@All_Things_Mavs: The Mavs and Real Madrid have come to terms on a buyout for Luka Doncic. His rookie deal with Dallas should be done soon, according to @IAmDPick.
EDIT: @tim_cato: Luka Doncic's Real Madrid buyout still hasn't been finalized, I've been told, so don't expect to see him playing in summer league today or tomorrow.

@SportingDFW: Oh look it’s the two best guards in Texas and Chris Paul.

Looks like we don't need Kostas to sell the Mavs to his brother, we already have another guy on it...

Maybe he just finds the music of ABBA to be so infectious?

Our previous legend liked Hasselhoff. Our future one likes Mama Mia. Big deal.

If Luka wins ROY or comes close but had an exciting year he’s going to be able to lure players like Giannis. There will also likely be other high level Euro players that will come to come play for the Mavs just to play with Luka.
A couple people here thought I was on crack when I said a dream lineup of these guy is highly unlikely but financially possible.
AD
Giannis
Barnes
Luka
Dennis
If the Mavs are able to get lucky enough to land Giannis it will be much easier convince a guy like Davis to come to the Mavs. Obviously this is a highly unlikely scenario I’m just saying it will be financially possible in 2021, both will be UFA’s, and the Mavs could have the best young backcourt in the NBA.

I can definitely imagine a scenario where Giannis wants to play with Luka. They're of similar age, so they both fit into the same timeline. But in order for this to happen, the Bucks need to screw up. If they put a good enough team around Giannis to be a contender, he's not leaving. He said himself he'd prefer to spend his entire career in Milwaukee.

Well so far they are not doing a great job with Eric Bledsoe, Khris Middleton, Tony Snell, John Henson, and Matthew Delavedova. Mavs 2021, here we come!

What would we expect any young player to say? Especially when they are under contract for 2+ years? Nah, this team and city sucks, can't wait to get out? I mean, it's rare. Kawhi situation is the only thing close that comes to mind.

I expect them to not make comments like that though. I expect more bland or neutral comments.

True but in 2 years if they are not right there challenging for the Eastern Conference title and if the arrow is pointing down there is a very good chance he bolts.

@espn_macmahon: Mavs coach Rick Carlisle is flying to Slovenia today for a get-to-know-you visit with Luka Doncic.
@tim_cato: Doncic is likewise flying out today, so that should end for certain any speculation that he would play in Las Vegas.

Good. If Doncic had a bad, meaningless summer league game, then we'd have to hear people bitch about it for months. He needs rest anyway based on how much basketball he plays.

Classy move by Rick. Between he and DSj, we may have the potential to be successful AND keep our culture that Dirk built. Nothing better than winning the right way.

smart move by the Mavs... I know we're all anxious to watch him play, but let the kid get some rest and get used to rigorous NBA training and diet before throwing him to the wolves.

With the #3 pick (!) in the NBA draft, the Mavs get Luka Doncic
Nothing to see here

They just said on 105.3 that Rick and Luka weren't at the summer league game because they flew to Slovenia to meet and hang out with Lukas family. Good to see they are trying to build a relationship. Pretty sure Rick did something similar with DSJ last year. I'm not sure if this is common for coaches to hang out with their top draft picks?

Skin interviews Doncic, doesn't ask any stupid pop culture-based questions (although he does seem rather interested in whether or not Luka's mom is coming to Dallas): https://twitter.com/FOXSportsSW/stat...59320534970368

I’d wager he gets a camp invite. Whether he goes to Gleague or to play overseas after that is up in the air

Just to keep this hype train on track... Kevin Pelton of ESPN (prob my fav basketball analyst after Zach Lowe) said the summer league performances by the top picks affirmed for him that Doncic was the best player in the draft by a mile.

Nevermind, found it...
Pelton: Without even playing a game, Doncic solidified his position as the best prospect in the 2018 draft in my opinion. Ayton was as physically dominant as anticipated and would have performed far better had his teammates been better equipped to set him up. Yet Ayton's performance reinforced my concerns about how much impact he'll make defensively, which goes double for Bagley, who shot 33.3 percent between Vegas and the California Classic. And while I wouldn't overreact to Trae Young's poor shooting early in summer play, I feel even more strongly that I wouldn't have passed on Doncic for any of those three players.

We might be getting pics of Rick and Luka soon - there were a couple of pics last year of DSJ and coach visiting his hometown and family.
