God, yes. Robin Hood is not George Washington.
I just recently got Netflix and so filled my queue with all those classic movies that I had never really wanted to watch but knew I should have. The Godfather (it insists upon itself) is on its way, and I think I'll watch One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest tonight.

Can anyone recommend "84C MoPic" ? It´s a 7,0 low-budget war-pic from 1989.

I've always found Ridley Scott to be an overrated director, especially in the last 10 years. Kingdom of Heaven should have ended his career for good.

Just saw a movie that I liked a bunch... It's called The Greatest with Pierce Brosnan and Sarandon..
It's a drama for sure and maybe over the top, but I liked it. The girls performance really brought a smile to my face. Not a blockbuster, but good stuff.

Great movie! That and Shutter Island are a nice little pair for DiCaprio, who is not my favorite actor.

Batman Forever makes me want to punch him in the face. But I really like that one movie where he chases someone the whole time.

I just saw Donnie Darko for the first time. Holy moly! Also my first Blu-ray movie now that I have a PS3. Beautiful stuff. I even find it cool how you can open up the menu while the movie is in progress.

No but once I get a blu-ray I'll be picking it up. I've gotten every upgraded version they've put out..

Just watched Inception.
Wow.
--Spoilers--
I've read at least a couple of pages on this thread of your guy's discussion of it, and read a bit on other sites, and I think I mostly understand it. The one thing that is bothering me is the kicks on the 1st level of the dream. First off, why have the first kick (going off the bridge)...didn't they know it was going to be too soon? I guess if there's a second kick, it doesn't matter, because the kick only works when synchronized? What if they were still on the 2nd level when that kick happened? Would it kick them back then? Why didn't Arthur get kicked back to the first level upon the bridge kick because he was just one level above it? I know the sedation was really powerful and all, and because of that they rigged kicks for every level, but didn't you guys already state that the explosion of the ice fortress was enough to kick people from Cobb's fourth dream... (which makes sense, UD, and you're the only person I've seen really say that. Everyone says that was limbo, but I don't think you can just kind of dream your way down to limbo, and when they got to the ruined city they knew exactly what they needed to do, so I like that explination better. Only question is why is Fisher there, not limbo?)
The other question is this: why do they wake up on the 1st dream level after the kick of the van hitting the water? I thought all the kicks had to happen at once? I guess it doesn't really matter, and I know it was important to the plot to have Cobb die and go to limbo to find Saito...it just seems weird that if all the kicks happened at once, why wouldn't there be a kick on the plane in reality as well? If that's the case, why didn't they just do the kicks level by level, to make sure everything went well? Kick on level 2 and 3 to bring level 3 people to level 2. Kick on 1 and 2 to bring level 2 people to level 1. Then the big kick back to reality. That seems safer, so that nobody is left behind (I think that was one possible consequence).
Something I just thought of, too: if you died on levels 2 or 3, would you go to limbo, or is that only level 1. The reason they went to limbo is that the sedation was too strong to wake early. However, if you die on level 2 or 3, you aren't waking, you're just going back one level, as evidenced by the first dream sequence at the beginning of the movie...they go back from the 2nd level to the 1st level of that specific dream. Is the sedation so powerful you can't even wake up from a dream within a dream (within a dream)?
Someone asked why Ariadne jumped off in the ruined city...wasn't she trying to get a kick? A kick is falling, and by jumping off, she's falling, thus obtaining the kick she wanted. Maybe it didn't matter because the snow explosion kicked her back, but I don't think she was trying to die, she was just trying to get a kick.
Oh, and I think the last scene was reality. I like the wedding ring explination. I'll go with that.

Little Fockers. Needless to say i was forced to see this over The Fighter and True Grit. It wasn't too bad. It had a lot of hit and miss comedy. It was a little too predictable, and the ending was forced.

Why is Saito so much older than Cobb in the final dream level?
A: It's likely that Cobb and Saito are in limbo for the same amount of time, however Cobb knows he's in limbo, so perhaps this keeps him from aging visibly. Saito on the other hand seems to have forgotten where he is, and so the passage of time (which could have been decades since time runs faster the deeper you go) has more of an affect on him. Similarly, the first time Cobb and Mal end up in limbo they aged because they've forgotten where they really are and accepted it as their reality.
|
thought it was pretty much common knowledge that saito died first, thus spent more time in limbo than Cobb.

Black Swan is a masterpiece. I had my doubts after all of the hype, but it truly is. Definitely the best movie I've seen this year.

Black Swan was fantastic, Darren is one of my top 3 favorite directors. Interested to see what he'll do with his first big studio gig in Wolverine.
True Grit was good, but not great. Underwhelming IMO.
127 Hours was very good.
Tron: Legacy was a nice Daft Punk music video with the most nonsensical plot ever.

TBH the only one of those movies that I'd ever watch again is Black Hawk Down... I found American Gangster in particular to be a snoozer...

You wouldn't watch Gladiator again? I mean, I know it's mainstream and an Oscar-winner and it's cool to not like those sorts of things, but it's a classic. What's not to like?

Not to mention the sound... the sound! Great Home Theater material to playback the scene where the Tigers are surrounding him in the Coliseum

Watched Assassins (2009) on Christmas-Day 2nd. I recommend this nice, hard crime movie.
It´s about a group of hitmen who realize that a murder scene has been set up by an unknown. Hope i got the plot right... ,-)

The one thing I really took away from the movie was a renewed appreciation for advancements in feminine grooming over the last 30 years.
