If we don't get a sit-down with LeBron, then we aren't in the race...
If we do, then we are...
EDIT: cue Murph's "thanks, captain obvious!" quip.

James does not want Miami. 2 sources, don't know if it's same source, but one came via Chad ford, Wade is leaning to Chicago, having requested a 2nd meeting with Bulls brass today.
Bulls have also proposed a Deng trade for a center than clears cap.

strange. but i still don't believe in this LeBron/Wade alliance. so Wade is suddenly gonna ride the King's coattails? maybe Bosh would. his releasing a pic of him hugging D-Wade was pretty pathetic. it's like bragging about being invited to hang out with the popular kid in middle school.
could this all mean that: Bosh wants to get paid max and will need a sign and trade
Bron is going to NJ
Amare is going to NY
JJ is re-signing w/ATL
Wade doesn't think Boozer and he can win a championship alone so he's getting out to a better team while he can?

I say after these 2 days:
Wade/Bosh Bulls
James Nets (maybe with Lee or Boozer)
Heat and Knicks the big loser
We use Dust for in a traditional trade

DONUT 7: Shaquille O’Neal – Want another DB.com Chapter in Shaq’s Dallas Desire?
While Cleveland is thinking that somehow it can ship Shaq to Dallas in a S-n-T (the Mavs aren’t real excited about having to actually give up real assets for a backup center they’d like more as a minimum-wage idea), here’s what Shaq himself is thinking (hat-tip to 75-Member Staffer Wally Lynn:
Dallas.
Or Italy.

Heyas all,
This is my first post, but I was sitting here thinking. As I understand it, the only way we can get lebron is a sign and trade, and cleveland says that is not going to happen. i have read about the MBT and our DUST chip.
What about if we did a sign and trade to get bosh and then trade bosh in some capacity to get lebron? Maybe we sign bosh, Miami signs lebron, then we trade bosh for lebron?
I don't even know if this is possible, or if this idea has even been mentioned, but everything I have read says the raptors are open to a sign and trade.
curious if you all could share your thoughts on this.
thanks

Whoever signs Lebron doesn't trade Lebron, except possibly Cleveland in a prearranged sign-and-trade.

I understand your thinking, but what if Miami is presented with the option of losing everything or keeping wade and bosh?
IMHO, Wade isn't going to hang around unless they get bosh or Lebron. If we offer bosh for Lebron (assuming all sides agree to the basics in principle), then Miami gets 2/3 of the pie, and the other piece is moving to another conference. So the NBA finals would be the only potential place they would see him.
IDK, i am sure that every single scenario on the planet has been reviewed by this point, but I still believe that there is a chance for Dallas to swoop in and steal the main prize and I think the 2 main selling points are:
1. we are not in same conference
2. we are already contenders and don't have to gut our team to get someone.

It's certainly not impossible that a team other than Cleveland could sign Lebron for a SnT, if he leverages them correctly.
That being said, the reason you generally assume that the team doing the SnT will be the FA's old team is that his old team can sign him to a higher-dollar contract. Also, psychologically the former team is generally the most likely to agree to a SnT, because if they don't, they will feel like they are "losing" their star player for nothing.

You can't sign and trade for a player and then immediately sign and trade that player away. Not to mention Bosh would have to agree to be sent to Cleveland. He already said he doesn't want to play there...even with LeBron. Without LeBron? Not even a chance.

GuerillaBlack - i was referring to making it like a 3 team trade.
1. Bosh resigns with Raptors then traded to Dallas.
2. Lebron signs with Miami.
3. Dallas trades Bosh for Lebron.
its wishful thinking but I was just trying to think of a way to get him. Like I mentioned previously, I am sure my thought isnt something that someone, somewhere hasnt already suggested and shot down, but I was just curious.
I have always thought something is better then nothing.

BTW,
just read this article on espn.com
http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nba...tim&id=5354048
he makes a good point about what dirk did in taking a pay cut.
"It also sends a strong symbolic message to potential stars that might join the Mavs: Dirk's sole goal is to get a ring. The egoless superstar is more than willing to sacrifice to accomplish the only thing missing from his surefire Hall of Fame résumé."
so i will keep all my fingers and toes crossed that a miracle happens =)

so Wade and LeBron are going to be on their 2nd meetings w/ teams before we get a sit down? i understand what Fish is saying in the articles about protocol and all. but it's getting absurd. maybe they have no intention of meetings w/ us. find it hard to believe Lebron is willing to meet w/ the Clippers and not Mavs. if so he's obviously more concerned w/ markets and image than basketball. who knows if the report of Wade's visit was ever even true. it's entirely possible LeBron has known all along where he's going and is milking the media attention for all it's worth. but guys can sign contracts in a few days. it's getting late in the game to not have heard a peep...

That's not a three team trade man. It can't work out like that.

I really, really, really can't imagine LeBron playing for Avery Johnson. Knicks, Cavs or Mavs.

Bulls is more likely than all three of those, I think. And actually? I think LeBron is going to New Jersey. Because of the owner, though, and Jay Z, not Johnson.

yeah because LeBron is going to completely disregard who is coaching him over the next 5 years....
give me a break. LeBron is NOT going to play for Avery Johnson.

If James like the Nets he signs there.
And if Avery pisses him off James need to say one word to the owner and Avery is gone..

Of the 2010 free agency period? Like those 30 for 30 documentaries...10 years from now if ESPN does 40 for 40 have this as a topic? That'd be actually really cool.
Hopefully, they do one on the NBA referee problems of the 00's, focusing on the 06 Finals. That'd make me at least feel a little better if a documentary ever came out really detailing how the Mavericks almost (and should have) won a title.
