Looks like the Mavericks are going to help Bulls get Pau Gasol. Reports that the Bulls are trading Center Greg Smith to Dallas to dump cap space for Gasol. Dallas gets a 23 year old
6'10 big body player. Hopefully he can be a good backup for Dallas

Haven't seen any numbers on what Gasol is getting in Chicago. Anybody else?
Will be sick if Ariza signed 8 and Gasol signs for less than 10. Sicker still if Rox match.

@ESPNSteinLine Mavericks will get Jefferson on a one-year minimum deal. Bargain signing after Jefferson completed his last contract in Utah
|
Hopefully this is to supplement Parsons and be done and not hedging our bets or starting to move on to plan-B.
I like the deal for 1-year min. Cuban not afraid to take advantage of guys thinking they are worth more but want to wait until 2015 when the cap could go up to 70-72mill
40% from three
10/3/1.6 from him last year
last earned 11mill

Well at least Richard Jefferson gives us shooting, hit 41% from 3 last year, signed for the minimum, 1 year deal
better shooter than Vince Carter last year.

I was just looking at free agent SFs and saw that Jefferson shot 40% from 3pt and played 27 minutes per game. Mavs need shooters... Maybe Tolliver later...

Great bargain deal. As I mentioned in the NBA FA signing thread, he had a surprisingly good year last season. Seems like the ideal VC replacement.

I would've preferred Caron Butler but not bad. But there goes any chance of Crowder getting serious minutes at backup SF

Not necessarily, just saying he won't see the floor much next season. But I kind of do wanna see what Crowder would do if given a decent amount of minutes.

Hey it doesnt make sense to me either. I think RJ is a solid player, and would be the perfect type of player Carlisle gets the most out of.

@MFollowill: Richard Jefferson shot 40.9% on 3s last yr in Utah, 3rd time in last 4 seasons >= 40% from 3. Here to provide shooting off bench at SF spot.

It's only a 1-year deal for a bench spot - any team would take that for minimum.
With Parsons (or Stephenson) on their way in, and guys like Calderon and Dalembert gone, youth movement still in full effect.

Chandler Parsons is 11 years younger than Marion (if we get him).
Jefferson is 3 years younger than VC.
Not leaps, but certainly an improvement.

Jefferson's a solid pickup at the vet min. Should fit on the roster regardless of whether Houston matches on Parsons. An Ellington role sounds about right to me.

@ESefko: Per source, it appears Shawn Marion is going to have better opportunities elsewhere and could be a former Maverick before midweek.
