Yeah, you consider where the team is drafting at. But, moving down 46 slots for a next year's number one is still a shaky proposition--particularly for a team that is trying to compete THIS year rather than being in rebuilding mode.
In other words, we probably do need to get some contribution this year out of that #22 pick.

im thrilled with the trading day so far. dont get stupid and give anything back. i honestly prefer jarrett to meachem anyway so id prefer to just stay where we are. if we get lucky we could get grubbs or blalock AND jarrett. that would be the perfect draft.

I actually think it was probably a win-win trade. Cleveland got a QB that they believed was a top 5 pick in value... and they got the selection that they had already made. Not a bad deal for them.

I gagree. Especially since Cleveland moved up to get a QB, which in effect shortened the franchise's development time by one year. (As opposed to drafting a franchise QB with that #1 next year.)

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. For a team that really needs a QB, this trade isn't bad if they feel Brady is the real deal.

Imagine if we didn't have Romo in place. Boy, don't you know WE would have been the ones moving up as Quinn began to slide?
Thank God for Tony Romo.

the problem is its fairly clear that the rest of the league doesnt view him as a franchise qb. (not that they should make their decisions based on what others view him as)
i am so freakin excited right now

Great deal by the Cowboys. What are the chances of the Browns being a playoff team next year with a rookie starting qb, rookie offensive tackle and two young prospects in Winslow and Braylan? Especally in the division there in. I'm a little shocked the Cowboys got so much. I thought at most we could get this year's 2nd and 3rd but never I would've thought next years 1st. No way in hell you can pass that up. I know the Chiefs feel like shit.

How far did Roethlisberger slide a couple years ago? Leinart went down to #9, wasn't it?

I don't agree 5-0. I think a bunch of teams would have loved to have picked him up.. But, they were either set at QB or financially tied to a QB ...regardless of whether or not they believed in who they had.
And Blalock redeemed himself.

i think the chiefs are probably the reason we got this deal done. Without them behind us, i dont think we would have had the leverage to demand this much.

Oh i think some teams would have liked him but if there were other teams that viewed him as a franchise qb they would have found a way to move up and get him.
Then again the more i think about it maybe not. Im guessing they probably offered this to one of the other teams and if they declined it then those other teams were just stupid.

I've never seen a draft like this where about 20 teams didn't need a qb. The Browns were really the only team I was shocked at that past up on Quinn and they came back and got him. Every team now is going to free agency to get their quarterback or already has one in development.

Moving up doesn't come cheap as you've seen. Perhaps most teams that needed a QB just had too many holes to justify moving up for the QB regardless of how great he is.

They've just spent a grip on Culpepper. I think they're atleast going to give him another chance. Worst case scenario is they play horrible and get in the lottery again next year. Unless he leads them to a 8-8 record and that can be a problem.

Yep, that's the one major team that you can look and think that they passed up a possible franchise QB ..but, because of what they had already invested in Culpepper, they just couldn't pull the trigger.

The word is Culppers is done in Miami. Apparently they're close to trading for Trent Green.

Yeah, that's what I've heard on the Ticket and on a couple of other news outlets.. But, I'm not sure that I buy that Culpepper won't be given a shot to compete..

Really? Culpepper is done because of his injury or because MIA doesn't want anything to do with him? Or is this a trade head up for each other?

The ticket played the audio of Dallas making the trade with Cleveland. You heard Jerry Jones and the Cleveland guy finalizing the deal.
