If that is the case how much will it cost for Dirk, Gasol, Goran and BRush? keeping BWright, DWest and Roddy and the 3 rookies? Can't be that much.
And if anybody knows...how valuable are expiring contracts in the CBA? Gasol will be one next year.

No, there are penalties that will be kicking in... Prokhorov is just willing to pay them.

It will be normal luxury tax penalties this year ($1 lux tax for each $1 over the cap), then it starts ramping up. People say Prokhorov is a $15 billion dollar man, so I suppose it's a risk he's willing to tax. Obviously, if the Nets win a title or even just get to the Finals, the money is going to easily cover what he spent on the team. New York teams make money, period.

Just go get Nash, so we can have a little fun until Dirk is done. None of this keeping the pussy dry just to tease us again next summer.

Tyreke Evans anyone? Can stick him at the 1 or 2 and Kings don't want much for him.

I have no comment for the FO, the way they've screwed things up since our championship has been mind-boggling.

They might take Roddy + throw ins for him. It seems they really just want to dump his ass.

This.
I knew that trying to get Deron Williams was a big risk and didn't see a reason for him to join this Mavs team that is getting older..

I think it's funny that people are laughing at other teams for over paying guys and people honestly want us to get into the dragic bidding war and pay him 9-10 mill a year for a guy that has played hard but is far from a star.
It reeks of desperation in the worst way.

Dragic is good. Rick can make him work. We do need to sign a PG. Do any of you biased people on this forum really think we have a shot at Chris Paul next year? I don't. The NBA PG is a young slasher that can make things happen. We tried to get one and struck out. Now we can get one at half price. Do it.

I wish we could get him..If the Mavs can get 16/8 from the point guard spot for the next 3-4 years they are set

I'll have to respectfully disagree. You're getting him for what he can give you now and for what he can potentially give you in the future. To me, he's a guy who has been a great change of pace backup and has performed well in opportunities where he's been given more or actually started.
Last year (per 36 mins): 15.9 points, 7.2 assists with 46% shooting from the field. You can look at the stretch he had to finish the year, actual starter minutes with Lowry out and he averaged around 17 points, 7.7 assists with 48% shooting and 37% shooting from range. He saw a nice uptick in PER, as well.
I think he needs work from three-point land, but he's a fearless guy who will attack the basket.
He still needs more grooming, but I'm sold he's worth the money.

I don't think so.
If you want to win... you have to pay. PG is a crucial piece especially here where we don't have a lot of ball handlers. You gotta be kidding me about waiting for the most flaky player in the NBA- Dwight or even further down the crackpipe CP3. Commit to a young guy like Dragic (or Lin) and build around them. Sucks for Dirk but this team will be around LONG after he will.
I wonder how much Dirk believed in getting Deron. Cuban too for that matter, they both should have been there if they wanted to go all out on a pitch. Neither of them were, somehow we had Michael Finleythere. WTF?

Do we have anything for BRush? If this guy available? I think he is a Restricted Free agent, right? Can we squeeze the warriors somehow?...they have Thompson and Barnes.
Is it any interest in Mavs land?

definitely. I've been keeping an eye on him ever since his phoenix days. I always felt that he was a hard working player and every time he stepped on the court he would change the pace. He was just hindered by limited minutes and backing up one of the best PGs of the league. He can create his own shots (both inside and outside), had flashes of steve nash's passing, played smart, and was active in the defensive end. I saw his 23 point 4th quarter performance against the spurs in the playoffs, and I saw him dismantle the Lakers last season (because my brother's a Lakers fan). How many point guards in the league can you name that can almost single handedly shred the Lakers defense, inside and out?

RFA. I haven't heard anything in terms of interest yet. There's more interest in guys like Ray Allen, CJ Miles and others we've already heard about.

Dragic is a more talented Roddy. Both are undersized SG's with bad court vision.

Or an undersized giant. Dammit, we can't afford any more tweeners on this squad.
