Man, this is really something.
I'm really happy for African-Americans and everybody who ever believed and wanted color to not be an issue in politics, in government and in life. We're still not perfect and the heart of racism still beats but it's a remarkable step that will shape history.

Its a beautiful moment. The greatest day in my life time. I'm more proud of the young voters as well. I'm amazed they came out to vote this year. Everyone doubted Obama and the young voters and they both got it done.

That's certainly right, about Clinton. And as Mavdog mentioned, it will probably be Obama's biggest challenge (to keep his party in check). I would guess that Obama has learned from that history, though. He certainly doesn't seem to be the kind of guy to leave stones unturned. Even the transition thing. I know that it was derided as "measuring the drapes." But I think to Obama it was just another thing to be prepared for. Evidently he is already on track with his transition, which Clinton was not. Clinton's transition was terrible. Clinton and Carville were great at winning elections, but they weren't immediately prepared to lead thereafter. I think Obama learned from that, and I think he will be.
Now, that doesn't necessarily mean that his leadership will be a very profitable thing for us. That remains to be seen. But I think he has his head screwed on right.

I agree. Just an amazing story. You couldn't even come up with a better Hollywood script. I don't think people understand how great this is for the black community. I remember growing up and everyone wanting to be a basketball player or a football player. Just to get out of the hood. And you see a Harvard graduate that's a black man become president. You're now gonna have students try harder and work more on studies than with a basketball to become a Harvard graduate. Something honestly I thought would never happen. Definately in my lifetime. This is a great day for this country. For the world.

Dtownsfinest,
I'm very happy for my black friends and some of the peace all blacks may get from this but it is a great day for the world, not just Africans or African-Americans. I still haven't seen someone of my skin/color make it to the Oval Office and it might not happen in my lifetime but I believe it can happen now.
It can happen for a Latino kid.
It can happen for a Japanese kid.
An Indian.
A Native American.
Middle Eastern.
It can happen in Europe now.
It can happen in South America.
This is phenomenal.

This is truly a Sad day in America.
The election of Obama is also a vote for racism.
Yes it is great to see certain cultures voting for other cultures, but the racism is about one culture only voting for one culture.
We can only Pray that Obama doesn't accomplish half of the ill advised leftist agenda that he has planned.
My apologies folks, this is not about White's being racist, but rather about Blacks being racist. It's truly a sad state and is the complete Nightmare that MLK was worried about, this is not a dream...but again a nightmare.
Duty, Honor, Country have now been destroyed...it is time for Conservatives and Freedom loving Americans to rise up, stand up to the Liberal Tyranny taking place.
My apologies, but I am angry tonight and I have absolutely no trust whatsoever for the Liberal/Socialist taking over our nation. They have a long way to go to gain the trust of myself and the other half of America.
2010, and it's time to rise up with a new Conservative revolution...build the momentum to take back over with the majority in 2012.
Again, I can only Pray that the damage from tonight will be minimized in the coming years!!!

ooohhkay, don't you think race had a huge impact on this election? I'm sure it's the opposite... many, many African Americans voted for Obama simply because he's black.. and probably the same except for the white thing with McCain.
I wish the best for Obama. I don't believe he's a good man. I think quite the opposite. I do believe that America will look back and think "what in the hell were we thinking." But, he will be our president, so I hope he proves me wrong. I don't wish for failure of anyone that is put in place to make difficult decisions for our country. Once elected, I wish them nothing but the best. I suppose that's the good part of me not really having a party affiliation.

Something similar happened with Hillary. It's amazing how different things get when the gloves go back on. I remember thinking that if the Hillary of the campaign had been the Hillary of the concession speech, the result may have been different.

It wasn't 100% you idiot. Is that what Faux News told you? And it doesn't matter. Every black person in america could've voted for Obama and he still wouldn't have won. It took more than one race to win this election.

I was so moved and happy, not for a democrat, not for a president but for a man and for an entire race.
Now I'm just pissed off because of 92bDad's ignorance. I honestly don't know how someone can grow up with those sorts of ideals.

Yeah, if anything this election showed me how much racial tension there still is in this country. But maybe now that Obama is elected, the country will head in the right direction.
Stuff I saw tonight kinda disturbed me though.
