If they were to do one of them over straight from script, I'd rather see Wrath of Khan. If they were to do another from the plot up, I'd much rather see the first one. I mean, it was voyager!
I really loved most of the first one. It was a more abstract, 'big picture' approach, which I really dig (2001 might be my all time favorite space movie).

Star Trek I trailer
Thank God movie promos have evolved... although they appear to have invented the THX sound effect!

wow. that was bad. Even if you've never seen a computer generated set of green lines, it's hard to imagine that getting you excited for a movie. The art of the trailer has come a long way.
I watched the Wrath of Khan trailer (here) right after I watched the movie last night and all I could think was, "but, but . . that was actually a good movie"
These, on the other hand (here), were better than the movie.

Star Trek III: eh. I guess they had to resolve it somehow. Wasn't bad.
Star Trek IV: ugh. Save the whales. Really!!?? It's been 20 years and I still can't believe they did a save the whales show.
Star Trek V: a fair idea, but 2 thumbs down for execution.

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Ok, hairstyles I understand, but it's just comical how throughout these 6 movies, computer graphics of the future have perfectly matched the time period that the movie was made. Where's the imagination!!??? You can envision alien spaceships, what warp travel will look like, and 7 different ways a body disintegrates in transportation, but the best computer display you can come up with for 300 years from now is 6 CRTs playing Space Invaders and Asteroids?

So, I'm about to watch Dark City. I bought the bluray directors cut. I have never seen the movie. Am I about to watch greatness?

It's pretty good. Personally I think it (and Proyas) are a bit overrated. Still, the best of his work IMO.

Yes, great movie. Very original for 1998 and great sets/cinematography/special effects.
I personally don't think Proyas is overrated at all....

Your comment was incongruous with the original quote you cited. That's not "simple", it's nonsensical. I think you meant to quote the entry above the one you did.

Dark City= Good, but overrated.
The Crow= average, but horribly overrated, in large part because of Brandon Lee's death.
Knowing= Flat out terrible.

Haven't seen it, but I'd already put a ton of the blame on Nick Cage's useless ass.

Nic Cage is a great actor when he isn't taking gigs to pay off the IRS (the man actually has a mental problem with spending, he own(ed) several islands, castles, absurd works of art, jewelry, etc.)
He was fantastic in "Leaving Las Vegas", "Adaptation", "Moonstruck", "Raising Arizona", "Matchstick Men". And movies like "Face Off", "Lord of War", "Con Air" and "Port of Call" are quite entertaining.
He has an Oscar for a reason.
Then there's the "Bangkok Dangerous", "Knowing", "Sorcerer's Apprentice", and my personal favorite "Wicker Man" where he looks like the worst actor alive because he just doesn't give a shit.

Secretariat...greatness...Also highlights how horrible the estate tax can be.

Nope...greatness...True story about someone taking tremendous personal and professional risks for a shot at greatness.
And I'm not talking about the horse, the horse was other-worldly.
But I really like try stories of pioneers willing to risk it all. I expecially like to see stories where people learn something about themselves just by being around courage.
The racing scenes always thrill me.
But there are no aliens (unless you consider Secretariat to be one).

From this past weekend:
Ip Man: Great stuff. So that's why the Japanese and Chinese hate each other!?
Donnie Darko: Freekin a. Great movie. I can't believe I've avoided it this long.
Get Carter: Crap. I should've avoided that one a little longer. Maybe the orig. is better.
Outlander: Blech. Dragons, space travel, and vikings. How do you screw that up, you bastards???!!!
District 9: Very good. VERY good.
Demolition Man: somehow gets both better and stupider every time I watch it.

Saw a ripped version of Scott Pilgrim last night. I really did want to like it, but for every time I laughed, there was also a time I was thinking why am I watching this? I like what one review of it said that "it does all of the thinking for you." It is good for a cheap laugh and admittedly fun, but I just didn't really care about what I was watching.

Checked out Despicable Me -- thumbs up, reallly cute..
Harry Brown --- With Michael Caine...sort of an old guy playing Charles Bronsons role in Death Wish..I like it also..
ZombieLand -- Some chuckles, mostly silly...but in the right "frame" of mind you might like it. Comic gore abounds.

Very bad and disturbing to see a wasted naked Harvey Keitel weaving around.

oops, sorry. I meant Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. And now knowing what I know about the original, I can say that one very positive thing about this terrible sequel is that Nicolas Cage does not get naked.
Actually, as far as train wrecks go, it did pick up a little about half way through. Train wreck is a pretty good descriptor for the movie. I couldn't stop watching. Imagine, though, a train wreck in which nothing really happens. And in which all the people involved are so annoying that your stomach turns.

I've now got an early candidate in my quest to find the worst movie on Netflix "Watch Instantly." Probably 98% of the selection at Netflix is crap, though, so I've got a lot to work through.
Ballistic: Ecks v. Sever.
I knew it was bad (0% at rotten tomatoes), but wow. That was perhaps the worst action movie I've ever seen. Hard to call it a movie even. It was more like a random string of explosions, poorly executed fight sequences, and even more poorly executed plot devices. Oh, and it will absolutely take the award for the worst soundtrack ever.

Had the displeasure of watching this back when it came out, and I didn't read a single review about it, but I damn near hit a friend of mine who suggested we watch it in the first place. It was nearly as awful as Meet The Spartans. Maybe they were equally bad. But it's been a while since I watched Ballistic, so maybe I don't remember how badly it sucked. I do remember a scene that there was a sniper on the roof of a short building in a heavy traffic area.... somehow, no one saw him. I laughed at how ridiculous it was.
Right now I got a Boxee Box (waiting for mavsgirl to swing by and mention something about me wasting my money.....) and so I debuted it with Scott Pilgrim vs. The World which was absolutely awesome, loud, funny, fun movie. One of my favorites of the year.
I've also got Machete, which I watched part of (Sound was bad, I don't know if it was on purpose or, erhmm, my source).
Toy Story 3 was also fun, watched that once.
