I honestly don't see a way he matches.
The two most likely scenarios are Capela is fodder for getting Lebron or Rockets blow it up.

Hey guys so this is my first post on this forum. Just wanted to say, it was awesome reading yalls posts. About the Mavs, I think Bamba is going top 3. After the article from the Ringer displaying the kind of work ethic he has; the report he ran faster than Westbrook and Wall; and his new looking jumpshot, Bamba is locked top 3. My guess our pick comes down to J3 (nickname I love btw) or MPJ.
1. Phoenix - Ayton (skipping all other workouts)
2. Sacramento - Bagley (getting the best offensive front court player)
3. Atlanta - Bamba (biggest riser; highest upside)
4. Memphis - Doncic (want to win now)
5. Dallas - Porter Jr (need to replace Dirk's prime scoring; possibly try to sign Cousins in FA)
PG - DSJ/JJB
SG - Matthews/Curry/2nd round draft pick
SF - Barnes/McDermott
PF - Porter Jr/Dirk
C - Cousins/Powell/Motley
Just my two cents. What yall think?

Oh and I'm on the Bamba hype train. Sign me up for that! My dream scenario is Bamba and trade for Bradley Beal.

Welcome aboard!!!
You picked a good place for some high spirited Mavs talk.
I pretty much agree with the top 4 picks being Ayton/Bagley/Bamba/Doncic but not sure about the order. I think Doncic and Bagley will go 2 and 4 but it is basically a 50/50 toss up as to which is which.
I do think Porter will be our pick but must say I'd probably prefer Jackson if it comes down to those two.

I'm pulling for a long, healthy Mavericks career for MPJ.
But just to reiterate what was said earlier, I supported Satnam Singh. Maybe not entirely in a good way, but I was happy to watch him plod up and down the court.

I get .05 cents every time anyone uses J3. Although I would rather have Porter, I could retire from royalties in 20 years if we draft JJJ

But they were a CP injury away from likely winning it. Why wouldn't they just run it back? Unless Cliff is going to Lakers to join Lebron. Doubtful though.

IF the Rockets are healthy AND the Warriors were just as unhealthy and filled with drama.
The likelihood of Paul being healthy and Thompson/Iggy being injured is pretty slim. Paul is always injured and is going to turn 34 during the playoffs.
Plus, Rockets are making a push for LeBron. They’ve already been shopping around.

Im pretty sure Bamba would prefer Dallas over pretty much over Suns, Kings, Hawks and grizzlies.
My dream scenario is Bamba & Gordon (even overpaid, i dont care). This would be such an athletic fun team....

Doesn't matter where Bamba wants to go. If he gets drafted by one of those teams he is SOL.

He can say he'd demand a trade if he goes there.
Kobe did it
Kiki did it
Doncic may do it
Wilkins and Stevie Francis did it
Don't think Mo would be that dumb or if he has the clout, but its possible.

Bamba doesn’t really make sense in Memphis with Gasol still there... I could see a mutual disinterest expressed between their FO and his agent.

Hawks are our #1 enemy if we want Bamba.
Player and teams most interested IMO
Ayton - Suns (all you need since they're taking him)
Bagley - Grizz, Magic, Kings
Young - Hawks, Magic
Bamba - Hawks, Mavs
Doncic - Kings, Grizz, Mavs
Porter - Mavs, Grizz, Bulls, Cavs
Jackson - Hawks, Mavs
With Schroder leaving, they're equally as desperate for a PG as they are for a C. I could see them deciding between Young and Bamba.

Why is Schroder suspected to be leaving? I can only tolerate reading so much about Atlanta before I go cross eyed and have a mini stroke. Imo, they could draft Trae Young and move Dennis over to SG. That would bolster their offense quite a bit with two guys that can get wherever they want with the ball and it would relieve some pressure off Dennis handling the offense. Seems like they could easily roll with Bazemore, Collins and *Dedmon rounding out their lineup and that would be better than chasing another SG this offseason.

