How can we be the favorites to sign anyone when FA hasn't started yet? It's absolutely amazing how bad tampering is now.

That's my point. Not sure what anyone expects the mavs to say other than what they have.
DHWS has a valid point about how this team has brought back guys from the past as well as loyalty to a fault at times. I just dont see them ever saying anything different either way

Me either....I think I made a post earlier in this thread about the Celtics getting him when they already had at the time Robert Williams and Tristan Thompson....
What I like most about him though.....

Reading a few posts from Celtics fans.....they loved the Richardson trade until Brown got involved lol.
I honestly didn't expect to get anything in return for Richardson.

We can have all the Browns

Well he's a dirt cheap 3rd center with development upside so that's nice.

J-Rich for a TPE/Cap space is already a good trade.
Also getting Moses Brown and a second-round pick is just delish

Moses, Sterling etc are nice grabs. Finally different eyes in the FO. And a cap expert.
Sign Lowry, resign THJ. I know most hate that thj move, but if they can secure Lowry, 1 in hand is worth 2 in the bush regarding THJ.
That would be suffice for me. Not asking for the moon here.
Luka, Lowry, THJ, KP is a top 3 seed.

Brown is super young (going into his third year) and barely 21 but he REALLY started to take off when he was playing next to Poku. Trying to find stats, but their chemistry was solid. I could see Luka making this kid into a solid contributor.

Love the deal though if at worst case scenario he's a rebounder? He would still be underpaid. Really impressed with the Mavs getting this done.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.....Mavs fans may need to come to grips that at some point in this offseason THJ is going to be the best you can do on the free agency market. If you're being realistic.
Contract-wise can they sign Hardaway and bring in Lowry?

Only way we can clear the room for Lowry and THJ though is finding someone to take Powell or Kleber I think without taking salary back. I hate the idea of THJ at 20m a lot less then I hate lowry bidding war with NOP for 30 personally. We would be better adding Lowry to the team but ugh he is so not a 30m player if this free agent class wasn't so thin. Just feels like a deal we would regret in a year or 2 and become possibly untradeable. Another Love, Wiggins, Walker type of deal is what I fear and we already have a monster deal in KP that is considered immovable.

Source says Mavs are leaning toward picking up center Willie Cauley-Stein's $4.1 million option for next season. Deadline is Sunday and Mavs are waiting to see if situation unexpectedly materializes to make that cap space worth parting with a big man they like.

They’d have to find someone to take on at least Powell to clear space, probably Klebs too.

I want so bad to see him on the team without Carlisle to see if he can really do it. I still believe he can be a solid 16 min contributor.

An asset like Lowry would never be untradeable. We have to acquire assets and get away from 1 year deals.

Mavs got Moses Brown in the J-Rich trade. Wow, he is actually a really good young prospect and killed it for OKC. On a huge value contract too.

Ehh I disagree personally. If he falls to 15ppg on mediocre shooting numbers 30m a yr would be hard to move at his age especially. If he gets small minor injuries it would be worse. That can happen with any player but at his age it gets amplified.
Well I'm more interested in what Derozan does personally. After the RWB trade is he really going to still go to Lakers for exception level money around 6ish mill? Over getting 30m with other borderline contenders? I keep reading he really wants to be a laker... That spacing would be atrocious with RWB DDR Lebron AD. It would be the definition of betting on talent winning over fit.

I really don't get keeping WCS unless they use him differently. We need impact players.

Yeah....going to have to find someone to value him....I think he can be productive for a team I just don't know if that team would be willing to pay his cost.

I guess the idea is 4m for an athletic big who fits pnr offense and plays solid d is money well spent. I agree with it but I think it makes more sense if we can move off Powell.
I still think Indiana is a legit spot for Powell if you pair it with Brunson. They have a glut of wing players and a few matchup rly well salary wise with Powell. Rick loves Powell. And they have TJ McConnell as a free agent so Brunson on a rookie contract would be great for them I think as a backup to Brogdon.

Its worth noting that people said the same thing about Al Hortford and Chris Paul when they got their deals....and they've both been traded TWICE since those deals.
I think its been proven teams will do it. If its a 3 year deal..that will only be a 2 year contract that someone has to trade for.

I think the hope is to play him differently but also he's a asset. Not a great one but he's someone on a friendly deal that you maybe can ship out or have him apart of a deal.

I really like the Moses Brown acquisition, especially considering I wasn't expecting to get anything at all back for Richardson. He's raw but he's got the tools and put up some pretty solid raw numbers. Great developmental big. I bet he would be great lob threat for Luka.
