Collison may be the only starter on a .500 team that has a negative +/-. It says something.

dOWN BY 24, cARLISLW SHOULD HAVE JUST LEFT THE BENCH OUT THERE TO SEE IF THEY COULD CUT INTO THE LEAD EVEN MORE. hE PUT THE STARTERS BACK IN AND THEY PLAYED FOR 6 MINUTES WITHOUT MAKING A DENT INSTEAD LOSING GROUND.
DAMN CAPSLOCK.

Nope. I don't have use of my right hand from CP, so I type using one hand. And I look at the keyboard when I type. Only look up after I've finished my statement.

How bad is thing going to get? The wheels have shot so far off, they aren't ever coming back. At this point, it would be a minor miracle if this team won ten more games.

Maybe those starters need to learn how to play.

This game does not deserve a PGT.
I just don't get the lineup changes as Kaman was pretty good when he was starting. It seems like he struggles coming off the bench.

We need a PG !
Collison is a typical 2nd unit player. Too inconsistent to play big minutes. And too bad on defense.

out rebounded 61-39
Antawn gets 15 rebs in 30 minutes, equal to the entire Mavs' frontcourt (Brand, Kaman, Wright, James, Murphy) in 119 minutes.
Dennis Rodman quote...
"had an old coach tell me once that rebounding is all about desire. (want to)"
The 5 time NBA champion is the only player to lead the league in rebounding for seven straight seasons.
...and Rodman was only 6'6" 220lbs.

Can't believe I wrote that...So glad I didn't stay on the internet last night and have NBA league pass.
It was definitely one of those nights as far as the offense goes. However, the defense/rebounding continues to be awful.
Ron Artest is in really great shape.

World Peace with 5 threes. Jamison looking like it's 2004? This game is definitely out of the norm. Just one of those fluke occasions.

This was inexcusable. Wright was our best player for the first six minutes and he doesn't play again till the end? I love Carlisle and he deserves the benefit of the doubt but at this point im wondering if Carlisle caught him banging his wife or something. A cynic could even argue that he started today specifically to try to make him look bad, because for a guy who supposedly can't play because he can't defend due to a lack of girth is there a worse front court to play against then the lakers? I don't really think that's the case and iv decided that carlisles thinking is he wants to know now if there is any way we can get away with another unathletic big in the game with kaman so he won't have to waste any time experimenting once dirk comes back but the answer is a resounding no and we are hurting ourselves by ignoring that. Also every word carlisle has ever said about earning pt rings hollow when you keep playing Murphy over wright.

Wright can't rebound to save his life. That is why he doesn't play. How are people not understanding that? He has three rebounds in the past five games he has played in. The Lakers out rebounded us 61-39. Any offensive goodness that Wright brings is almost completely negated by his less than mediocre defense and putrid rebounding.

Well, in the last 5 games he has only played 43 minutes as well.
Brendan Wright: 3.3 rebounds in 17 MPG
Troy Murphy: 3.9 rebounds in 19 MPG
Rebounding isn't the issue as it is his perceived lack of rebounding.

No...it isn't a perception. Centers need to either play good defense or rebound. The lack of either will quickly lead to the bench under Carlisle. Wright has some good moves around the basket, but he lacks in most other areas. I don't think either Wright or Murphy will get many if any minutes when Dirk gets back.

He's a pf. How do people not get that? He's not a putrid rebounder for a pf. I don't have any problem with him not getting minutes when dirks healthy, but he's easily the best pf on this roster(ignoring Marion)

Wright starts, team falls 16-9, lakers light us up. Wright just isn't a very solid basketball p,Ayer.

It's wrights fault that mayo can't guard Ron Artest? Because wright actually did a great job against Gasol and even the couple of times he was on howard

Rick won't give him meaningful minutes at the pf position. Tell it to him.

So far this season shows us how spoiled we were with 50+wins MAVS basketball. It is almost impossible to watch this .500 crap on TV for 48min.

I can't imagine they're going to allow the franchise to continue at this rate. May be about time to pull the plug on the failed experiment that is the Dallas Mavericks.

3-pointer: Elton Brand, Chris Kaman trust coach's decisions
By Tim MacMahon | ESPNDallas.com
http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/maver...achs-decisions
DALLAS – In coach Rick Carlisle they trust.
Chris Kaman and Elton Brand are a couple of proud NBA veterans who would prefer to start, as they’ve done throughout their careers. However, they accept that won’t always be the case with the Mavericks.
Brand had started all 11 games before he came off the bench in Wednesday’s win over the Knicks. He was back in the starting lineup for Saturday’s loss to the Lakers.
Kaman had started five straight games before Saturday night, when he came off the bench.
Neither Brand nor Kaman knows whether they’ll be starters when the Mavs play the Sixers on Tuesday. It’s a situation that would prompt a lot of players with their pedigree to complain. Brand and Kaman prefer to point out that Carlisle is one of the NBA’s elite coaches -- as evidenced by his championship ring -- and put faith in him to figure out what’s best for the team.
“He’s a great coach,” Brand said. “He’s going to figure it out and put it together. He has already a little bit this season and we got some great wins. We’re just going to follow his lead.”
Added Kaman: “He knows what he’s doing. I trust his decisions.”
Brand and Kaman both had rough nights in the lopsided loss to the Lakers. (Of course, most Mavs did.) Brand went scoreless, grabbed four rebounds and committed five fouls in 17 minutes. Kaman fouled out in 24 minutes, scoring four points on 2-of-12 shooting and grabbing three rebounds.
A few more notes from the blowout loss:
1. Rebounding repeat: The troubling trend of the Mavs getting hammered on the boards continued.
The Lakers had a 61-39 rebounding edge. That’s painfully similar to the Warriors’ 62-43 rebounding edge on Monday night.
It’s no coincidence that the Mavs lost those two games during this three-game homestand.
“It’s just disappointing when we see it on tape over and over again,” Brand said. “The coaching staff is not letting us slide. We’re watching it over and over again. They’re drilling it in our heads. We have to do something.”
2. Wright’s plight: Brandan Wright has no idea how he fits on this roster right now.
Wright didn’t play in two of the previous five games and then found himself in the starting lineup Saturday night. After scoring six points in the first six minutes, he didn’t get off the bench again until garbage time.
“I don’t know, man,” Wright said. “I think I’m doing everything I can. I thought I had a solid start tonight. Maybe it’s because we got down big or whatever. The rotation has been strange, but we’ve just got to keep rolling with it and see what happens.”
Carlisle has been clear that his biggest concern with Wright is his poor rebounding. Wright had one rebound in 13 minutes against the Lakers.
3. Mayo's jumper off: O.J. Mayo had an off shooting night, which hasn’t happened often this season.
Mayo scored 13 points on 5-of-15 shooting, the first time since the season-opening win over the Lakers that he had fewer points than field goal attempts. He was 0-of-5 from 3-point range, marking the first time all season that the NBA’s leader in 3-pointers made failed to hit at least one in a game. Mayo, who is 42-of-79 from long range this season, has hit at least two 3s in every other game but one.

That's good foresight. Contraction is certainly an option that should be on the table.
