Gonna be confusing as hell if Oden signs with Miami. #ObviousJokeIsObvious

What the heck is up with this? Are we seriously waiting around to hear from Oden and Dalembert? I surely hope there is more hope for the position than just those two and Wright.

I think it's highly unlikely that Dallas is going to do better than that at the center position, though. Outside of Pek (and to be fair, there's still probably at least a little S&T chatter going on behind the scenes with him or he'd have already signed with Minny), the guys you mentioned are the best of what the free agent center market has to offer right now, and that market is the price of having prioritized backcourt acquisitions over frontcourt acquisitions in the wake of Dwight's decision to go to Houston. For my part, if Dallas manages to get all three of those guys + Devin signed to go along with Calderon/Ellis/Ellington without having to sacrifice anything beyond, say, Akognon/Sarge/Calathes, I'll be pretty damn impressed.

Marcus Camby is now free. Not a bad idea for 1 year contract.

Hell yeah - you can never have enough three-point shooters on your squad!!! Camby nailed *40% of his attempts from beyond the arc in 11-12.

*lol, he was 2-5 on bailouts.

Grab 2 of these Daly/Camby/Oden and sign Wright and lets rock the Western Conference.

Personally prefer Daly/Camby but I honestly just want to see closure at the Center position so we can sign Harris and complete the lineup.

Give me Camby and Dalembert on short contracts of the available players I see.

Go after Gortat or Asik at the deadline if these two don't work out.

Wow - definite lack of good centers in the league.

Sign Dalembert(If no possible, Camby) and Brandan Wight

If the season goes well, try a trade for a 2014 FA like Sanders, Varejão or Gortat.

I'm not a big Dalembert fan, but I suppose we had to do it. I won't crap on him like some people do with Ellis. Just hope he is better than Kaman at the very least.

Daly I think will be an upgrade from Kaman at Center.

So it's Dalembert/Wright/James?

nice to have some younger guys with potential as your backups. I like the idea of Wright getting some more minutes. Could be the same or better than last year.

Could be a good sign depending on the price.. Good mix of veteran rebounding/defense with an offensive minding wright getting more minutes. Side note maybe dally can help with monta sense he played with Iverson and the 76ers! Obviously that's irrelevant just a side note.

Just curious can Bernard James be a decent backup C to compliment Wright/Dirk? I didn't get to see a lot of him last year.

He's tough inside the paint to get rebounds and go for blocks. But his offense lacks.

Cuban said adding Dalembert does not affect the Mavs’ hot pursuit of another center — Greg Oden.

“It doesn’t mean [trying to sign Oden is over],” Cuban said. “It’s a totally different thing, because Greg, who knows when he’ll be able to play, so we’ll see.

“We just looked at the medical side and we haven’t talked to him about deals or anything yet. So whether or not we have a shot, I don’t know.”

If Cuban hasn't talked contract numbers with Oden at this stage, it can only mean they're offering a minimum veteran's salary. It doesn't sound like the Mavs have much of a chance with Oden.

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine: Big-man priority for Mavs at this point continues to be Greg Oden, with Dallas still in mix for Oden along with Heat, Spurs and Pelicans

So Dalembert is our only center right now... Better get Oden and hope that he's healthy, otherwise we're going to have to get a big off the scrap heap (is Old Man Camby still available?)

There are some nice young talent, mainly Valanciunas, Drummond, and Kanter, but yeah, not a whole lot of depth at the position at the moment. Same with the SG position. It's probably just a transitional period.

So who do we go after now? I think its clear oden isn't choosing Dallas, we can't even offer the biggest salary, so who next on the list?

Is there a chance to get Valanciunas?

Huge potential. Destroyed everything in Summerleaugue.

All Summer Leaugue Team in all reports.

He's under contract with Toronto through the 15-16 season.

No chance Toronto gives anyone JV. He's the only untouchable Raptor right now to be honest. Everyone here is hoping for a breakout season this year, and even in the last his advanced stats were very promising.

Boy I wish we could've signed Elton brand. But he got a nice deal in atl. I like his hustle and would be a nice combo of Daly/brand/wright/sarge
