A repeat of the Young incident just happened in Minny.
Ump missed a strike three call and Lance Berkman yanked the next pitch for a tie-breaking RBI double. Twins manager gets tossed.
But there are no outs, so it's not as significant.

Also not as significant because they got 1 run from it and we got 3.

Dear Rays fans,
How about your team scores 2 runs? Then we'll talk about runs 3, 4 and 5 by the Rangers.
That said, Saturday is going to be tough for the hitters. I predict a Sunday clinch. Big game Tommy Hunter FTW

check out the replay of CJ striking out Shoppach looking... Shoppach of course "can't believe it" but if you watch CJ, he kind of waves in that direction, like waving goodbye lol.

Well, Cliff's performance only lasted lass than one day as the best of the playoffs. Now it's the 3rd best.

IMO CJ's was better than Cliff's, despite being two-thirds of an inning shorter.

I'll disagree there. Cliff had more strikeouts, less walks, and generally better control. Still, he did give up the homer..so I guess it's really close.

And don't forget the hits. Lee gave up 5 to CJ's 2.
But anyway, both were great and got the Rangers win. That's all that matters!

Anyone catch Mark Cuban's quote about the Rangers' playoff success thus far?
"It's great for everybody," Cuban said before his Mavericks' preseason game Thursday night. "Obviously, I’m like everybody else -- I hate the day-game starts. It's hard to get drunk and watch a Rangers game and then go back to work. Not impossible. Not for me, because I have a driver or I can get one if I need one."
LOL

Well, seeing how he played in the first playoff game for any team, I beat it was pretty easy to take that "best performance of the postseason" crown for at least a couple of hours. Price wasn't really in contention.

I will be nervous wreck all day if the only thing standing between us and a game five in Tampa is Tommy freaking Hunter.
I really need Colby to lock this thing down tomorrow.

Here's the deal on the check swing.. there really wasn't a good angle.. the only angle available was from a bit behind the parallel point of the bat and the front of home plate. It's usually called a strike if the batter breaks parallel

It looked like a strike to me...esp on the replay
Who cares, Rangers win.
Gonna be an interesting weekend for sport in DFW...
Ranger playoff game-Saturday
Mavs vs. Suns-Saturday
Cowboys vs Titan-Sunday
Probable Ranger playoff game-Sunday
Mavs vs Cavs-Monday

Too much has been made of the check swing thing...even if Young had been called out on the check swing, and even if Hamilton didn't follow with another hit, the Rays would have still needed to score more than 0 runs to have a chance at winning.
I think the reason the check swing is getting such run is because the alternative storyline thus far is, "Rangers kick Rays asses, again".
Or how about this for a story line -- Rays get runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out, strike out, stike out, routine fly ball.

The Rangers have totally dominated this series, and that should continue tomorrow at home. I agree about too much being made about the check swing...it wouldn't matter if they could put more than one run on the board in two games. Their offense is just terrible.

That's not really what I meant. Of course you're right, but that's not really what I meant.

I'm pretty sure it's still the best.
When the NL plays baseball my TV shows a color test.
Because it's more interesting than watching pitchers bat.

It's funny because it's true.
It's also funny because I have a buddy who says essentially the converse. He'll say, "Don't call Rangers games 'baseball games.' Baseball is a sport played by 8 fielders and a pitcher. Nobody else."
But he's a 'Stros fan. What would he know about what "baseball" looks like.

I briefly flipped on the first Giants game, only to see Lincecum step up to the plate with the clear intention of never swinging the bat. Dude stood straight up with the bat resting on his shoulder and didn't even step forward during the pitch delivery.
Still took five pitches to strike him out.

Are you all ready? Are you ready to see the Rangers celebrate on their field in about 3 hours from this moment now? Let's finish the Rays off now and set Lee back up to start the series with New York (very likely to advance). It's time.
