Well, maybe... But Tyson didn't want to wait around for "maybe".
And I don't disagree that he's a good fit in Phoenix. It's not like he went to a bottom-feeder. He took the smart bet when it presented itself; a decent team in need of a center, no waiting around to find out whose 2nd option he's going to be, a 4-year contract worth $52m that he can ride into retirement... But he didn't go to a contender.

All I am wondering is that Bismack Biyombo was available and Mavs didn't even consider him. Sure his height isn't comparable to JaVale but I'd probably still take Biyombo ahead of McGee.
Just teach him decent pick and roll and make him jump like Wright.

Adrian Wojnarowski: Sources: As part of deal for Ty Lawson, Houston will send Kostas Papanikolaou, Pablo Prigioni, Joey Dorsey, Nick Johnson and a protected first to Denver.

I know...but Why would Cubes leak this in February? Not this particular article (coincidence?)...but it made major media outlets, as I recall.
Jermaine was not 100% committed to a return last year, leading me to believe it was all fluff. His PRP injections would have been in the summer.
I like CJ Miles. Carlisle likes CJ, Matthews and DWill like CJ. No reason he shouldn't be a Mav.

Except that he's under contract with the Pacers until 2018...

The Jazz have a lot of Cap Space to spend to meet the Minimum required.
They could easily swallow Felton and sit him the year if they still wanna rebuild.

Power continues to accumulate in the few teams at the top. Might be a very rough season for Mavs fans.

1-6 (GSW, SA, OKC, Clips, Houston, Mem) will be a nightmare and all of the others will consider just making the POs a successful season.
Not really sure why we are even attempting to compete but kinda glad we are for some weird reason.

I can see all the Top 6 Teams in the West with a 60 win Season to be fair.
After that its likely the Mavs, Pelicans and Suns competing for Spot 7-8 with 48-52 wins.
After that its lottery bound.

I think Utah and Sac have a shot too with Minny having a long shot.
Sac could easily implode by mid-season but the same could be said about the Mavs.

Jarrid Famous signs partially guarenteed deal, probably unlikely to make team but I wouldn't mind if he did. Averaged 14.9 rebounds in 32.3 minutes in d league last year

Is that all he brings or is he a rim protector as well?

Guess that means no TC Invite for Tyler. Probably the Defense that cost him.
Famous is a solid hardworking Rebounder and inside guy, not sure he has NBA Potential though.

The lack of apparent activity from the MBT is a bit interesting. They clearly need bigs, there are a few options available, yet not a peep about any of the 5s with NBA experience (McGee, Thomas, Hansbrough, Dalembert, etc) over the past few days. I agree that the leftovers aren't awe inspiring, but it would seem that they need at least one more experienced big on the roster. Perhaps they are still debating McGee's health status or working on a trade of some sort. But right now they have Pachulia, Famous, and Dirk at the 5. Kind of scary.

Unless some type of dump trade happens(wait we dont have much capspace left), its going to be a long season...again. With no center, mavs have tiny chance. We arent a fast transition team...we upgraded on defense and 3s however.
There is such a small chance at the 8 seed, my heart breaks for Dirk.
Not in order but
GS
Spurs
Thunder
Houston
Clippers
Memphis
Those group of teams are locked in the 1-6 seeds. Most likely all 50 win teams.
Jazz
Suns
Pelicans
Mavs
Fighting for 7-8. Think pelicans get in.

I wonder if the lack of activity means there's something bigger in the works?

Yep, that's what I'm wondering. I think that Fisher & Lord have suggested that the Mavs could trade Felton for a salary around the $8M range (given their available cap space). Not sure who that could be. Taj Gibson? Jason Thompson? Why anyone would want to do those trades is beyond me, unless it is strictly a salary dump. Even then, one would think there are better options out there than taking back $4M. Perplexing...

When Cuban was on the radio with Colishaw and company, he said they needed a Chandler-type shot blocker to compliment Pachulia. I think that will be it as far as any medium-major move is concerned. However, with Houston getting Lawson, perhaps they're thinking has changed. I personally think they need a quality back-up pf AND shot blocking center.

John Jenkins made 44% of his spot ups and a tremendous 52% of his off screen field goal attempts last season. Very efficient in a small role

Also a decent defender. I like this signing much better than a much older JET.
I wonder is this is insurance if Matthews is not quite ready to start the season.

Good shooter, passable defender, still lots of room for growth... He was the 23rd pick in the 2012 draft, which follows the pattern of Dallas grabbing promising young prospects who haven't panned out (for whatever reason) a few years of being drafted.

Pachulia/???/???
Dirk/Villanueva/Powell
Parsons/Jefferson/Evans
Matthews/Anderson/Jenkins
Williams/Harris/JJB/Felton
14 of 15 roster spots filled. Center spot still looking anemic. Good size and defense from 1-3. Just severely lacking at the 4/5
Jarrid Famous with a partially guaranteed one-year. Probably just camp fodder, but averaged 12pts. 16reb, 1block in D-league). Would have put him on the roster, but I doubt he'll be here for game 1.

You mean Jarrid Famous? He's a mostly unguaranteed one-year deal-- the kind camp fodder get.
Charlie V got one and then made the team, but 90% don't make it.
