobli had 3 fouls but I think you have to take your chances that he doesn't pick up a quick 4th. Stoudamire was decent but Pop went with Vaughn and he was terrible. I thought Bonner deserved some minutes as he would have matched Najera's energy. He absolutely killed the Spurs tonight.
No worries there as Pop always gets them ready for the next game and they learn from their mistakes better than most teams.
Phoenix is a mess but I have a gut feeling they'll trample the Spurs on Sunday. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking.

5 minutes to go in the 4th and the Spurs down by only 11. Pop sits all starters. What was that all about? A punishment for bad collective behavior on the court?

It started before that. He gave minutes to Horry and Udoka when Bowen and Thomas were playing better. He started Finley in the 2nd half and Melo scored 7 straight points. Bowen shut Melo down in the 1st half but Pop never did put Bowen back on him electing to go wtih Udoka or Ginobli. Stoudamire also played decent but he went with Vaughn instead. Bonner played really well last night but was regulated to garbage minutes.
I thought he threw the towel in early though. Parker was crap, they did a nice job on Ginobli in the 2nd half, and Duncan was worn out. I think it was a combination of tinkering and letting his troops think about this performance.
Pop's been messing with the rotation and minutes and it's been ok because of the teams they've played. It bit them in the ass on a b2b night against a team fighting for a playoff spot. Also it hurt that the Spurs defense wasn't what we know it to be even on off offensive nights.
This is the type of loss Pop loves. He can light into the team and you can bet they'll bounce back.

I wondered about that too. Thinking about it a possible explanation is the other stat they presented. Possesions per Game. The Spurs slow the game down and are 2nd to last in possesions per game. So in a given Spurs game there are less situations to call a foul than say in a GS - Phoenix matchup. That explains the low foul total somewhat. The team with the least possesions per game Detroit is just 16th in total fouls.
What´s really telling is the stat where you see the foul differential. Fouls called against you vs. fouls called against the opposition. San Antonio is 5th in that list with with -1.33 (meaning they get called for 1.33 fouls less). Denver tops that list (thanks to Melo and AI) at -3.05. LA is 4th at -2.31. Dallas is 16th at +0.19, Minnesota last at +5.88.

Moreso than whining, I thin it's just the reputation. The Spurs are not only four time champions, but they're considered hard-nosed, tough defenders.
So the refs expect for there to be contact and let it go. It's basically the Bowen effect for the entire team.

No I actually think that whining has an effect. If not pops/phil/riley wouldn't do it so much.

Cuban isn't as much of a factor during games as a player or coach who can get immediate face time with the refs.
