Not sure if linking another dallas forum is taboo so just let me know if it is. Here is where I saw the information today:

Seeems rather speculative. I just was fishing to see if anyone with contacts in here had any further information.

I wish Marion would just team up with us. We have a lot more extra cap now.

I'd be thrilled if we could bring Shawn back with the BAE with an opt-out after one year... then we could revisit contract talks next year. And bring Mo in at the league minimum/other available cap space.

With the extra cap space we just got, is there any way we could get Mo (MLE), Boozer and/or Marion? That'd be sweet

So the majority of people in that thread went from thinking 3/9 was a steal to thinking 4/16 is a terrible contract. Wow.
I'm perfectly fine with 4/16. But I'll be pretty surprised if that last year isn't either a team option or partially guaranteed.

4/16 is still pretty much a damn steal for Harris, particularly if the last year is a TO (which I agree with you is very likely).
*edit* Fish is still reporting, as recently as tonight, that Devin's deal is for $11.8M (which I assume would just be three years). Perhaps his information is omitting a fourth year team option. Or perhaps that Jazz reporter just got it wrong. Or...perhaps Fish got it wrong.

From my read of Fish's report I thought that ~$11.8M figure was the combined first-year salary for Dirk and Devin. Just curious if you're looking at the same thing and interpreting it differently, or if you're looking at a different report.

Just that same story. I'm re-reading that sentence, and I see now that clause is ambiguously worded. I actually think you're right and I misread it the first time. Write better, Fish. (Read better, Dub.)
So if $11.8M was the combined cap figure at the time, I guess the 3 yrs/$9M think is still feasible, but I'm with thiggy that 4 yrs/$16M with a TO makes the most sense.

Yes, that's correct. 11.9 is exactly what Devin and Dirk have to equal. (Fish did write it in a very confusing manner).
So Devin can start at 3.9, which is 3/12.2 or 4/16.6.

That's per Spears/Woj. One year deal.

Wow. What are we assembling? A 25-man roster?
Well, people wanted a backup PF with some range. Lewis has that.

Nice backup for dirk. He found his three pointer somewhat last year. Although he looked like garbage against spurs

Having Parsons and Tyson makes this sound great to work with. I'm not yet sold on Greg Smith getting big minutes. He still has a lot to prove. Lewis started in the finals this year and practically all the playoffs.
Just imagine an all out arsenal offense lineup of: Monta, Mo, Parsons, Dirk, and Lewis!

It's crazy that we built a roster this strong and we still have the stretch exception for #15

So the guys that used to flock to Miami for minimum are coming to Dallas now? What does that mean?

Signing Lewis indicates to me that Wright is on his way out.
Anyone else get that impression?

Can't speak for Dallas, but it says a lot about Miami. Bosh if great and all but when your second scorer is playing in a wheelchair league for 40games, you aren't a destination team.

Nah, I think it stashes Greg Smith at the end of the bench. He's got a lot of learning to do. Possibly Wright and Smith will be competing for playing time.

I just posed a similar question on Twitter. He might not be on his way out, but this move certainly doesn't mesh with the notion of him being Dirk's backup.

I like Lewis a lot actually, but my assumption would be that he's probably the 4th or 5th forward on the depth chart. He had a GREAT series in the playoffs (was it against Brooklyn? Indiana?) but the guy has not looked good at all since he left Orlando. Seems like the right guy to roll the dice on for the vet minimum, but I don't expect him to play meaningful minutes at all... unless there is a trade in the works, and if that's the case I sure hope it means that we're getting rid of Felton.

Who remembers when Rashard used to be explosive? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6kAB_beCW0
Those days are long gone but I hope he can be a sharpshooter for us off the bench.

Our bench is rounding out pretty nicely and will be very formidable.
PG- Harris
SG- Crowder
SF- Jefferson
PF- Lewis
C- Wright

I don't think Lewis has enough impact to mean anyone is leaving. He'll be on the fringe of the rotation, I would think.

The team looks pretty strong. I still think we need to address the PG situation though.

I would think MBT views Wright way above old rashard lewis. No way this indicates Wright is leaving.
