Yes. They keep the pick if they:
a)Miss the playoffs in which case its most likely pick 14
b)Make the playoffs without having a top 10 record. Would need to finish 8th in the West but have an Eastern team leapfrog us. Not likely as we are a couple games ahead of Chicago and Toronto last I checked.

So b would be a disaster. First round sweep, still can't trade a future pick, and no ping pong balls.

What a load of crap.

Monta 6 pts in ot on 50% shooting. 3 3 point shots.
Vince 0 points, 0-2 shooting
Devin 0 points on 0-1 shooting.
Dumbass.

Dirk's numbers before the ASG:
52 games: 32.21 mpg, 21.69 ppg, 6.07 rpg, 2.78 apg, 0.94 spg, 0.59 bpg on 49.2/41.2/91 shooting.
Dirk's numbers after the ASG:
17 games: 32.64 mpg, 20.05 ppg, 5.82 rpg, 2 apg, 0.76 spg, 0.23 bpg on 47.9/32.9/93.9 shooting
Cuban was IMO not that wise to call blame Dirk in the public as it only puts even more pressure on Dirk, but according to the stats you can't say that he was completely wrong. Since the ASG Dirk has experienced a dropoff in productivity. His minutes played per game have risen a bit, maybe Carlisle should have rested him more?

Cuban and Dirk has been representing the Mavs for a decade, I won't blame any of them.

Just kinda frightening to think about what the team would be like without Ellis. Dirk would have been exhausted much, much earlier. Ellis isn't a great player, but he is without a doubt the second best player on a team that desperately needs to help the big German.

His minutes are the same, 0.43 is nothing.
Just a bad timing for playing "bad".

True. Was just a guess. But sometimes it seems it's forbidden in here to even think of criticizing Dirk. I still recall Cadbane going berzerk on anyone who dared to write anything bad about him. Don't get me wrong, I love watching Dirk play, but it should also be allowed to say if his productivity has taken a hit. And if you compare the numbers pre and after the ASG, that's unfortunately the case. That does NOT mean Dirk is playing bad. He's simply not playing as good as he did in the first part of the season.

Make the playoffs (at least 8th seed)
1) Draft 21st, give that pick to OKC
2) No further draft obligations
3) Draft 36 and 51 (early second and late-second)
4) Have a chance at San Antonio in the playoffs
Fail to make the playoffs (let Phoenix bump us out of the playoffs)
1) Draft 14th, keep the pick
2) Still owe OKC a pick, which becomes unprotected in 2018
3) Draft 14th, 36th, and 51st (mid first, early second and late second)

The funk in those last minutes were horrible. If you can't make the shots go in. You drive to the basket. It's almost that time of the season where you don't live by the jumper. Dirk will find his way back. He's too much of a great player who will find himself back at it.

With Toronto 3 games behind us (and Phoenix only 0.5), we really only have one option
1) We keep the 8th seed, face San Antonio, get the 21st pick overall, and hand the pick over to OKC. We'd have an early-second and a mid-second rounder and we'd have satisfied all of our obligations.
2) Phoenix passes us, we drop out of the playoffs and have the 11th best record in the league. We probably draft 14th and keep the pick to have a mid-first, a high-second and a mid-second. We'd still owe OKC a pick and if it takes until 2018, the draft pick becomes un-protected. Still, we'd have a decent amount to work with in trades or in a strong draft.

Our fate is set playing Golden state, Phoenix, and Memphis toward the end. I still think Memphis can help push Phoenix out the way.

[c] Win lottery. Draft 1,2, or 3. Dream.
[d] Gasol and Randolph go down or Dragic and Bledsoe go down. Chicago or Toronto go on a huge win streak, while we stumble into the playoffs. Nightmare.
