This is a good move for them. Better and younger version of Rondo with similar a set.

So the Mavs couldn't get Cousins for 5 million and Randle for 9 million a year? Or was that not a option for us?

Might as well contract the league to 8 teams, what the fuck is the point anymore?

You know what would be the best thing for the NBA and us?
Mavs block Jordan and his agent from calling and throw that 24mill at Cousins.

Nope, neither was an option... I certainly wouldn't take Randle over Jordan, so we didn't have money for both... And Boogie was only taking a $5m deal from one team in the league, and it sure as shit wasn't the Mavs.

@NickVanExit: This is the perfect spot for DeMarcus Cousins too. Get the "loser" monkey off his back, rehab with the staff that revived Curry, not be rushed back, get a huge showcase in the playoffs, probably win a title, then get a chance to hit the market again next year.

I agree that it’s a good move on his part but def didn’t see it coming.
He gets to take his time and recover and when he comes back not much pressure. But he will still produce good numbers and get himself a nice contract next year when there is more $$ andnpossibly by then have a ring.

If 15 million would've gotten us both Cousins and Randle.......you then had another 10 million to do something with. That would've been far smarter than banking on Deandre......BUT....that's if that deal was available to us.

People tend to take pay cuts to play for titles. Dallas isn’t playing for titles. Not an option

How does that get the loser label off his back? He's the 5th option. He just took the Javale McGee role lol.

HE's in his 20's....he doesn't strike me as a person who just plays for titles this early in his career....even if that is true which may be.....RAndle believes the Pelicans are playing for a title?

IMO, getting Cousins sounds great on paper......but his impact is going to be limited. Its going to be similar to Klay THompson's impact. The Warriors don't need Klay to win but it allows for them to allow some guys to take it easy some nights when he's on fire. Warriors are still going to score 110-120 a night..........it won't be 150.

I guess GSW will do with Boogie what they did with Durant. Just back off and give him the spotlight. Team is so good that any decent player can dominate and be a Finals MVP. So why not take a year off and let Boogie run the team for a change? Because who cares? They'll win the title anyway. And then Cousins can claim how "good" he was during the title run and that he "didn't just tag along". Yeah... whatever. He's going to stay a loser, now even more.

@JonnyAuping: I can’t see how anyone could blame the Warriors for taking advantage of the small window they have before Dennis Smith and Luka Doncic are running the league.

The NBA won't be exciting until the Warriors are disbanded or the Celtics land another superstar without giving up anything.

Who says it will stop with the Warriors? The whole league is about super teams now. That's all it's going to be going forward. When GSW's die there will 100% be 1 or 2 other super teams that will be the favorites, until the next and the next etc.. As long as the money stays where it's at and the CBA stays like it is then I don't see this changing any time soon.

Are the Lakers offering or planning to trade Lonzo for Kawhi? Otherwise having Lonzo and Rondo makes zero sense. He won't mentor him, he might bring some championship experience and toughness, but nothing that LeBron himself is not bringing. Either LAL are scrambling for assets to have or they are simply trying to have something surrounding LeBron.
Can't be mad at Cousins. His chance at big bucks was closed this summer, so why not go and take a title discount. Him joining Warriors helps LeBron quite a bit. He can't be expected to beat them, plus everyone in that Warriors team will have difficult to measure up against LeBron or Jordan, when there is a goat discussion after GSW (Durant/Curry) reaches title number 5. Cousins likes having accomplishments without doing anything. The one time his team played in tje playoffs... he was injered and the team played better withoet him.
Not sure what Pelicans are doing. Rondo seemed to fit well there. Might've simply been that Lakers offer was more interesting for him.
Wizards are still being idiots. I get removing Gortat from their lineup, but they still don't have a starting center, didn't draft one, haven't chased for one... Maybe D12 is bound to end up there and show Wall that Gortat wasn't half as bad? No way Howard is joining Lakers, Warriors already said they want nothing + they have their big man.

I wonder if LeBron reconsiders his move to the Lakers? It's still not too late to pull a DeAndra, try to sign with a team in the East... No way in hell he's going to the Finals this year. Hell, I'm not sure if the Lakers even beat the Rockets unless they somehow land Kawhi (and even then it's no sure bet).

Honestly, treat every Warriors game as scheduled rest for the entire S5. Maybe not the home games, but the away games for sure.
No point risking an injury in such a game. The entire league should do this as protest.

I have no idea what the Lakers are doing. People keep saying they are drafting well but they found Kuzma who went maybe a few spots earlier than expected. Hart is a nice role player, as expected. Took Ball and the family circus over likely better players like Tatum. And drafting Ingram was a no brained and Kupchak anyway. Then they make some strange signings. Do we really know that they know what they are doing? Pelinka was an agent and Magic is a figurehead. I guess it’s LA and they have Lebron and capspace next year too potentially or Kawhi. Rooting for Kawhi to Sixers now

Anyone remember when Stern vetoed Chris Paul to the Lakers because it would have been bad for competition?

It wasn't bad for competition, it was a conflict of interest because the NBA owned NO.

I still remember it that way. Also loved when Barkley quit the Suns and joined Jordan and Pippen on the Bulls
Anyway, anyone think LeBron gets another ring?

I like how LeBron teams are always constructed the same way. They always kind of seem to surround him with random veterans and solid role players and hope that they a) grow into a team and b) become that much better because LeBron is on the court. Still need that second, third, fourth, and fifth all-star to compete with the Warriors.
In LA of course you also have promising rooks, but Rondo is the kind of move I'll never understand.

I don't even think he gets back to the Finals... Every year that LA ties to construct a winning roster around him is another year his athleticism can start fading.

Remember, LeBron WANTED Calderon on the Cavs, insisted that he'd be their starting PG... Bron sucks as a GM.

He’s a poor GM because his number one criteria is being willing to kiss his ass.

Your argument basis is false ... "if 15 million would've gotten us both" ... because it would not. The Mavs are not a super team of Curry/KD/Klay/Green and won 3 of the last 4 years and extremely likely of winning it all again this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is a move to allow a Lonzo trade. Otherwise, the drama there between Daddy Ball and Rondo will be extremely entertaining.

The league facilitated this super team mess, now they have to live with it. But again, ratings were up last year so "people" like this.

I think is just the case of players wanting to leave because they know the team isn't going to win. Maybe this encourages Brow to join DSJ and Doncic and then we will for sure be able to sign Greek Freak. Then we'll be set, right?

This was 100% a move to appease their star player Wall, nothing else. Now let's see what they do.
