I really hope we buck up for Prince. DoJo or a 2nd rounder + Butler for Prince.
I still don't like how thin at forward we are. Yes, losing Dirk is death. But losing Peja or Marion would almost be crippling, too. If we lost Marion, are we really comfortable throwing Stevenson, Kidd and... Peja.. at Kobe/Manu/Durant in 7-game series? Do we really want to rely on Cardinal for 20 minutes if either Marion/Peja go down?
EDIT:
I'll also add I like my odds if and when Cuban and MJ get on the phone to do trades.

I really didn't like seeing Cardinal out there yesterday with Marion in foul trouble, too. Could Prince also play a little 2? Because then I would be totally comfortable in throwing in D-Steve if necessary.

im wondering if Cuban could pull out a deal for Prince (+pick/cash) where they agree to S&T Prince and Butler back to the original teams after the new CBA is done.
And if the league would cockblock such a trade and re-trade

Just heard that the Mavs might trade Butler to a team thats under the cap for a Mid Level Exception that basically gives them Butlers expiring contract for another year.

How does that work with bringing him back if cut from the team we traded him to?

Im sure they wouldn't try to bring him back until the next season.
Their #1 priority has to be getting a deal done with Tyson Chandler.

No surprise there...

The lack of trade rumors for the Mavs today suggests we're staying as is.

Not necessarily...I haven't heard anything new today but you don't have to go back that far to see the Mavs do a pretty good job of keeping their news hush hush.
See Peja, Ajinca and Toronto..
I'm here at HQ, they practice at 11 and then it'll be time for the waiting game.

Sources are telling me that this could be a day leading up to nothing.
They've got their mind set on the players mentioned last night...if nothing changes with either situation, they're not doing anything.

Who was the other player besides Tayshaun that they are interested in again?

Not really, but I won't cry too much if it doesn't. I'd actually prefer Prince but I assume that's completely off the table.

I really hate JR Smith in Denver, not sure how i would feel if he was in a Mav uni....his athleticism and shooting ability would be a welcome addition...however his defense is suspect and his scoring is sporadic....one game he will score 25 and the next 3...the guy is an emotional train wreck as well
TBH I would rather have Prince...

I think it's close to being off the table but Donnie and Co. will continue trying to hammer Joe D into submission with the idea of getting Prince.
The only outside chance of a move is the one Skin mentioned, which will piss people off to an extent. That is being floated around as a theory.
The TEs aren't very strong in value right now but they could gain huge value as the draft gets closer and closer...getting luxury tax savings would be very significant though.

I hate JR, but im not the biggest JET fan either....I would rather have JR over JET.....i know im playing with fire and messing up chemistry but that is the risk I would take.

Dunno how much we are willing to add to the standing offer. We already have an open roster spot, so adding D-Steve/DoJo (i.e.) to the deal without further arrivals would hurt our depth even if Prince could also play the 2.
