I guess I'm not exactly sure what you're suggesting. We're going to be trying to unload Hardaway's contract for the next two years. Warren is nearly twice the player at half the cost.
|
43 games sample size. Over his career he is at 34%. So you have to look at this 42% pretty carefully.
Thats why i think he is like a forward version of THJ. Maybe slightly better shooting but also not providing much more outside scoring like the Otto Porter type

We're not getting Otto Porter, and if we were, Porter's contract is almost 30 million a year and we couldn't afford another player. Warren is one of the best wings available at a cost this team can afford... and still get another good player. He's had 30 point games and 40-point games.
Warren's contract is over 8 million a year dollars cheaper than Hardaway.

TJ at his current salary isn't a bad fall back plan if you can't get what you want in free agency. We are pretty weak on the wing. He's not a 3 and d though which is what we really need. If they are giving him away and we can't get a top tier guy then getting Warren with Bev and with another guy isn't an awful off season. TJ Warren is a lot like Barnes honestly. He's never going to playmake because he has tunnel vision and he did shoot well last year from 3. He rebounds like Barnes and he played a lot of small ball 4 like Barnes(Meaning he can't rebound like at all). I'd just say he's a lesser Barnes in basically every way but on a reasonable contract.

I'd be surprised to see OKC trading Adams to a division rival tbh

Question is what assets will it cost to get Warren. Jackson? Brunson? The 37?

I don’t see the Mavs giving up Brunson any time soon.

Wouldn't trade Brunson, don't want to trade Jackson (although I would), but I'd swap #37 for TJ in a heartbeat... I wonder what Phoenix is looking for?

Yeah If they want Brunson for Warren it's a hard pass from me and no way the FO trades Brunson for Warren. Brunson is super cheap for 3 more years and he is already better than any pg on the Suns roster.

My source, one I trust, says “no,” on Mavs-Warren reports. Conflicting info, obviously.

Brunson is basically untradeable/untouchable with his dirt cheap contract until 2022. They just throw him into a trade for a star

I agree with this. I would be super hesitant to include him in any deal not bringing back a "star" or pseudo star. S&T to Charlotte for the privilege of being able to overpay Beverly for instance doesn't qualify for me. Brunson is only going to get better in years 2&3 and is young affordable and can shoot and is another ball handler. Ala van Vleet. Even if we sign Kemba he has value.

@espn_macmahon: Source confirms that Mavs are among teams in the hunt to trade for Suns SF T.J. Warren. So are Pacers. Warren, who averaged 18 ppg with .549 eFG last season, would provide Mavs some much-needed scoring punch on the wing. He's signed for $35M over next three seasons.

Knicks will listen to trade offers for Frank Ntilikina
https://www.sny.tv/knicks/news/sourc...kina/308251852

Ntilikina has been a part of trade rumors for several months, and according to sources, at least one team that has talked to the Knicks said the team asked for a second-round pick in exchange.

Not sure Frank is a worth a second round pick. Certainly not a high one.

I like Frank (I think he potentially has all-NBA type defensive potential) more than most but not sure its worth giving up a cheap, cost controlled high second-round pick for his contract either. Good players, or at least someone you like, always falls into the 30's.

The pick is worth the gamble. The problem is the 4.8m, killing our max cap if we dont Stretch/dump Lee

Well it is nothing short of shocking that the Pacers got the 32nd pick in the draft from the Suns as well. Warren has to be hot trash to make that deal...even if the Suns desperately want cap space.
Can't miss out on deals like this. On to the next rumor...

There sure are a lot of players just being given away this year. Correct that - there sure are a lot of players that their former team is PAYING to give away this year.

TJ Warren to Pacers... does that mean that they are gonna let Bogdanovic go? I still think * Bogdanovic + Dedmon would do a nice offseason.

Yep, seems with KD and Klay out next year, team's are looking to hedge their bets on getting to June. TJ Warren for cap space, wow. Suns gain about 9 million in cap space, picking up Saric in a separate trade....DAngelo going to PHX?
Indy supposedly has interest in Rubio.......so line up the scorers alongside him.

I am just curious what posters like you want or are waiting for when we already have the CORE of our team in Luka and KP. As someone mentioned, we need to start building the team around those 2 and as far as bigs go, there arent many available that are better ones that these 2 or bring what these 2 bring.
|
Dedmon for example and a solid wing / guard

Stock up on offensive threats then trade 1 scorer for 2
veteran two-way players after a playoff trip. Duh

If those 2 2nd's are Cavs 2nds is there a prayer in hell we can dump Lee's expiring with them?
Edit- Well even if they are Pistons they should be "better" 2nd's than trash.

You do realize the warriors defense had been as special as their offense until this year right? Yes we need defense particularly given that Luka and kp should provide quite a bit of offense.

Once again, I’m not in the business of trying to emulate teams with rare talent. You can defend all you want but if you lack scorers and shooters you are doomed. It’s like those teams trying to emulate the Patriots....sure I’d love to emulate them but good luck finding another Brady and Bellicheat.

Defense is over rated, especially if you can score at will.

I have no desire to emulate the warriors but we have Luka and kp. There is a very real chance luka is THE best player in the world for the majority of his prime. We have special talent too. That should ensure offense, as long as we surround them with competent shooters.

I have to see more from KP and Luka to determine that. KP has to show his body can withhold punishment.

Defense keeps you in the game when your shooting goes cold... You have to play both phases of the game to compete. That was the difference between this year’s Rockets and last year’s — they had all the same scorers, but took a clear step backwards when Ariza took his defensive skill set elsewhere.
