What Kiki is talking about is what Parcells would call progress stoppers.
But then again, in this case there is not a lot of progress to stop.

I'm comfortable with that timeline.

@espn_macmahon: If Mavs get Parsons, they'd have $2.7M cap-room exception and two minimum spots to fill. One min spot probably going to Sarge James.
@espn_macmahon: If Mavs don't get Parsons, they'll have $14.7M in cap space, $2.7M exception, two minimum spots and a massive problem.

@espn_macmahon: If Parsons plan falls in place, Mavs likely offer Mo Williams the $2.7M slot. Not sure if he accepts it. Don't know his other options.

Recent: One of the supposed advantages/benefits bandied about of pursuing Parsons (25) or Stephenson (23) over Deng (29) or Ariza (29): youth. Or the alternative of going all in on a player like Gasol (34).
Also, Chandler (31) < Dalembert (33).
And yeah, actually, Jefferson (34) < Carter (37).
If Parsons comes through, I'll say the Mavericks have made a significant investment toward getting younger. If Richard Jefferson sees significant minutes in 2014 as a 3? Not so young.
Since 1980? While most people would just as soon not discuss it, that period after John MacLeod got fired, when Richie Adubato came in, and fans watched Adrian Dantley, Alex English, Rodney McCray fade into oblivion, seeing them replaced more or less in succession with Randy White, Jim Jackson, and Jamal Mashburn.

Ok now that Parsons is a Mav, can we move Wright in a deal for another big man or another PG?

Teams that keyed in on Dirk and Ellis... It's going to be incredible to see what the Parsons consistent output of offense does to the offensive flow and affects other teams' game plan. He shoots the 3 well and can't be slept on and he can drive it pretty well and moves with activity even without the ball, that's beautiful and makes the chess game for Rick ...just perfection. Let's bring in another shooter and a backup for dirk and we'll be in the groove

Feeling it.
Add Mo. Would still love to see Felton/Wright result in a PG upgrade and another backup 4.

Team is really coming together.
Chandler/Wright/Smith/James
Dirk
Parsons/Jefferson/Crowder
Ellis/???/Ledo
Harris/Felton/Mekel
13 guys on the roster. Mo would make it 14. Room for one development guy (Griffin?)

Why do we need a 4th/5th PG? Why would we trade a big man for a big man?

I think the idea is to upgrade Felton.

Parsons is a FAR cry from Carmelo/Dwight but it's worked (thanks to Dirk's sacrifice).
I grade the whole body of post-championship transactions to be a B-/C+ with this signing.
2012 = F
2013 = C+
2014 = A-
I think that comes out to B-/C+

ellis signing alone makes it a b- at least, not to mention jose who ended up getting flipped for chandler.

Yeah, I can see the argument for B-. The Jose signing was meh, I think we were happy to move Jose once we got Monta and saw how he fit. We also lucked a bit into Ellis. It's worked out for this year (netting Tyson) but last year was a bit lucky.

He hasn't officially signed yet, but the more reliable sources are leaning toward 3/9.

Wouldn't mind signing Mo Will and A Harrington (if still available) to fill out the roster.
Not sure what Harrington has left but he's only 34 and gives RC the option to stretch the floor in certain situations.
Is Parsons capable of playing PF?

Much prefer a 25 year old Parsons at 15 per to a 30 year old Anthony at 22 per. Not even close.

I'm wondering if Dallas will try to make a play for an amnestied Boozer. If they can line up a salary dump for Wright, for example, they could put off signing Dirk and make a bid if he gets let go. (I wouldn't put off signing Devin. I'd get that done, and quickly.)

Fair enough but it wasn't the Mavericks' first option. Nor would it have been 22 per.
