David Baumann: Source: Mavs are “optimistic” they lured DeAndre from LAC after meetings today. Prior to FA, DJ texted @RyanTotka “really considering it.”

Ryan Totka runs Athlete Promotions, an agency that books sports celebrity appearances, with a focus on brand-building... Both Mark Cuban and Dez Bryant are his clients, among others.
Interesting.

Its far from a sure thing but I must say its nice to get some encouraging news atleast. You get Deandre out of the way and then you can move on through free agency.

To secure Jordan... hire anyone who has ever meant something special to DJ...
I would go so far as to hire his old High School Coach, HS Teamamtes, AAU Friends, Uncles, Cousins, et al. Cuban could find jobs for these guys from locker room assistants to ticket sellers to beer vendors etc...
We go all in on this. Go BIG or go home.

What are the Clips going to say. You were the third option before and we've got a new small forward that pushes you down to the 4th option?

Or how Doc Rivers is out of touch at coaching. Big example when they blew it on closing out the rockets in the playoffs.

@espn_macmahon: Source says Mavs would consider a salary-dump deal for Roy Hibbert if DeAndre Jordan doesn't choose Dallas. But still hopeful about DJ.

Probably Felton for Hibbert...so we would kind of "just" pay 10m for Hibbert....

I'd almost rather have that situation than get tied up with TC for several years. Hibbert is a huge expiring that could come in handy around TDL and is certainly serviceable.
If there is any way we could throw Harris in the deal and get Hill back in return that would solve another problem.
Add Wes Matthews and we'd be finished.
Hill/Calathes?
Matthews/Anderson
Parsons/RJ
Dirk/Powell/CV
Hibbert/Withey?/Sarge
Not ideal but could probably compete for a PO spot.

Arash Markazi @ ArashMarkazi
Sense from some is DeAndre Jordan race is now even between Clippers and Mavs. It was "90-10" for the Clippers before Parsons got involved.
Could you imagine if the Rockets had matched Parsons last offseason? Parsons is literally the only hopeful future piece we currently have.
EDIT: I mean, I like Anderson, but he isn't in the same realm talent-wise as Parsons. I mean't someone you can actually build around.

If he was the factor for DJ to sign here than i bet Dirk will pay him his meals next season not the other way around lol.
But its not looking too good right now.
The only hope i have is that Tyson signed so early before DJ (maybe he knows the Mavs get DJ and has no place here).

DeAndre Jordan is in the midst of getting a face-to-face pitch from Phil Jackson and the rest of the Knicks' contingent as we speak

That's insane. Parsons the Hero. If he single-handedly gets Deandre here, we should hang his jersey in the rafters tomorrow.

Wonder if Parsons will want to be traded if we don't land DJ or anyone near his caliber.

Hibbert is trash. Complete garbage. I rather sign Bismack Biyombo and bring back Pavel Podkolzin.

LOL...Hibbert is not "trash".
Certainly not worth $15mil on a long-term deal but is serviceable as a huge expiring and an actual tradable asset if we want to upgrade or pickup some youth at TDL.
That is a low risk plan B move.
Do you seriously want to commit long-term to Biyombo and consider him the answer to our center issues?

Hes not an Asset no one wants him. If we take him its just to field someone at the 5 for next season before letting him go next year.
They already said they are just dumping off his salary for the year if they are forced to take him.

A $15mil expiring contract will be an asset at TDL...especially for teams trying to dump salary for 2016 cap increase.
If we sign Biyombo it better be as a backup at a backup salary.

I'm not saying Hibbert is better than Chandler by any means but this team would still be in shambles if resigning Tyson to a long-term deal would have been our best off-season move.
Hibbert gives us a big man in the middle without a long-term commitment.
Certainly not plan A but not a bad plan B if this team isn't planning to rebuild anytime soon.
If the FO makes a knee-jerk reaction move to get a big I'd rather it be someone we can easily dump at TDL or the end of the season.

how much would Indy give up to dump Hibbert? if the Mavs could get a first rounder along with him, then tank the whole season, they'd end up with their own first (top 7) and Indy's.

I'd say that's Plan Z... But at this point there aren't a lot of options between that and Plan A.

Doubt they would give up a pick to move a huge expiring. Not sure if they have any other bad contracts but I like that idea.

If the plan isn't to rebuild, I would rather they have the center position solved at 13 million than have another 1 year solution. Plan B was obviously Tyson.

How about adding in Felton for C.J Miles?

Plan A better work but I'm seeing a lot of criticism of my plan B but not hearing many ideas for a plan B from others.
Not trying to start an argument with anyone but it appears there aren't many options because the ideas aren't exactly pouring out.
It gets really scary if Plan A doesn't work and I'm beginning to get some bad vibes.
Would have thought we'd have to be on the favorable side of 60/40 chance to be optimistic but 50/50 with Clips isn't a good sign imo.
