Geez, if Randolph is the other player, then there will not be a deal. Randolph is now the future of the Warriors, he's been in the facility for the past month or so and has put on 20 pounds.

could have been our backcourt right now. We traded Harris and rights to the 21st pick, well the 22nd was Courtney Lee. Then we also could have used Diops MLE for Pietrus and we would look like a pretty deep team right now.

I heard he was still growing. Put on another inch. The kid's like 19 or 20.

Who do they have on their bench? Gortat is basically gone, Battie and Lee and Alston are gone, and Pietrus is going to have to start if Hedo isn't resigned, like it sounds like is probably.
Their starting 5 is insane, but it doesn't seem to me like their bench is very deep at all. Ryan Anderson replaces Gortat, but their next best bench player is JJ Redick.

Ok so Kaman is still a possibility. I just wonder still now who would be our SG target at this point? Yall all know Im a homer for Baron Davis... I do believe he would be our best option at guard out there at this point. Terry+Stack+S.Williams would get it done. Then at the trade deadline we'd have the Damp chip.

Shaq was the back up back up plan.
The back up plan is to do nothing.
The original plan is to do nothing.
Doing nothing wins.

I'm with you. But then we should've traded Kidd for the 2 of them assuming that rumor was true. It's one of the few options we have left.

use Vet Min and MLE. There will be people who want to play on that team for a shot at a ring. plus Anthony Johnson isn't a bad backup PG

What is the direction the Bucks are going in? Do they plan on contending next season? I imagine in the East they could. They actually could every season with their roster. The reason I ask, is if they plan on going in a younger direction i'd like to believe Mike Redd is out there? But I haven't even heard rumors of him being available.

Now that they dumped Jefferson for nothing, I don't think they'll contend.

They need to get a good player through their MLE so they can strengthen their bench. But if they can't (which is possible, because each of their starters, except Hedo, have huge contracts), they will be relying a lot on their draft pick to be a productive player.

What's so special about a backcourt of Devin and Lee? Sure, they may be fun to watch--but nothing about that tandem screams "championship-caliber" to me. Isn't that what we only care about?

It's funny how all the players we've been mentioning in trade scenarios on this message board is actually getting dealt... and the Mavericks have not even been remotely involved in any of the deals.
Richard Jefferson
Shaq
Vince Carter
We also frequently referred to Chris Kaman and Gerald Wallace, so we'll see if those names get dealt in the next few weeks.

The list getting scary short for us:
Redd: Huge contract and injury prone, comes back from a major injury
Kaman/Davis/Camby: as told
Hamilton: Could be..
JRich: Now with the Wallace-Chandler rumor it doesnt look like blowing up, so dont know if they dump him
Marion: S&T
Chandler: I dont want him
Crash: Maybe? But you hear nothing about cuts in Charlotte

Maybe the VC trade makes it easier for us to sign Gortat

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to alby again.
Nope, we are too the point of change for change sake. No plan, let's just get a name, not talent or a plan for it, just a name and do something.
I can see Antoine Walker coming here as the savior again.

The list is so scary short that one can't help but think we have nothing or next to nothing to look forward to. If it's essentially the same team back next season i personally won't waste anymore time watching. I live in NY and it's sometimes costly financially(going to a bar to watch them play OKC!),emotionally and time-wise. It's almost time to hope for Dirk to be traded somewhere where he has a shot.

It screams "young" and "has potential".
But your right. For our Mavs, right now, that would not be an ideal backcourt. We'd be wasting years of Dirk's prime by developing them.

Lamar Odom skills and his desire to come in to the facility in the offseason speaks volumes. This was a guy who got tough love from Nellie early on, could turn out to be a top player in his draft class.

Agreed. Now he just needs to learn how to prevent 6'2" SG from posterizing him...

With the moves forward, they will get a few of those minimum salaried players. Joe Smith, McDyess, Barnes. And possibly players who were bought out recently. There are a lot of options to fill out the bench...it's too bad we're using our bench to fill out the starting spots.

And while we're all feeling gloomy it should be pointed out that if Dirk(god bless him!)doesn't rush back from his injury we probably miss the playoffs and pick... Anthony Randolph!

Jason Kidd has no reason to come back to the Mavs....why would Kidd come back someone tell me?...oh and Donnie needs to be fired on the spot when Cuban see's him because I'm getting sick of that joke of a GM Donnie, I starting to think Donnie is doing he's father dirty work by by not helping the Mavs get better at all.

If Jason Richardson is available, I'd grab him. He was a 22 ppg 40% 3pt shooter in 07-08, and although his stats declined slightly in Phoenix, the guy is only 28. Who wouldn't take him? However, there is the slight problem that he might not be available. Heh. Slight problem indeed. But if he was, I think he's similar to Jefferson and Carter.

The Mavericks don't have an official GM. Cuban said so in Bill Simmon's podcast.
They should have gotten one, like, yesterday.
Good point about Kidd though. I can't imagine him not taking this stuff into account.
