Kawhi to decline his player option to become UFA.
Rod Boone: #Hornets are not extending a qualifying offer to Malik Monk, making him an unrestricted free agent, per league sources. Monk’s time with Charlotte is done.
Could be a THJ replacement? Not sure what his contract might look like, but he shot 40% from 3 last year.

I'm all for Monk for the right price. Surprised they think so lowly of him.
Hard to believe he and DSJ have been duds.

I'm so afraid that all the shitting on THJ will come back to bite us in our Oubre ass when we pay him 20mill a year after losing out on Lowry then THJ leaving while we waited... and Derozan never considering us.

This is a fair point, but I think the calculus is way different with a guy like Luka. The question with Derozan is if he’s worth it considering his perimeter shortcomings on offense and defense. At this point, I think we all know it’s better to gamble and have an asset versus not.

I wouldn't be overly upset at Oubre. He is inconsistent to the last, but he is younger, more athletic, and more versatile than THJ. And we have Luka to make him better.
I just can't get over Tim's playoff performance of 3 games awesome, 4 games not even D League quality. If he is the 4th option, great, otherwise, new path.

I watch a lot of GS and Oubre was absolute garbage last year for GS. Never seen so many boneheaded plays and wide open threes gifted to him by Steph. And I don’t use garbage lightly. Phoenix got better when he couldn’t be in the bubble.

No argument here, but you know damn well the Mavs go after him if we lose out on Tim, Lowry, Derozan.

And then there's this from the Atlantic"
Hollinger: I’ve heard a lot of different stuff, but if I had to bet on one outcome, I think it ends with an offer sheet (for Lonzo Ball) from the Bulls that the Pelicans decide to match after Kyle Lowry signs with the Mavericks.

To be fair I'm pretty sure Kawhi guarded THJ more then he did Luka. I still think THJ is nothing more than a 6th man or 4th option that we used as a 2nd though.
Oubre's numbers remind me way too much of the guy we were so happy to throw in Boston's lap. Except he'd be more expensive.

I think the sooner that people get out of the matrix that was Rick's flawed offensive system and realize the mid range game is back and here to stay, the better. Replace THJ with Derozan for the playoffs vs Clips and we are better. A guy that keeps gimmicky defense away from Luka would have been a game changer. Box1 doesn't work well when Derozan gets anywhere he wants. Can also let Derozan bring up the ball and create. Luka on post up is tough to match up to with his creativity and ability to pass out of it. So many options really.

Another one from the 2017 draft class
Marc Berman: Frank Ntilikina, longest-tenured Knicks, going to be an unrestricted free agent. Knicks didn’t submit a qualifying offer at 5 pm deadline, taking off restricted tag. Could still re-sign him.

Oh that's just my argument for why I don't think they make sense for the Heat...now if they wanted to come to the Mavs.....that would be a different situation with Luka lol. I feel like with the Heat....its too many chefs in the kitchen.....Jimmy Butler dominates the ball, Herro does off the bench, do they still have Dipo? Derozen dominates the ball.....Lowry is better with the ball......

Oubre is a terrible basketball player......I think I'd actually have THJ if the salaries are the same......if you think he's inconsistent check out Oubre......he goes weeks looking good then weeks of looking bad lol....

Yea I'd definitely be interested in Monk as well. He's pretty damn athletic and he clearly improved his stroke from deep last year.
I think guys like him and Sterling Brown have more in them and we would see more of that come to fruition around Luka, like Timmy did.
These back up plan semi-starter guys like Brown and Monk need to be better at moving the ball and finding open guys though. It shouldn't be that hard to average 3 assist per.

I agree. He's a very stupid player...he's the last player I'd put on this team....as a 6th man I can get behind that. But he is not what you want in the 4th quarter of games...I Wonder what even his value is at this point.....I know its far more than I think.

Yeah I don't know what they'd even trade for him....but.....we do have salary cap space....is that enticing to them to get from under that contract? I love Harris's game.....may be a bit overpaid but I wouldn't care.

I agree. I don't know if it was with you or someone else but when I said I hoped the Mavs would look at. I'm all for looking at guys who haven't lived up to their potential yet but on their way and I think that's Monk.

Good. I really have little interest in Lowry at that price. Surprised Miami is giving up Achiuwu.
Oh and this is tampering for sure.

Get Dragic (once/if he's bought out) and Derozan. Try to move Brunson/ Powell/ WCS/ Burke for other assets during the season.
Luka - Brunson - Terry - Burke
Derozan - Dragic - S. Brown
DFS - Green - Hinton
Maxi - Bey
Porzingis - Powell - WCS - Boban - M. Brown
Our center situation is stupid. I think the Celtics pushed Brown onto us and the Mavs original plan was to not take on any salary. I'd like to see us try to move Burke, Powell, and WCS at some point.

I wonder if they might open up to a 3 team trade with Mia-Tor-Dallas?
Miami gets Lowry
Dallas gets Dragic
Toronto gets Achiuwu and maybe Powell/Brunson?
Not really sure what contracts Dallas would need to put up to match Dragic.

Dragic won't be bought out. It'll be a bidding war between us and NO which would be kinda depressing to bid on freakin' Dragic.

I would jump for joy if both Powell and THJ were playing elsewhere this coming season.
