Dirk just wasn?t in the cool kids club. But ultimately good players came and played with Dirk. Those AAU friends from Wade to Lebron?..he was never gonna play with them unless he wanted to. I think they?d like to play with a prime Dirk just not come to Dallas to do it.

Holmes, Lively and Mcgee will all be on short leash if they get selected to start.
None of them will last more than 5 games before powelltakez over the starting gig. They didn't give dude 3 years for 12 million to ride the bench.
That's why I was hoping for an Ayton or Turner trade because there would be a major out cry if either one of them were benched for Powell
Those other guys won't force much media or fan backlash when the mavs decide to start Powell for the 4th year in a row

Mos def. 3 year contract doesn't seem like the the kind of deal that you ride the pine and play 3rd fiddle while you mentor. Especially in DP situation.

From Woj: Plumlee landed with Clippers at deadline and decides to stay with LA despite bigger financial offers elsewhere.
Sounds like he just wanted to be there.

All for PJW. Dallas native. I do think at least two of Holmes, McGee, THJ, Bull, and Maxi need to go if he?s brought in.

When you have something you don't need listed for sale and someone offers more than what it's worth to you, it doesn't mean keeping it is a good deal or good idea. Idk, it's early and my analogy game isn't primed.

DP is an idiot if he turned down double the salary for 1 year.
You only get 10-12 years of earning as an NBA player. Got to maximize it.

Not sure I agree with the ppl acting like the world is ending because Powell got a little more than minimum. He?s always been one the hardest workers in the league and is a culture setter. You need guys like that.

Man, why get your hopes up? Perfect fit and would take the pressure off of center.
So yeah, we either need a serious upgrade like him at the 4 or a serious upgrade at the 5. Either works and I don't think we need both right now.
Still don't see how that happens.

I guess let's make the PJ thing make sense in terms of a realistic chance. I know Charlotte also rumored to want Grant Williams, so I'm guessing some sort of three way with Char, Boston, Dallas. Can't see Boston wanting THJ's contract though so it will likely have to be someone else.

Well he spent some time in Frisco high school. No idea if he has family still here or not.

I don't get the hype over PJ
He's not much a defender which is really what they lack right now.
I think Williams has offers more two way ability but neither guy imo is a huge roster upgrade.
One guy I would be intrigued with is Thybuile because dude a legit all nba defender and his 3 point shot looked much better in Portland after that trade.
I think I would prefer a legit starting center and then Thybuile on the wing defensively

Bol Bol waived which is somewhat surprising. I'd definitely take a flier on him.

Hardy is gonna destroy the summer league then Toronto will beg us to take Pascal.
And I'm not sure I include Hardy in those discussions.

Cool yeay. We could hire Pop, Phil Jackson and Red Aurbach as assistants and it Might as well be announced as hiring a flaming bag of dogshit as long as J Kidd is making decisions and calling plays.

Crazy that he gets waived with the dawning of the Wemby era. Dude is literally the beta version of Wemby.
I want him, but without a trade, I'm not sure what I'd do
1) Luka (1/2/3)
2) Kyrie (1/2)
3) THJ (2/3)
4) Holmes (4/5)
5) Bullock (2/3)
6) Kleber (4/5)
7) McGee (5)
8) Curry (1/2)
9) Green (1/2/3)
10) Lively (5)
11) OMax (3/4)
12) Hardy (2)
13) Powell (5)
14) Exum (2/3)
15) ??
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
16) Miles (1/2)
17) Lawson (2/3)
18) Wright (1)
FA: Wood (4/5), Frank (1/2/3), Pinson (2/3), Morris (4)
I would love to dump McGee and sign Bol.

NBA Insider
@nbainsidergoat
Dallas have informed LAC that they are willing to step up their interest in Ivica Zubac. Can confirm, talks will open today between the Mavericks and Clippers.

Alex Jensen was a driving force in Rudy Gobert?s development into an All-NBA big man and three-time DPOY. Rookie lottery pick Dereck Lively II should benefit tremendously from Jensen joining the Mavs? staff.

First off, that source isn't reliable.
Secondly, I doubt anything happens until the Harden thing is sorted out...which Woj reports could be September.
I don't hate on these fake insiders as they are having fun giving people what they want, but the chance of getting Zubac or PJ Washington is long at best.

""Yeah, so the first month, Jaden [Hardy] was just working on his overall game. You don't want to hold someone back who is so young," Summer Mavs coach Jared Dudley said. "His potential is so high. ... And then the last month, I took over getting him ready for summer league where he could see traps, he could see [the] low man over there, making the right pass."
"Hardy's going to get his 18 to 20 shots. 15 to 16 have to be good looks. Everyone knows he's gonna be the No. 1 player in our offense, but you have to be able to make the short roll pass to the big. You have to make the skip pass to AJ [Lawson] in the corner. And for [Hardy], he can get by the first guy. It's seeing that low man, the guy in the corner, and reading that. ... His confidence and his array of shot-making abilities are elite."

They need to clear a center currently on the roster first. He'll never get minutes if just added to the bunch.

don't know about that. Other than Maxi the center rotation is pretty trashy. Maybe Lively will surprise but gotta expect he goes thru some adjustment period.
I'm starting to think Holmes might get playing time to prove he can still play but seems he is trade bait. Already know McGee probably will be gone so who cares if it now or later. I think Mavs will either have to stretch waive McGee or add 27 FRP and him to THj or Bullock to get a deal done. would charlotte take that deal for PJ to get future FRP.
Well, If they want Bol, I'd claim now and worry about rest later.

I've read a couple of places say that Blazers' intend to match any offer.
Would be a great fit here - a two-time All-Defensive player.
he shot 38.8% from three in 22 games with Portland on nearly 4 attempts per game.

Not sure how I feel about Thybulle, he?s been riding that one season for awhile now.
As long as PJ is still in play on a sign n trade. I didn?t think we were getting Grant anyway.
Curious what this does with the Zubac news

I doubt (optimistically) they?d tie up money if Dallas thought they?d match. I hope they aren?t that dumb still

i thought the turn around time on a match was down to 24 hours.
let's say they offer and blazers match it just sets us back a little bit of time.
i mean is there any other downside to giving it a shot?

Totally against the Thybuille offer because Portland is going to match. And being made to look like fools again over Thybuille is typical Mavs FA.
And it just again shines the light on WHY DIDN'T YOU GO AFTER OTHER NON-RESTRICTED FAS with the MLE who are better than him? Maddening.