Although he didn't explicitly demand a trade, Schroder said he "cannot be second to last in the Eastern Conference" during the prime of his playing career, per Hein. After finishing fifth in the East in 2016-17, they slipped to last in 2017-18 after posting a 24-58 record.
|
Dude has basically said he doesnt want to be in Atlanta and has met with them to try to get a trade to Pacers or Bucks.

Schroeder has been inconsistent from 3 would be the issue with he and Trae. Not that he is some sort of transcendent star or anything but it still boggles the mind(!) that we took Larkin over so many useful players, Schroeder included.
He's pretty ball dominant but may be interesting on the Pacers. Maybe Bud would know how to use him in Mil.? Bledsoe is a bad basketball player and I bet they'll do what they can to move him

Nick Angstadt, from Mavsmoneyball, compared J3 with Karl Anthony-Towns on the Locked On Mavs podcast. He stated both players were used poorly by their college coaches and they put up similar numbers in college. TBH, I don't want J3, but that gives me hope that J3 can be more than a glorified role player.

I'm not sold on JJJ's BBIQ, but his skillset is undeniable. If he can rebound, then I'm down.

JJJ is the guy I'd be least excited about in the top 6-7. Followed by Bagley, who at least has star potential if he puts it all together. I like Zach Collins better than JJJ

I wonder if Nick is reading this board? I posted the same thing last week...

Zach Collins of Portland? Jeez, that seems kinda harsh. I'm not crazy about JJJ, but I definitely think he'll be better than Collins.

My final top 5 wish list for the Mavs assuming Porter Jr medical was nothing but positive:
1. Ayton
2. Doncic
3. Porter Jr
4. Bagley
5. J3
6. Bamba
Toss up with the last 3. Like others have mentioned, as soon as we pick him I will immediately become fan biased 100%. I'm not as high on Bamba because I watched every UT game last year (live in austin). He had a stretch where he was dominate, but more often than not seemed completely out of it offensively. Will the game slow down for him? Will he get stronger? I'm sure he can and will, but it's enough to give J3 the edge imo.
Right now I think that there is a good chance we see quite abit of shakeup draft night.

So is Woj gonna give away the picks again before they are announced, or will we only find out when Silver announces them?

Quick Mock
1) PHX - D. Ayton
2) SAC - M. Bagley
3) ATL - T. Young (desperate to fill seats)
4) MEM - L. Doncic (fits in perfect)
5) DAL - M. Porter Jr. (with the proverbial *if healthy* designation)
6) ORL - M. Bamba
7) CHI - JJJ (upside too high to pass on here, despite similarities to Lauri)
8) CLE - C. Sexton (a bit of a reach, but they will buy out George Hill and rebuild)
9) NYK - W. Carter Jr. (they avoid paying Kanter)
10) PHI - Mik. Bridges (easy call for them)
11) CHA - Mil. Bridges (allows them to try to shed MKG, Batum, or Williams.)
12) LAC - L. Walker (betting on upside)
13) LAC - S. Gilgeous-Alexander (see above)
14) DEN - K. Knox (hard to pass up his potential here)
15) WAS - Z. Smith (hustler/ defender for a team known for being soft)
16) PHX - J. Evans (good glue piece for a team that will need hustle/ leadership)
17) MIL - R. Williams (solves one of the Bucks biggest problems)
18) SAS - K. Huerter (Spurs desperate for some consistent spacing)
19) ATL - D. DiVencenzo (looking for perimeter scoring)
20) MIN - S. Milton (they need someone to handle the rock)
21) UTA - L. Shamet (Jazz go with the versatile floor spacer)
22) CHI - G. Trent Jr.
23) IND - E. Okobo
24) POR - M. Robinson
25) LAL - D. Musa
26) PHI - K. Thomas
27) BOS - J. Brunson (prepping for departures of Smart and Rozier)
28) GS - C. Hutchinson
29) BKN - J. Okogie
30) ATL - O. Spellman
