Too bad there's a lottery - the Bobcats prove year after year that tanking is a shitty tactic.

Dry Powder plan is a horrible idea.. Yeah I was way off there....
Collison is a scrub... Off again...
Should tank this year because we are at best a 8 seed...... still be determined but I think we both know how this prediction will go.

At this rate, with the amount of people I now ignore, there's only going to be a handful of people I will see on here.

Other ideas you had:
- Pass on Dwight Howard to chase two restricted free agents, one who will most definitely be matched, just because we wasted a week (the same amount of time we'd have to wait for RFAs teams to match) chasing Dwight Howard.
- If that doesn't work, tank.
Yeah, those are some "GM of the Year" quality ideas there, champ... Move the fvck over, Mark Cuban - oilfieldtrash is going to save the franchise!

Pass on Dwight Howard? Can you please quote this because I have never in my life typed those words?

The Mavs riding the mediocrity treadmill is a valid concern, but that's unlikely to change as long as Dirk remains on the roster. Because they want to surround him with the best team possible and unfortunately all they can build is a low seed right now.

Oh, so you mean we should waste a week chasing restricted free agents AFTER wasting a week chasing Dwight Howard, which would completely waste the first two weeks of free agency?
Even better idea!

Harris is 30, and probably a more impactful player than Ellis. Monta is a net negative in most situation. Maybe he could have changed that playing next to Dirk, but i guess it doesn't matter anymore. Hopefully we can fill the center position.

Yep totally agree tanking is a terrible idea.. The way nba draft is you have to get lucky to get the first pick even with the worst record. Bobcats still horrible, wizards still horrible, kings, it goes on. Tanking is not the answer. There are success stories but much more failures.

Too bad this happens to be the year where there are at least 4 franchise guys available. Hell I'd bring back Finley, Damp, and whatever former mav to ensure we'd be in the top 4.

Yeah, it's a shame that your analysis won't be embraced by the organization. It could, on the other hand, be used to supercharge a compost pile or two, which would make some flowers grow, and that's not so bad, is it?

We tank get prolly 20th-26th place cross fingers for draft maybe get a top 4 pick.. I'd much rather gather assets and continue building to become a desirable place for future free agents, if we get Bynum we could potentially be set at pg and center creating a place a superstar would love to go.

Read the latest tweets? If we miss on Bynum plan F is Dalembert.

I don't want to overdramatize missing on Bynum, as I'm sure his knees were the hang-up, but I will say that without Bynum, I fully agree (absent a big move or trade coming up) with nowhereman's assessment. The roster is pretty crappy.

This team is a 5-7 seed. We're at least in the playoffs again. This is (soft) rebuilding and going from a missed playoff birth to playoffs ain't too bad. We bet everything on a superstar and lost. Then we wagered on a guy that could potentially become a superstar again but who is plagued by injuries and bad attitude.

Playoffs yes, but 7-8 is the ceiling. OKC, MEM, SA, LAC, GSW, HOU easily better and MIN has potential with all their key players healthy.

Mullens can spread the floor better and rebounds stronger than Kaman. That's for sure.

Anyone else for playing the young guys and seeing what they have? At the deadline unload Calderon, Harris, and Dirk for as much as we can get. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

No it isn't. An offseason is what it is. To predict otherwise is a lesson in futility.

All right no Bynum=more powder. (Not sure if serious?) Best thing they can do is keep some flexibility to absorb a contract if an overpaid player attached to young talent and/or picks comes available.
One flaw with last years powder plan, to me at least, was not having a cushion to absorb Speights/Elllington/Selby from Grizz for a future 1st(edit:while staying under the cap. for the right deal I'm sure they'd be willing to go over). They were only a Mike James or 3 away if my memory serves. Speights as predicted opted out and the other two came off the books. Obviously we'd be hoping for something a little more needle moving i.e. Cousins or Rondo, etc.

Ok... I am simply disgusted.... Not that I was completely sold on Bynum. But the simple fact that our only center is SARGE and Bynum is high risk, high reward.... We can't catch a break.
.... Literally no one wants to be here. I can see Dalembert going to Indiana to back up Roy Hibbert and JERMAINE ONEAL. Who does Jermaine think he is turning us down?
Does anyone else feel like that average looking guy, great paying job, nice house, huge d***, kind and respectful, charming and romantic... Yes you get passed up for a meathead with a beiber looking face that has significant life issues?
I really dont know what to think at this point... I want our team to always do the best. And I want the most loyal human being in all of sports right now (Dirk) to have a chance to compete. It just seems year after year, big name after big name... we simply fail.
How are you guys feeling?

You have to make some of your own breaks. The Mavs pushed way too many of the wrong buttons and now they're completely an unattractive team.
