Middleton has taken over a few times now late because of that mid range. Booker too

Kawhi is a deadly mid range shooter, Kawhi would solve a lot of problems in Dallas whenever he gets healthy, we should sign Kawhi! /s

Anyone have a link to the press conference with Nico/Kidd? I got stuck on a call at work and only caught the last 2-3 min.

While announcing two guys on the payroll. I agree it’s probably some back and forth with the article.

This.

Just the inherent ability to give it to a secondary playmaker/shot creator has shown invaluable. Middleton has insane mid range game and probably very comparable to Derozan. I'm wondering how that could influence KP and his game to the positive, as well.

The best part of the presser was the actual player references. Kidd said they are going to take Green's game to the next level and we will see a different KP next season.

Rick would NEVER say things like that. Pressure is on.

What's odd is that the game has turned into a dunking and 3 point shot contest.....then you see all of these mid range guys like Booker, Paul, etc. making these buckets from mid range....Refreshing to see.

All because of Dwight Howard. Ugh.

But the Iggy the Mavs woulda been getting wouldn't have moved the needle. Monta did turn out to be the better get short term, but still stupid by Cuban.

A little info from JRich when he had covid..twice.

Marc Stein: The Mavericks have an opening for a lead assistant after Orlando hired Jamahl Mosley as its new head coach. Detroit’s Sean Sweeney was the first to join Kidd’s coaching staff. The Lakers’ Greg. St. Jean, who worked alongside Kidd in LA, is also expected to join the Mavericks. – via Twitter TheSteinLine

Marc Stein: Dallas is progressing in its attempts to hire Igor Kokoskov as an assistant coach to Jason Kidd, league sources say. Kokoskov, who coached Luka Doncic to a EuroBasket title in 2017, is head coach at Turkish power Fenerbahce and would have to be released from his Fener contract. – via Twitter TheSteinLine

St.Jean was an advanced scout for the Lakers, but Vogel also had him in house to practice with the team, so he had a bit more on his table than just watching future opponents' games. I can see him helping Kidd with in game adjustments.

I think Sweeney will continue to work on player development, possibly the younger players like Green and Terry to start.

Kokoskov? Unlock some more of Doncic's game?

Barea?

At this rate it feels like Kidd is going to have 20 assistants

I don’t know if he moves the needle but I know at that time he would’ve been our best two way player by far. It just sucks because that type of stuff matters when building a team. I hope this is a clean slate for this team.

I don't think we missed much not getting Iggy. We weren't that good and Iggy was past his prime. We would have won maybe a few more games but ultimately wouldn't have been good enough while we just hurt our draft picks, so no Dennis Smith Jr or that next guy what's his name we got after DSJ.

FOR SOME, LIKE Dallas Mavericks guard Josh Richardson, the past 16 months are probably best forgotten. "I mean, I got COVID twice," Richardson says. "I'm hoping that this is just a memory that we look back on a few years and like, 'Oh yeah, that was crazy.'"

But then he caught himself.

"I think my takeaway is how adaptable we are," he says. "How proud I am that everybody was able to ... the NBA was able to make a semi-safe space for us to be able to compete." Richardson says he first tested positive on March 11, 2020, after the Philadelphia 76ers, for whom he was playing at the time, beat the Detroit Pistons. Four days prior, the Utah Jazz had played the Pistons. Rudy Gobert also tested positive for COVID-19 on March 11, and the Pistons subsequently had positive tests, as well.

Richardson says he didn't have any symptoms the first time and quarantined at his house -- with his dog, Champ -- for 25 days.

"That was before we knew anything about it," he says. "We didn't even test every day, so it could've been a false positive. But I was scared. I didn't want to give it to anyone else." He also didn't want to talk about it publicly.

"At the beginning, people would look at you funny," he says. "Like you had the plague." The second time he tested positive for COVID-19, there was no doubt. His symptoms started shortly after a game at the Denver Nuggets in early January. He lost his appetite. Then the headaches started. Then the body aches and chills.

For the next 11 days, Richardson sat alone in his hotel room in Denver.

"The only time I opened the door was to get tested at 7 in the morning and 5 at night," he says. "I could order Uber Eats. But they'd leave it at the front desk, and the people at the hotel would bring it up and knock on the door and sprint away." After a few days, he started feeling better. But he was still testing positive, so he had to stay in his room. He'd call teammates Jalen Brunson and Dorian Finney-Smith, who were quarantining themselves in separate rooms.

"We were all just making sure each other was still alive every day," he says.

A Mavericks trainer sent them Advil, Tylenol and electrolytes. Richardson would do pushups or work out on an exercise bike when he felt up to it. Most of the time, he slept, played video games or watched Mavericks games on TV.

The room had a window, at least.

"But it was looking at a freaking abandoned Greyhound bus station," Richardson says. "And it was snowing."

One of the days he noticed what looked like a music video being filmed on top of the bus station.

"That was entertaining!" he says. "I watched the whole production. They had an orange Mustang and people standing on top of it."

Richardson never found out what song the music video was for, but he hopes someone reading this will tell him.

For closure -- or something like it.

Covid twice.....ouch.

With Richardson....for the price....if he does bounce back....you have to ask yourself can we do better for that price?

If he's ring chasing....seems like the Lakers might be the best fit?

I don't know its early...personally, if I were him I'd stay out of this mess in the West and maybe look at Miami.....they seem to have a bunch of assets.....

I think the Knicks and the Sixers will be the biggest dreamers.....I just don't know what they have to offer.....

Richardson has a 11.61 million player option, and if he can't get that or more elsewhere I'm sure he'll opt in. It's out of our control.

“On @dfwticket, Jason Kidd doesn't dismiss the possibility that Bob Voulgaris might be part of basketball ops going forward. Kidd describes analytics as an important tool for lineup decisions -- not a bottom-line tool, but an important one to consider when deciding lineups.”

“Mavs GM Nico Harrison says on @1053thefan that he hasn't met Bob Voulgaris, and that he "honestly doesn't know" if Voulgaris will be part of basketball ops going forward. Says he'll sit down with Voulgaris and figure that out.”

Well you don't usually sit down and figure it out with someone that isn't going to be there. Cuban is.....I don't think the words I want to say are appropriate, for anyone.

Anyone know the date he has to opt in/out by?

It's weird, but I'm not sure I'm buying it. Would Portland really destroy themselves hiring Billups without assurance that Lillard will still stay another year?

And honestly, if Lillard does want out, then a big reason is the super twitter shit show Portland fans aimed at Lillard over the coaching search. It's really shocking that the fanbase would help run him out of town like that.

I don't known if I should be happy that they haven't been introduced to him or disturbed that they haven't.....if he's still with the organization when are they going to get introduced to him? Randomly right before the draft?

Nurkic sure seems to either be making a fool out of himself or a fool out of everyone who's believing this rumor....time will tell lol.

I don’t see how GS would be a good fit at all for him. I can’t imagine he wants to go through the same thing KD did where he is joining Curry’s team. If I’m Boston I’m throwing Brown and Smart out there and picks for Dame.
