Can't tell if serious... This "rumor" has been bullshit from the get-go -- the Mavs aren't in contact with Boston. And just because the Celtics are interested in Bamba doesn't mean the Mavs don't have better options than him at #5... What would be stupid is dealing with Danny Ainge again -- after the ink dries we'll probably find out that Brown is secretly dating a Kardashian or something.

THANK YOU! This is a non f'in story that has somehow made it more than a fart's length
This is how BS rumors work. Dumb dumb write "story" from sauces...spreads through social media...media ask teams...teams say no.
The end.

Contingent on the player the Celts want being there and the guy(s) we want not being there at 5. Brown, 27 and Sac pick would be awfully tempting. Or substitute Rozier for 27, though idk that Celtics would that probably not

Sounds like a pass on MPJ the way I read it from Sefko...
Eddie Sefko
@SportsDayDFW - As mentioned earlier, if the back is healthy, he might be the steal of the draft. If there's any issue whatsoever, pass. They need big wing players who can slide to power forward, so he'd be a great fit. Again, only if he's 100-percent healthy.

Just realized when that chat happened on May 22nd.

It most likely is a b.s.story but it’s also possible there is a grain of truth in there some where. Either way, it gives us something to talk about? Not much going on Mavs related right now

Right, but it's just fishing for clicks really since GMs talk to GMs on a daily basis. This thing never had legs of any kind.
I can somewhat see the value in showing that these picks are worth more than that package, but everyone should know how valuable these picks are by now. It's no secret.
It's not that we shouldn't talk about or post rumors, it's just that this thing won't go away when there is no smoke to be found.

But there never was a "rumor" in the first place -- just a report that Boston liked Bamba and a writer spitballing ideas to move up in the draft (which involved Dallas and Memphis)... It's really no different than if the Mavs said they liked Ayton, then you and I came up with trade scenarios to move up to #1.
Then along comes Mike "DUST Chip/Plan Powder" Fisher who puts out an article saying that "IF Boston mad an offer, then the Mavs should counter with Tatum" and this whole thing spiraled out of control, as if there was an actual conversation between Dallas and Boston (which there wasn't)... And now Tim Cato is reporting that people within the Mavs organization are saying they would have no interest in such a deal anyway, since they like the #3-8 prospects.
So no story, no rumor, just BS clickbait because assholes like Mike Fisher KNOW fans are desperate for something, anything..... but there's nothing.

Still waiting on Noel to get those multiple offers of max contracts that Fish's "league source" said, and how 12-14m per year would have been financial suicide for Noel if that's all we were prepared to offer him.

If Fish pulled this out of his ass, it's because the Mavs told him to drive up the value of the pick to explore trade offers, or they're trying to make sure Bamba gets taken ahead of them to free up one of Jackson, Doncic, and Bagley. OR I'm sleep deprived and bored and wishing badly for a 17-day coma.

If there's an angle here, that's the one I'd bet on... The Ntilikina Effect.

#ATLHawks GM Travis Schlenk said they could potentially move back in the #NBA Draft, out of that No. 3 spot:

Thats interesting. Would love to know how their player ranking is. Rumors are they are really high on Bagley, so i guess they may trade 1-2 spots down if Ayton and Bagley are gone

Reading on Hawks boards, a lot of ppl telling there that Trae would be the Schlenk pick (but maybe not from the scouting department)...
Right now the only thing im sure of is that Ayton, Doncic and Bagley are going before us. Doncic wont get past the Grizzlies and Marc is going to make sure that they dont pick Porter over Doncic. Bagley also wont slide past the Grizzlies if Doncic gets picked in the top 3

Little over two weeks to go so I collected a list of all the mock drafts along with how accurate they've been in the past. Draftexpress was the most accurate, but they've obviously been folded into ESPN.

I have a feeling CBS Sports' scenario has a decent chance of happening. In that case it will be between Jackson and Porter.
I'm taking Jackson in that scenario.

Don't be surprised at them taking Carter in that scenario. I'm actually 50/50 on choosing between Carter and Jackson. Not as high on JJJ as others are.

Yeah, I have a big concern with Jackson's drive and think he could slip into Rick's doghouse.
I think the physical attributes are there but not sure he'd be a good fit mentally. Rick's favorites seem to have fairly high BBIQs and one of the reasons why I think Bamba would probably be a good fit.
I'm thinking Carter could be available later in the draft and am wondering if a team like Chicago or NY would be willing to move up for guys like Porter or Young possibly leaving guys like Carter or Bridges for us along with more assets.

Depending on who's available I wouldn't mind us picking Carter. I think he has the tools to succeed as modern center tbh

Dwyane Wade (3.08)
James Harden (3.13)
John Wall (3.14)
Kemba Walker (3.16)

Rare that a full sprint will make a huge difference in the NBA and sprinting is something that is equalized by size (length of stride, etc.)
Still, that's darn impressive.
Faster than Westbrook on the break and longest wingspan ever recorded in the NBA combine

Jackson and Porter are all about the unicorn factor. Both are more likely to be busts than be anything, but man-- if they turn out, they are superstars.

Karl-Anthony Towns: 21.1 MPG / 10.3 PPG / 6.7 RPG / 2.3 BPG
Jaren Jackson Jr.: 21.8 MPG / 10.9 PPG / 5.8 RPG / 3.0 BPG

That is what is so crazy about Jackson....he's almost the perfect center for the current NBA and has the exact tools we need (stretch 4/5 and play solid D) but I can't get that disappearing act in the tourney out of my head and wonder if Carlisle will have the patience to let him play through his mistakes.

Ayton now not taking workouts. Has gotten a commitment from Suns according to Ayton
If that’s not a bluff, we’ll have to see how far Doncic falls

Its not a bluff, watch the Suns press conference with Ayton and you can see literally the boner in the pants of the Suns GM. Ayton is a lock and has the commitment.
Vlade and Vivek just went to spain to see Doncics game (a pretty good one). They are taking him.
I just hope that the Hawks are really so much in love with Bagley. or do something stupid with Trae, since he is working out for them. And then Porter or JJJ to Memphis, i hope..
Im starting to get really annoyed that we moved down. I want the Bamba unicorn potential in a Mavs jersey

If they share the medical report from last thursday with every team it pretty much means its a positive report...more options for everyone ahead of us, specially Memphis.

So only the Bulls got to examine him, and he received a clean bill of health. The same team that recorded Bamba as the fastest player ever in the world. Seems legit.

Count me out on Bamba. The offense is so bad and worst of all he’s not a rim runner which is a maverick staple. He lags on defense a lot too. I don’t know if he’s worth the risk.

Bamba's weaknesses are all fairly readible teaching points. His shot and drive will be up to him to develop and key in on.
I like the KAT comparison for JJJ. Except we can probably already argue JJJ is the superior defender. He will require some patience and endurance of bumps along the road, but I like him a lot.
I'd be happy with either, or MPJ. Just not high on Doncic as a fit for this team. Bagley would be fine, but we'd need to find a way to make him useful on defense.
I think the draft falls:
Ayton
Doncic
Bamba/JJJ
Bagley
Bamba/JJJ
With Porter being the wild card, and potentially a reach for Trae Young.

After scouring the internet, I have finally found a video that if you watch it to the end you can dig up a cpl negatives on Bamba. Take a look
