Tebow didn't have a choice. He said he wanted to go back to FL, but the Broncos traded him anyway. It's a huge PR move by the Jets to fill seats. I hate the Jets.

Giants are bigger in NY, right? Pretty much like Knicks/Nets?

Deron Williams has expressed frustration after the Nets squandered leads in each of the past two games.
“We’ve been making the same mistakes all year,” Williams said. “We’ve talked about it every day, it seems like it just doesn’t register. At some point, you hope it would, you know?
"(But) I’m not here to call anybody out. We’re all men. I make mistakes. I made mistakes (Monday). There’s nobody to call out."

They should be, but year-after-year the NY press is always talking about how the Giants should fire their coach, then they go on to win championships - although the writers promptly forget that fact the next season...
The Jets are ridiculously over-hyped for some reason, as if Joe Nameth is still playing... The Nets would probably experience the same level of hype after moving to Brooklyn if the Knicks weren't so busy hoarding all of NYC's empty hype...

For the fans yes. We love the Giants here. Sports writers in NY LOVE to make up bull shit. They always create some kind of drama when my boys in blue don't play well. All the fans here know Coughlin is the real deal, but the writers here man.. they are unreal. Especially Isola and Lupica. Lupia loves to take subtle shots at the sports team here and never gets called on his bullshit. Most NYC athletes already know what the press is like here so most avoid the drama except for maybe Tiki Barber (can't stand this fool) and Alex "f-ing fail" Rodriguez.

Tiki Barber is one of the biggest tools I've seen in sports. And I thought that well before he left his wife for an intern, etc.

Deron was ejected from last night's game. Some are saying he is getting increasingly frustrated with NJ.

Getting Deron would be the 2nd insanely lucky twist in two years.
First Chandler basically traded to Toronto for several hours until Jordan backed out to take our trash offer of Dampier+Carroll and then Dwight basically traded to the Nets at the beginning of the season and then the Magic backing out and Dwight backing out at the deadline..
phew...

And Carroll seems to still be collecting a check from MJ, though if I remember his contract was one in which the salary de-escalated year to year.

I don't think Lopez' health this season is going to have any bearing on Deron's decision over the summer. NJ probably has one last chance to seal the deal, and thats draft day. If they can pull off a trade for a second franchise-caliber player, they'll have a chance at convincing him to stay. If they can't, they're f'd, regardless of what happens with Lopez between now and then.

Watch NJ break the bank on a 2nd star and Deron walks anyway...

I think it could have had at least some morale effect and perhaps a few wins, but their season is pretty lost anyway. Draft day will certainly be interesting but good luck getting a star of Dirk's caliber.

Dont see a draft day trade here. think they can't trade their FA or Deron and Wallace unless they opt-in. maybe they could do some snt, but i don't think this will "net" any star caliber player

depends on the players you want to give a max-deal. A team can give max. 105% of of his last salary to a player. For D-will it would be something around $17,177,795 I suppose

Root for Nets to win some and Rockets not to make the playoffs, the Nets pick sent to Portland was top 3 protected and Rockets pick is lottery protected.
Right now here are standings in reverse order for New Jersey of course you never know how lottery goes
1. Charlotte 7-39
2. Washington 11-36 3 1/2 GB
3. New Orleans 12-36 4 GB
4. New Jersey 16-34 7 GB
5. Toronto 16-33 7 1/2 GB
6. Detroit 16-32 8 GB
7. Sacramento 17-30 9 1/2 GB

While Utah Jazz soar, Deron Williams is dragged down in New Jersey
By the end, there were boos. Heckling mixed in with callouts. A meaningless last six minutes punctuated with a fan yelling that Dirk Nowitzki is waiting in Dallas.
This is Deron Williams’ NBA life 13 months after being traded by the Jazz....

According to multiple sources, the Nets – who will have roughly $8 million to work with this summer after renouncing the rights to Kris Humphries — are targeting power forwards Kevin Garnett (restricted) and Ersan Ilyasova (unrestricted) in free agency.
Ryan Anderson (restricted) is the other top power forward available – and would certainly be a welcomed upgrade — but the Nets want a stronger rebounder to play alongside Brook Lopez.

KG's a nice little player. I suppose he is statistically closer to a Kris Humphries than he is to a player like Dirk.

Where do we put the chances of Garnett signing with NJ/Brooklyn? 5%? 1%?

In my opinion, if Garnett is the best thing that New Jersey picked up to put around Williams.. well, that exactly wouldn't do all that much for me if I were Williams.

Gee...coincidence that rumors would surface about who NJ is targeting during their awful losing streak? Knowing that Williams is likely gone? Knowing the playoffs aren't going to happen? Smells like severe desperation.

Dirk > Garnett.
Dallas Home > Brooklyn.
Cuban > Prokhorov.
Carlisle > Johnson.
Not a hard decision at all.

I'd say 5% or so. But I don't think that would convince Deron to re-sign.

Maybe they mean that Garnett has full bird rights so the Cs would essentially have the right to match any offer no matter their financial situation, up to the absolute maximum that any team could pay him next year.
I highly doubt the Celtics offer more than 6-7mill/yr but while they dont have right of first refusal, they do have the right to make a counter-offer with no financial restrictions other than maximum player salary.
