14 of 15 roster spots filled. Center spot still looking anemic. Good size and defense from 1-3. Just severely lacking at the 4/5
Jarrid Famous with a partially guaranteed one-year. Probably just camp fodder, but averaged 12pts. 16reb, 1block in D-league)

Another guard added to the mix can only mean that Felton is on his way out...

Yeah, Mavs must be waiting on something for him. No way Felton gets burn with Williams, Harris, and Barea at pg, and Wes, Anderson, and Jenkins at sg.

I think we can get a good trade with Felton and Powell for a vet big. Pacers could have interest trading Mahinmi.

Shooting guard John Jenkins agreed to a partially guaranteed three-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks, sources said.
The 23rd overall pick from the 2012 NBA draft will make the veteran's minimum, according to sources, with his salary fully guaranteed for the 2015-16 season and partially guaranteed the next two seasons.

@coopmavs: Not surprised Mavs signed John Jenkins. The guy who drafted him in ATL, David Pendergraft, is Mavs Director of Pro Scouting.

Jenkins at the vet minimum is a very good signing. He should be a great spot up shooter and he has some size. You can never have enough shooters.... unless of course you have no centers......

Shams Charania: Jarrid Famous agreement with the Dallas Mavericks will now be partially guaranteed for three-years — not one — sources tell RealGM. – via Twitter ShamsCharania

That signing also means that we wont go after another Center after the Famous Signing.
Just no Roster Spots open or a we really getting rid of the Felton Contract?
Looks more like this will be the Team
Deron/Barea/Felton
Matthews/Harris/Jenkins/Anderson
Parsons/Anderson/Jefferson
Dirk/Powell/Villanueva
Zaza/Famous/B.James
Thats your 15 Man Roster....Center Spot and Backup PF makes me cringe.

Jeremy Evans is also signed. I think Felton is gone, one way or the other. Either traded or stretched.

Or is Trade Material.
Im not sure if Evans is playing much to be fair. Jefferson is still the better option on SF i guess and Powell and Villanueva will cover up Dirk on the 4.
Where should Evans play in that scenario?
If they could somehow trade Felton or Felton+X for atleast a decent C that would be nice.
There is no way this team makes the Playoffs with Pachulia, a D-League Player and Bernard James at Center.

I don't believe we're done at the center position. My money is on Javale, but a trade is not out of the question.

Bernard James is not under contract with the Mavs.

Yeah, at this point I'd say that's a solid "duh"... I'm not sure why some people are acting like our roster is even close to finalized. Obviously we're not rolling with just one center who only averaged 23 MPG last season.

Not saying I am in love with Famous. But they say his defense is better than Tyler's, so that may be a factor in favoring Famous over Tyler. Regardless, Famous will be a 3rd center option at best here. A better center should be on the way.

Remember when Eric Griffin got a three year deal?
Yeah, it's to control his D-League affiliate and keep him in the U.S.

What we do with Faried? He makes too much to split time with Dirk, and you don't want him playing center. Dirk and Faried on the court together would be an absolute disaster.

Faried is only 25 and on a very friendly deal signed with the old cap in mind. Get him here and keep Dirk's minutes in the low 20s.

@The_Only_Grubes: I want to say that I did not write a reaction or report anything regarding Kenneth Faried, contrary to @VNdsgn tweet.
This guy was supposedly the source of the rumor, from anything I can find.

Meh... More playtime for Justin Anderson and Jeremy Evans, which isn't a bad thing in my opinion.

@JasonLloydABJ: Jefferson was returning to Dallas, but source said Mavs gave guys chance to shop again after D. Jordan deal collapsed. Class move by Mavs

Thank god. I definitely didn't want Jefferson back. Would have just taken minutes away from Anderson who looks primed and ready to contribute.

I have the feeling that our bench will be quite weak this season. A lot of unproven or unexperienced players and two inconsistent veterans (Harris, Villanueva), that's it basically. Plus our center rotation is one of, if not the worst of the whole NBA so far, but I expect something to happen still. Too bad we lost Chandler before the Jordan-Desaster. We could have a very solid starting 5 with him.
I'm putting some hope on a possible Felton-trade. Let's just get something decent, at least a valuable center like Mahinmi. Other than that we just have to hope that our starting players stay healthy, otherwise I see small chances of making the playoffs.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I don't mind Tyson playing for someone else. I mean, we were a first round exit with team with him as our center and are likely a first round exit team (if they make it) next season. His rebounding will be missed, but he just isn't the difference maker he was during the 2011 season.

Tim Cato: DeAndre Jordan’s reversal has now cost the Mavericks two players (Gerald Green, RJ) and given Wes Matthews and JJB an extra $24 million.
– via Twitter tim_cato
Free Agency, JJ Barea, DeAndre Jordan, Gerald Green, Richard Jefferson, Wesley Matthews, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat
Did we have a deal with Green in place? I know Mavs were talking to him, but didn't think it was much after that.

This stings a bit. Bench depth just took a hit. RJ knew his role, played within the system and spread the floor. Not to mention for continuity's sake. Chances are Justin Anderson simply wont be ready to contribute consistently until mid season- if we're lucky.
