I disagree. I mean not about the latter because you're probably right. Most teams probably would've gotten rid of his contract(doesn't mean its the right move because every team would do it) but Fin's been consistent on both sides of the basketball this year. Like MFF said, its been his most consistent year as a Spur. Not sure what his stats look like for the season but he's been legit since Ginobilli has gone out and that goes for the beginning of the season and right now. As far as being barely better than Wright, I wish Wright would hit that open 3 point shot from the corner that Finley has hit consistently in the clutch for the Spurs. That's my biggest complaint about Wright. He can attack the rack but the guy refuses to hit the open J. Fin carried that Spurs team against the Lakers the other night. He attacked the rack and hit jumpers all over the court while playing good defense on Ariza. They lost so maybe that sort of goes against my point but it was a good effort for a team where no one showed up but Finley. He's still got some game left. Spurs are getting a bargain on his contract and looks like they will with Drew Gooden as well.

ROCKETS curse continues.............
Rockets' Landry shot in leg near downtown Houston
Incident followed return from team's New Orleans trip
By FRAN BLINEBURY and MIKE GLENN
Houston Chronicle
Houston Rockets forward Carl Landry suffered a gunshot wound to his lower leg early this morning in a possible drive-by shooting or failed robbery near downtown, police said.
Landry, 25, was released after treatment at Memorial Hermann Hospital. A team spokesman said he suffered a flesh wound and is expected to be out of the lineup for one to two weeks.
The incident happened in the 3100 block of Leeland, a short distance southeast of downtown, about 4:20 a.m., Houston police said in a preliminary report.
Landry and the rest of the Rockets had just returned from New Orleans after their 95-84 victory over the Hornets. The team's charter flight landed at Hobby Airport shortly after midnight, according to a team spokesman.
According to police, Landry was driving when another vehicle bumped his car. He got out to inspect the damage and two shots were fired from the other vehicle as it slowly passed him, team officials said.
The second shot struck Landry.
Descriptions of the vehicle and its occupants were not yet available this morning. Police have not determined whether the vehicle may have bumped Landry's car in an effort to rob him.
Landry, in his second professional season with the Rockets, had played 23 minutes, totaling 12 points and six rebounds, and played a key role in the Rockets’ win at New Orleans. He is averaging 9.3 points and 5 rebounds this season.

Team spokesman Nelson Luis said Landry, 25, suffered a flesh wound during a random shooting while getting fast food in the 3000 of Leeland Street in downtown Houston at about 1:30 a.m.
Houston police said two men in a vehicle behind Landry's opened fire. Landry exited his vehicle to see what was happening and was wounded in the lower leg.
Team officials said Landry was treated at and released from a Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Police said the shooters got away.
Landry played with the Rockets in New Orleans on Monday. He played 23 minutes and scored 12 points in the 95-84 victory.
Officials have not said how the shooting will affect the rest of Landry's season.
Landry is in his second season with the Rockets and in the NBA. He has played in 64 games for the Rockets this season and averages 9.3 points per game. He played college ball at Purdue and Vincennes University.

This is an early sketch of the apparent suspect who shot Carl Landry.....
In all seriousness, I'm glad Carl Landry is alright:
Quote:
Landry was apparently the victim of a random shooting. He was driving in the 3,000 block of Leeland at around 4am when two men rear-ended his car. When Landry got out to see what had happened, at least one of the two men shot him in the leg. Landry sustained a flesh would and ran to several of his neighbors' homes to try to get someone to help him.
One of his neighbors who didn't want to be shown on camera said he had no idea it was Landry outside his door who needed help. He showed us the trail of blood Landry left behind.

Update:
Quote:
According to Senior Officers D.W. Arnold and R.A. Moreno of the Houston police homicide division, Landry was driving southbound on Leeland with a female passenger when a gray Honda Civic, traveling northbound, swerved into Landry's lane and sideswiped his sport-utility vehicle.
Landry made a partial U-turn near Palmer Street and the Honda also turned around and again struck Landry's SUV, causing it to hit a wooden utility pole and stop, the officers said.
After Landry got out, two men got out of the Honda and one of them pulled a pistol from his back pocket and fired twice, police said. After being hit, Landry ran for help, they said.
The two men ran after Landry for a short distance before giving up and running away, police said. The woman in Landry's SUV was not injured, they said.
Landry described the attackers as Hispanic men in their early to mid-20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 150 to 160 pounds. They had short black hair and wore all-black clothing, he said.

The female set him up I'm thinking. With one leg, Carl Landry was able to outrun two scrawny little ****ers (from the descriptions, sounds like MS-13) who thought they were tough with a gun. Therefore, Carl Landry is now a BAMF.

I believe it was 2Pac that made that quote. It went B--ches rule the world and make the world go round. Now my Math background is not strong. But If B--tches make the world go round; and you say that the Rockets make the world go round. I am forced to deduce that the Rockets = Bitches. Game over lad

Twolves in New Orleans, lost by 1 point.
Denver in Memphis, won by only 2 points.
it's not only Dallas who is having trouble beating teams that they are "supposed to beat"

Alby, but when you are on top of the mountain, you can afford to slip a little bit. The Mavs are on the bottom trying to get on top, they can't afford to slip.

The Rockets and the Hornets aren't on top of anything though.
I think 3-9 in the West is lacking great teams. Last year 5 teams won 54+ and years before you always had a big 3, whether it was Spurs/Suns/Mavs or Lakers/Spurs/Kings or what have you.
This year I think only the Lakers and Spurs will get to 55 wins and nobody else is really that great.

On top is relative. But Houston is 3rd, Dennver is 4th, and NO is 6th. If you exclude the LA (because no one is catching them)... those 3 teams I just mentioned are on top. Next week, Utah and Portland may be on top because they are basically tied.
But Dallas is in the same boat as Phx. Phx needs Dallas to lose (which probably won't happen) just to be in the 8ths spot. Dallas has to have those other teams to lose (which probably won't happen) for the Mavs to get at least the 7th. And it isn't just a random team losing. It has to be the 7th place team that loses. Hence why it makes it harder for Dallas. The 3-7 constantly changes so therefore a team may lose or a team may win, but they will be somewhere in that slot.

I don't understand how being a #6 seed (Hornets) is considered a team who is at the top of the mountain, but whatever floats your boat man. I'm just pointing out that every team in the NBA has trouble winning on any given night. Even the Lakers lost at home to a Philly team, and the Spurs lost to the Thunder. People need to start watching these games to enjoy what we have when it comes to the Mavericks instead of criticizing every damn thing all the time, a win is a win and a lost is a lost. We are in the middle of a heated playoff race where we can finish anywhere from 2nd to 9th, take advantage of what you have. Because when Dirk is gone, we're going to be sitting here re-living everything that once was.

I dunno about that.
Phoenix may be literally 2 losses away from being out of the playoffs.
If the Mavs themselves went 12-2 down the stretch, they would get a 4th/5th seed. 4 game gap with 14 left to play is HUGE.
The situations are pretty different IMO. We're closer to 3rd than we are to 9th.
Not making any bold predictions, just saying!

Saying Houston or NO is on top of the mountain is quite a statement. It's one I don't agree with it at all, especially Houston. When they get out of the first round and do something, then maybe we can talk...
At least NO can say they've made a dent in the playoffs, not made a #2.
Neither team is on top of the mountain. The Lakers and Spurs can say that, everyone else is up for debate on how they'll do, it's matchups.
