I'm with you. Its like that whole issue of when did it officially become the 20th century, and when was it the 21st. We are having dialogue though, and that's not random.
Lets see if I can get us back off track.
I bought a 1 TB HDD today. That seems like the future.

The letter 'E' is derived from an ancient pictogram depicting either a praying or an enraged man holding both of his arms and fists above his head...

Population, when unchecked, increases in a geometrical ratio. Subsistence increases only in an arithmetic ratio.

The letter 'A' is derived from an ancient proto-Semitic character and an earlier Egyptian hieroglyph that depicts the head and horns of an ox...
Moo!

Except for Aquinas and the Bible, Descartes almost never read a word. He called the classics a waste of time.

Trouble springs from idleness, and grievous toil from needless ease.
Punishing the Slothful: Punishment in Hell for the Deadly Sin of Sloth is to be Thrown into a Snake Pit; 1496, in Le grant kalendrier des Bergiers.

How many folks who read this cartoon when it was originally published can read it now?

I'd be so pissed off that I wouldn't be able to type a coherent, grammatical statement.
