Win or lose, it's great to see Kobe out there sweating and getting riled up enough to get techs in a meaningless game, while his three peers are resting comfortably on the bench.
The Lakers are supposed to be the "flip the switch" team, and I'm fairly sure they don't think they need HCA to beat the Mavs, so one has to wonder what the heck they are doing working so hard to beat a bunch of scrubs and risking injury.

Spurs fifth string hangin' tough against the Lakers. Man, if LA loses this one, they are done...nobody's going to be afraid of them.

If you guys think the Lakers are seriously trying to tank to avoid Portland, and lose freaking HCA, you need to put down the crackpipe.

If the Lakers win out they will be the 2nd seed, with the Blazers being the 6th for sure now. I don't see how tanking helps them avoid the Blazers.

I'm saying they wouldn't regardless of Portland.

i guess they could tank both games and go for the 4th seed?
cause that would make sense...
did anyone really say they were tanking, lol. you don't play and injure starters when you tank

I didn't say they were. I said, I'm not sure.
What's an easier road:
Home court in the first round against NOR and then on the road against Dallas
or
Home court in the first round against the much tougher Blazers, and then at home against Dallas.
If Dallas is as bad as (most people here) say they are, maybe they'll be an easy enough out that it's worth it to take them on the road if it means getting the much easier Hornets in the first round.
And the NBA doesn't reseed does it? LA could have home court in the 2nd round regardless if Portland knocks Dallas out.

But not if Dallas beats Portland. There's no way they'd risk HCA.

Don't count SAC out, yet. No Barnes, Blake or Bynum... it's a back to back for the Lakers... and it's probably the last home game at Arco.

Maybe not. But didn't the Spurs just risk HCA (in a later round) tonight by tanking against the Lakers to avoid them (in an earlier round)?

Well let's just see what happens tomorrow. With the injuries piling up on LA and the fact it's a sentimental game for SAC, we could still get the two seed if Mavs can take care of business.

Well in The Finals is a bit farther out, so I think risking it in round 2 is less likely. But still, yes, I am a bit surprised that Pop rested all of his starters considering Chicago won.

F it. Mavs play who they play. I'm ready to get started.

So the Mavs might have to battle with the Blazers and the Spurs might have to battle with Memphis then the Lakers get the Hornets...Stern wouldn't want it any other way.

So we need a win over the Hornets and the Lakers to lose to the Kings to take #2 seed?

We'll end up with either Portland or New Orleans. Depending on if the Lakers will win. Memphis will tank 8th and Oklahoma won't move up to the Lakers bracket I guess. They've beaten Denver two times now recently and Karl has given them an invitation to beat them.
So it will come down to this.

My Blazer fan friend just ordered a red man suit http://begreenman.com/Purchase.html for the playoffs. I'm going to buy a blue man suit, find him in the crowd and start a fight with him. Guaranteed to get on the broadcast and guaranteed Chuck would say something hilarious about it.

One little known fact: had the Kings managed to beat the Lakers on the last day of the '07 season, the Lakers would have dropped to 8th and the Warriors fiasco would have never happened.
