Exum practiced today
Won?t play tomorrow but is on his way back.
Honestly think a Wiley defensive guard with a high BBIQ could bring us to the next level.

All Things Mavs
@All_Things_Mavs
Kyrie Irving returned from a six-game absence seven games ago
The Dallas Mavericks are 7-0 since then
In that stretch, Kai is averaging?
27.0 PPG
5.9 AST
5.6 REB
1.1 STL
58.1% FG
46.0% 3P (7.1 ATT/G)

Great point and observation. People sometimes forget and fail to notice or appreciate the most obvious thing. But yeah, Maxi is back too and overall defense is a bit better too.

And since then he's been:
27.0 PPG
2.8 AST
4.4 REB
0.8 STL
47.9% FG
41.7% 3P
That is a very, very significant drop in assists. A drop by more than half. A ball in Irving's hands means that ball spending less time the hands of THJ and Green. He didn't have a single game with 5 assists since then and he averaged nearly 6. He came into the league AS A POINT GUARD. It is good for Mavs when he scores AND CREATES PLAYS FOR OTHERS.
And that drop in the field-goal percentage is statistically very significant.

Its a lack of strategy. There's no reason we can't run similar plays to GS and treat Kai like Steph. Run him off screens and cuts...but our coaching staff is content with "give it to Luka and Fvck off".
I agree Kai needs way more touches, but its a total lack of structure. We need a new coach, like NOW.

This, I think, was a great, great post. Suggesting how the success of these Dallas Mavericks can be unlocked. But it is a little bit easier said than done.

Luka rolled his ankle and is questionable Friday.
I have damn tickets for Sunday after holding off for so long. Last two games I went to Luke didn't play. Can't tell you how frustrating it would be if he played against the Celtics and took Sunday off.

I just watched one possession with OKC and I think every player touched the ball. Kept passing until they found the open man under the rim. Beautiful basketball.

KAT is out for the season. While tragic for them, the 8th seed suddenly looks more promising.

I think most 8 seeds would almost be favored. I trust the Mavs to find a way to chump it. Regardless, wolves will fall to 3 or 4.

Also Ben Simmons out for the season.
Thankfully Nico never entertained a situation of ?if he can get healthy?. Most of us knew it?s been over for him

Oh man, remember Lamar Odom?
Arenas dropping some bombs about him on his podcast. Apparently, he'd watch porn on his locker TV before games. Makes me wonder if that behavior was still going on with the Mavs.

I mean, I'd be shocked if he wasn't. His mental state definitely didn't improve when he camd to Dallas.

Mavs winning percentage after the trade deadline is 19-7,(second only to the Celtics at 22-4.)
That's a 73% winning percentage, which over the course of an 82 game season translates to 60 wins. And this is of course including that putrid stretch where we lost five out of six games, before putting Gafford and DJJ in the starting lineup. With Gafford in the starting lineup, we're 16-2. That's a winning percentage of 89%, which would be a 73 win season.
So basically, the Mavs with Gafford in the starting lineup are the greatest team in NBA history.

THIS is the kind of analysis that you just don't find anywhere else.
Mavs with Gafford in the SL greatest team in NBA history - prove him wrong!

And how long have we all been screaming to get a center upgrade? Still boggles the mind that it took them so long. Seems like they got Gafford rather easily too. Can't tell me this wasn't available at other times.

On this day 26 years ago Dallas made a draft day trade trading Tractor Taylor for the 9th pick which turned into Dirk Nowitzki.
Exactly 20 years later Dallas made another draft day trade. This time they traded for the 3rd pick where Luka Doncic was picked.
Today should be a Dallas holiday.

My small worry is where Josh Green fits. Don't really think the team needs him.
Are we going to get cardio Josh Green or contributes Josh Green?

I still have strong memory of DFS and Bullock being run into the ground playing 40minutes/game. I know Josh is not an all world defender but as an option for competing athletically he gives us another option so we don't have to rely so much on THJ. On the other end of things, hope he'll be able to hit from deep and maybe get some chances on the fastbreak to make his presence known.

According to Stein, an offseason extension for Kidd seems likely.

What would your post-season measuring stick be for Kidd? Would you extend him if we got swept in the first round? Should we extend him no matter what for the 50 wins? Do we have to make it out of the first round? What do you think?

If we beat the Clippers, we have to retain the man IMO. Even if we lose in a competitive series (they do have home court advantage), I think he is extended.
If we get humiliated by the Clips, I think all bets are off.

Problem is there are very few good replacements right now. The great coaching FA was last summer.
I'd still take a hard look at Mike Bud if Mavs go out in the first round, but the Mavs won't do it. Hell, they didn't even fire Rick.
Again, if the superstars like Kidd, then nothing else really matters.

As much as we have griped about Kidd, he's not going anywhere. Drafted as a player by the Mavs and will finish his career with the Mavs. Think about how long Carlisle was here. Kidd seems to be reading our posts about rotations. He's growing this season for sure.
Powell isn't even getting garbage minutes at this point. I think we are in for a long playoff run and hopefully a championship but if Nico pulls of 1 or 2 more moves this next season... Watch out league.
The team seems to be bonding with Kidd too. He seems like a players coach.

Players coach, don't ask Larry Sanders.
He's coaching the way he played, trial and error, like a chemist in the lab. As a player, he would purposely over throw passes, under throw passes, trying to find teammates' sweet spot, but once he found it, he was never off target. But with new seasons, bring new players and new experiments for the chemist. Will Kidd ever win 60 regular season games, probably not, but can he win a Finals? Getting to the West finals, 2 years ago, I will say yes, his intensity picked up and so did the players. The way he celebrates buzzer beaters, it ain't another day at the office, not like when he was a player. You'd think he just won the Finals.

We could do worse. Just hoping we can buy another pick to stash.

I almost hope DJJ demands the money so that we can finally move THJ. Hardy isn't gonna wait around forever to actually get minutes, and it seems like the writing is already on the wall with that.

Yeah I was confused. How can you dominate when you are outscored 3 of 4 quarters? How can you be dominating when you are being OWNED in the paint (a fact he EVEN MENTIONS)? How can say you are dominating when your team is outrebounded?
Weird take.
