RE: Official Game 6 thread: Dallas @ Houston
The second half will be a war--I do expect a war--of attrition. If Dirk can continue to get to the line, we should be okay. I would be happy if he never shoots another fadeaway over Bowen or McGrady.
If Stack can stay hot, he needs to play 18 minutes this next half. He is clearly our best offensive option at this point. When it comes to turnaround jumpers, I would a LOT rather have Stack shooting them than Dirk. Dirk is simply not very good at that shot right about now. I hate to say it, but he's not. In this offense that we're running, he is useful for only two things: get fouled or pass to an open man on the perimeter. He's not very good at the latter, and he hasn't had much luck at the former.

RE:Official Game 6 thread: Dallas @ Houston
Disturbing trend as others have stated...Rockets out running getting layups off of LAZY MAVS PASSING DIRK THE PUSS seems to have shown back up...settling for "tinkerbell" jumpers afraid to go draw contact and get to the FT line....
MAVS have to quit settling for jumpshots...while bringing back the layup drills right down the gut on the other end.....LACKADAISICAL 2nd quarter by the Mavs has given the rockets a ton of confidence & momentum.....nobody on the Mavs wants to take the ball out of bounds...Terry's standing back there waiting for somebody to pull their head out of their ass and get with the program was just an exclaimation mark on the lackluster effort by the Mavs to waste a 10 point lead....

Let's get small ball going.
Mavs might have thought Game 6 was in the bag, I'm sure the 2Q (and Coach J) are waking them up. Let's wrap it up tonight.

In this series, has a Rockets player (besides Yao and Bowen) ever made a shot without a face or hand gesture afterwards?

Chuck's right. Dirk's not taking the ball to the basket, he's shooting those fadeaways again.
|
So what is Dirk's game under Avery? Isn't it one on one with fadeaways and drives to the hoop? Well, the refs don't want make calls when Dirk bulldozes his way to the hoop. So Dirk needs to take more long shots to spread the floor for the other guys. Dirk has killed Houston in the past with long range shooting. Why not reintroduce this to Dirk?

Sounds like Armstrong will get the minutes over Harris tonight if James continues to light us up.

I'm surprised they've put Howard on McGrady with his 3 fouls.

Can't argue too much with Sura's play there. Howard has taken two cheap shots on Yao already. Sura is sort of being the opposing pitcher who drills a batter to send a message.

What a great effort by Dirk on defense and rebounding in the 3rd quarter.

I'm so happy to see Dampier making an impact out there. His best game in this series.

Sura should be ejected for that bullshit! He's such a trashy player! The fake triple double last season, takling a player...for no reason! It wasn't like JHo went for a layup where Houston was outnumbered, it was just Sura being trashy.

Hahaha... He has been, hasn't he (banging around for and inhaling close-to-the-basket rebounds, getting weird Tarpleyesque lateral swipe-blocks on taller players)? And thankfully Damp has been looking a bit more James Donaldson-like tonight, than we've thus far seen him be in this series...

some nice recognition by the Mavs finding FIN in good scoring situtations....nice 2 big men stopping Yao and controlling the defensive boards which has them running back on the rockets....GOOD JOB!!!!!
just have to get Josh and Dirk to not force bad shots....

I've honestly given up on that part. If Dirk can keep make those defensive plays, I think the others can contriute enough offensively.
Dirk, that was a dumb foul on TMAC.
